My dad tests lift fans for the F-35. Thats all he can tell me though :v:
Well why they won't just fix the faulty ones and not start ALL OVER again new scratch?

You got a spare 382 billion dollars?
Well this is pretty stupid. What a waste.

Convince him to tell you more, then sell your information at a ludicrously high price to communist China.
No thanks, I'd rather not defeat the entire point of designing and building the single most terrifying air supremacy fighter to ever take to the skies by selling them to other people.
I imagine the B-2 pilots take great insult to not being included as part of the stealth aircraft inventory. Y'know, that billion dollar aircraft capable of cruising through most modern RADAR systems and CARPET BOMBING a target?
You don't even need to sell them to other people to defeat the purpose of them. They're already fucking useless.
i really doubt anyone is going to invade our homeland and try to blow us up in the next 50 years or so
You don't see invasion becoming a reality because we have the greatest standing military force in the history of man.

No, you don't see an invasion becoming a reality because can you imagine any modern country invading another in this decade? I mean please wank yourself off to your huge waste of money and inferior quality of life as a result, but that ain't the reason.

Weren't they used alongside an AC-130, so they could fly ahead and spot all enemies, and then the AC-130 fires thousands of rockets at it?
Or am I thinking of another plane?

B-2s are more a strategic bomber, flying over the target and dropping tons of dumb bombs or, more commonly these days, a handful of JDAMs with different targets programmed in. 10-20 bombs landing within 3 yards of their targets all in one undetected flyby? Someone's shit gon' get fucked.
You might be thinking of the U2, which was also a stealth aircraft (if only by flying so god-damn high you couldn't see it or do anything about it) and it was a reconnaissance aircraft. But I don't think they use those anymore, they're pretty dated by today's standards.
I can almost guarantee you, they still have several on standby in-case of emergency. Besides you have know idea what kind of aircraft we have, that we know even exist. Ex: New stealth Black hawk(used in bin-laden raid)

It's from a macro where it shows how the world views Americans or something like that.
Oh those Stealth planes are gonna get such a spanking there not gonna be able to sit for about a week.
You know, at the rate these Joint Strike Fighters are being delayed, they'll be in service at the exact same time our two new delayed aircraft carriers come into service.
Two wrongs eh?
Don't get me started on the F35's.....
Other countries are putting out 5th generation fighters in the near future, and have spent a fraction of the cost of the R&D as the F35 program has had spent on it.
As war games in Australia have proven, technology cannot offset numbers.
Here is an article regarding the Pak FA for example

That's not abnormal, though, Russian and to a lesser (a much lesser considering how their indigenous tech looks striking like Russian or American stuff) extent China are able to achieve significant gains on a tenth of the budget, with the extreme corruption that exists.

Sometimes, you have to take what Carlo Kopp says with a grain of salt. He has an obvious political agenda of "F-22 über alles" and also overhypes it in the same way that Tom Clancy gets a hard-on for the U.S. military in his books.

Here in the West, we suffer from a "not invented here" attitude which extends to military equipment. Take, for example the M2 Bradley IFV. The Americans had to go through all that trouble, time and time to make what is pretty much a mediocre vehicle when the West Germans and the Soviets had perfectly sound IFV designs that the Americans could've copied.
On the budget: In the Department of Defense's development and procurement system, it's all about generating the greatest possible cost to benefit the defense contractors over utilitarianism. Back in the 1980s, it had some integrity, but only a little.

Like they would use it against the US. Unless the US sells them to third world dictatorships such is the norm.

The US could give their entire fleet to third world nations and either bankrupt them through maintenance costs, or let them rust outside.

Actually he is thinking of the B-1B lancer.
It hasn't actually been done, but it is theoretically possible with some minor tweaking and training.
The proposal came about following the news that we were drastically reducing the number of F-22's we were purchasing. Someone had a bright idea about how to counteract that numerical drop.
F-22's can't carry a whole lot of missiles if they want to remain stealth. The instant you stick shit on those hardpoints on the wings, you have fucked your stealth up pretty bad. So the idea was that a single (or very small group) of F-22's would fly ahead of a B-1B lancer that has been retrofitted to launch over the horizon air-to-air missiles. The B-1B, as you can imagine, could theoretically carry a massive number of air-to-air missiles, given its strategic bomber designation. So the F-22('s) in front would maintain a com link back to the targeting system on the B-1B waaaaaaay back outside of RADAR range, which would allow a single F-22 to go in with minimal armament (with no external missiles, the RADAR cross section is pretty damn small) and use its stealth capabilities coupled with its over-engineered targeting systems to target entire enemy fighter wings as they move unaware of either aircraft's presence.
Once a selection of targets is acquired by the F-22, the B-1 unleashes a barrage of long range missiles and decimates the enemy squadron.
Neat plan, but limited in its application in a modern setting. It would work well when fighting over the ocean, due to the lack of ground based RADAR facilities fucking stuff up, and it might work okay on the very edge of a RADAR network on the ground, but really how often do we need to take down massive groups of fighters?
Still, brilliant idea.
fuck america, they're going to completely destroy the world economy if they keep pulling bullshit like this
Oh yeah, blame one country for the world's problems, that makes perfect sense.
