Let's finish Chicks Dig Me. Oh my god.
And IBM plans to build that supercomputer to run the entire internet as a software. Don't these idiots watch sci-fi movies?
The idea of this being developed further and put into wider use in the near future makes me think of Deus Ex
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/hFSJn.jpg[/img_thumb]
that is so exploitable.
Watson: "I'll take "Where is Sarah Connor" for 500!"
I as well, welcome our new computer overlords. :v: That motherfucker must be a Facepuncher.
You caught me :<

Also, Watson is Morpheus.
The episodes would have been more fun to watch if Watson had Microsoft Sam or the Moonbase Alpha voice. I'll have U.S. Capitals for $200 please. ebrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbr
Former American professional football players for $400
But can it run Crysis?
Last question of the game, Watson. Your question is! What is love? *boom*

Computers can retain much more knowledge than anyone. He also had a lot of practice and when he gets something wrong it is imputted in its memory.
It was a PR thing. They probably rigged it so he answered it right all the time
It was a PR thing. They probably rigged it so he answered it right all the time
No; 1. He can comprehend any question, which is extremely advanced for a computer. 2. No answers are programmed into him, he actually searches books, encyclopedias, and the internet when he answers. So yes, you can beat him.

They said in the video.
so what does he search
Is it just me or did Watson ring in so fucking fast there was no way they people could have won.
Is it just me or did Watson ring in so fucking fast there was no way they people could have won.
But only if it thinks its answer is right.
Was anybody else slightly bothered by Watson's voice when speaking the amount of money?
It was a PR thing. They probably rigged it so he answered it right all the time
Uh, no. It's a linguistics analyzer. It doesn't have to be rigged to do shit. Fucking christ, why are so many people so stupid about this? [editline]19th February 2011[/editline]
Computers can retain much more knowledge than anyone.
But only if it thinks its answer is right.
It is still a bit of an unfair advantage because the human reaction time can't at all compare to the reaction time of the computer. To put it into perspective, if you were asking easy math questions and it was a similar scenario (computer vs. two really smart people) the computer would always win, not because it is smarter, but because there is pretty much no reaction time as opposed to the .2-.4 second reaction time most people have. I don't know if they programmed a delay before answering the questions, but if they didn't they should have, and if they did they should have said so.
so what does he search
15 TB of data.
[...] the system is a cluster of 90 IBM Power 750 servers, each of which contains 32 POWER7 processor cores running at 3.55 GHz [...] Watson can process 500 gigabytes per second [...] Moreover, each of those 32 servers is equipped with 256 GB of RAM [...] Watson doesn’t rely on data stored on hard drives because they are too slow to access.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watson_(artificial_intelligence_software)#Technology

I'm making the point that it's unfair to say that Watson beat human players when it had such an advantage in reaction time. The statement "Watson can play Jeopardy and answer the questions correctly in a very short amount of time" would be much more correct than "Watson can beat the top two Jeopardy players".
