• Humble Bundle are now restricting game keys

Can't you just sign in with another Steam account and redeem it.
I usually buy 5 to 6 above average bundles, then give the extra keys to people I know / randoms, but since its like this, I might only buy 2 or so.
Why? I was always buying bundles for my friends and send them codes as surprise, using one purchased bundle to send games to many people. Now it has gone full retard
1: Buy bundle for whatever price you want 2: Buy bundle for $0.01 and give to whoever you want to give
Why would you go through the effort of making a new steam account for black games when you could just download the games directly from their site?
You can still redeem old-style keys, I just redeemed an old Frozenbyte Bundle key I had.
Why would you go through the effort of making a new steam account for black games when you could just download the games directly from their site?
An increasing number of bundles (mainly weekly sales) aren't DRM-free, sadly.
Dammit. HumBundle keys were INCREDIBLY useful in creating scrap.tf bots.
Apparently there were a lot of stolen credit card purchases and money being laundered??? What I heard at least so they're probably stopping this shit.
If there's a good reason for it then I don't mind, but if it's something along the lines of "it's not meant to be gifted out" then it's really off-the-walls retarded. Does it really matter what the purpose of the purchase was? Isn't getting money for charity the important part?
Lots of people on eBay/Kinguin seem to keep the keys and then sell them off later on for more than they paid for 'em which I think is a bit dishonest and wrong. I'd prefer it if you could get all the keys to share spare ones with your friends but in the end of the day it doesn't matter too much.
I like how people seem to be mostly defending this, but when the same thing happens to the Xbox then Microsoft is satan. [editline]1st November 2013[/editline] I realize people are abusing it, but people are going to find ways to abuse it no matter what. I can still buy a full bundle now and sell it to someone at a higher price and let them link it to their Steam account. I don't really see how this solves anything.
If you feel like your CHEAP GAME SHARING privilege is being so abused and that this your friend COMPLETELY DESERVES THAT ONE GAME FROM YOUR BUNDLE, you can just grab the DRM free copy for them and upload it somewhere privately, you know. Seriously, this rant reeks quite heavily of ONLINE ENTITLEMENT. If you paid 5 bucks for one bundle to share it with 5 people, you can just buy 5 bundles for a dollar each and spread them about. If you paid less then $5 to further spread the games about then I have little compassion for you.
As someone with an already large library I'm probably just going to stop buying this. Usually there's only one or two games I don't already have in their bundles. The thing that annoys me is that if they're doing this to stop people from abusing it then why can't they just be honest and say so instead of doing this "easier user experience" bullshit.
By the way, I wouldn't be surprised if Valve asked them to enforce this, as that's who loses money due to the humble bundle key sharing, it might have been them or the particular developer who went into HiB.
I don't think I'm entitled to it. My point was that their one excuse doesn't make any sense. [editline]auto marge[/editline] My automerge.

[editline]1st November 2013[/editline] Again, notice this only applies to the keys - something Valve has business in and probably has a big say in, and as I said, it was quite probably Valve who asked them to enforce this. If you feel like you are right to share the game, just do so with the DRM free copy, don't expect Valve to provide you free download and storage service to people they never promised them (they promised them to you while you bought the bundle, according to the ToS and such for YOUR OWN USE).
Since when does microsoft sell Xbox games for exactly $1 for five of them while letting you decide to give ALL YOUR MONEY to charity, not leaving a single cent to Microsoft?
I'm talking about the people who were bitching about their "consumer rights" being stolen by Microsoft. And I'd to point out that I'm not defending Microsoft if that's what you were saying. I'd also like to say that some of the games in these bundles require you to pay a minimum of (usually) $5 to get them. And most of the time the Beat-The-Average games are the only ones I (And lots of other people with a steam library my size) don't have, so we end up giving them to friends instead of having them go to waste. If anything it makes people more charitable to giving games to other people for free. If the Humble Bundle people choose to stay with this that's fine, just don't give bullshit reasons that make no sense. [editline]Yeah[/editline] And yes I do realize sharing Keys is against their ToS, it's also against Steams ToS.
They have more at stake with their $60 dollar games than some tiny bundle any one can afford...
"We're going to make your user experience better by imposing arbitrary limitations that only affect actual customers and not the ones abusing the system" I thought the humble bundle was MADE to stay away from this bullshit, not continue it themselves
I usually buy the bundles for one ore two games and gave the keys for ones I already had to friends. So now I can't do that. Thanks Humble Bundle!
Not buying the bundles now, oh well.
"We're going to make your user experience better by imposing arbitrary limitations that only affect actual customers and not the ones abusing the system" I thought the humble bundle was MADE to stay away from this bullshit, not continue it themselves
Did you even read anything here? How is this limiting any legitimate customers? It was never allowed to give the Steam keys to anyone but yourself. Edit: When the ME3-ending thing happened a lot of people used the word entitled against those protesting the (horrible) ending, but this thread really makes this the first word I can think of. You are getting a huge bunch of games for a few dollars (DRM free and Steam keys) and you bitch about not being able to give away your Steam keys while keeping your DRM free version anymore even though that was never allowed in the first place. You should be happy you were able to do this, this long. Maybe this news isn't hitting me as hard as most of you (apparently) because I always thought that it was kind of an immoral thing to do and never even thought about doing that.
Did you even read anything here? How is this limiting any legitimate customers? It was never allowed to give the Steam keys to anyone but yourself.
Some people have multiple Steam accounts for their Main PC, HTPC, etc so they can stay logged in at the same time.
Some people have multiple Steam accounts for their Main PC, HTPC, etc so they can stay logged in at the same time.
Also not allowed in the Terms of Service and as someone with 3 gaming PCs (2 desktop, 1 notebook) I never really had the desire to have multiple Steam accounts, why anyone would want to buy every game 3 times and copy the save games over manually instead of using Steam cloud is beyond me. Also, Family sharing allows you to use your humble bundle games from your main account on any account you want.

They're disappointed because they already some of the games. This still doesn't solve that problem. I can buy a bundle as a gift, download the DRM free versions and send it to a friend so they can link it. If they wanted to prevent it they could add some feature to gift a specific game to a friend, and when you gifted it then you wouldn't even be able to download the DRM free copy. Always online DRM only effects a very small amount of people, and what has been one of the selling points of the Humble Bundle? Also, all I can find in the ToS is that it's for personal use only. Not that you can't use 2 Steam accounts which are both operated by you.

HumbleBundle is great, this doesn't bother me. I buy bundles with games I already own all the time. If you really want a friend to have one of the games you already own just buy the bundle and gift it, problem solved. Stop being greedy assholes.
I meant Steam's ToS.
Couldn't find that in their ToS either. In fact I found a couple forum posts from Valve appointed forum moderators that say that they have multiple accounts and its fine. [editline]1st November 2013[/editline] I wan't to give a game that I purchased with my money to my friend for free, how greedy!
Giving the steam keys to other people was ALWAYS against their terms of service. They're just enforcing that rule now. Also, this is to get rid of the resellers on ebay and shit.
