Replace "drugs" with "emotions" and you get the same deal.
Go watch the movie Equilibrium, you'll like it.
Yes but drugs forces emotions and beliefs.
Because people will do stuff they normally wouldn't do when they are affected by stronger drugs.
Legalizing has been shown to keep the consumption rate around the same, if not lower. The point is, it's so widespread and available, don't you think we would have seen all these "problems" associated with it already?
Alright well back to an older statement of mine, I look at the 'high' part as a side-effect.
Unaddressed concerns of mine:
- Why should your personal experiences dictate legislation?
- You don't consider sugar a drug because it naturally occurs within ourselves. Do you consider adrenaline a drug?
Uh, why would the weed become stronger and have any other effects in addition to the they ALREADY have
With stronger drugs I mean drugs that you get high off. I didn't mean that the drugs would become stronger.
Yes but drugs forces emotions and beliefs.
So does religion. Want to ban that?
I can keep pulling analogies out of my ass all evening if you want
With stronger drugs I mean drugs that you get high off. I didn't mean that the drugs would become stronger.
so you're using the gateway argument then?
With stronger drugs I mean drugs that you get high off. I didn't mean that the drugs would become stronger.
Things that affect your emotions and decisions are far and wide and drugs can no more claim responsibility than anything else for a decision so to blame and ban drugs off that illusion is wrong.
So does religion. Want to ban that?

Alright you've convinced me. I'm still not sure about the idea of legalization but I'm not gonna be all against it untill I see it.
Also, if you judge how hard a drug is by its level of intoxication, there is no way weed it "harder" than alcohol, or anywhere near it. People could still do stupid things under its influence, but what's stopping that from happening now?

And once again I'm not saying alcohol is better.
I have only seen one call involving weed. Some kid fell down running from a cop that caught him smoking a joint, he landed on his ass.
The only complications he suffered from it were that it was uncomfortable to sit down for a few hours afterwords.
I'm mildly high and just laughed my ass off reading that.
Thank you, good sir.
Alright you've convinced me.
I've never heard that on Facepunch before.

I'm still hung over from Canada Day so I'm a bitter SOB right now.
Yeah, THC is a much better drug than alcohol. Better feeling, less side effects.
I don't think Alchohol should be legall personally.
Remember prohibition? We don't need people like Al Capone again.
The Capone Mob with AK-47s and RPG-7s. Can you imagine that? :tinfoil:
Oh wait, we already have that with weed. One more reason to legalize it.
Regulate it like cigarettes and alcohol, and have shops that want to be dispensaries/smokehouses be inspected, like the FDA inspects restaurants and so forth.
With this you eliminate the crime involved with obtaining and trafficking it(IE Mexico border), and you keep the people who want to smoke(me)inside our 'Marijuana bars' so we don't disturb the peace of others who do not wish to be around it, I also believe it should not be made able to smoked publicly, or while driving. There should also be vape/eating laws, and they may differ from smoking it publicly and if you're taking it medicinally, IMO.
The liqueur laws AND tobacco laws should BOTH apply to it.
Problem solved and our side of the world is happy... real happy..
amirite?

Not quite. We still have to worry about crack, heroine, and all that other fun stuff. And that stuff makes people lose their control.
Regulate it like cigarettes and alcohol, and have shops that want to be dispensaries/smokehouses be inspected, like the FDA inspects restaurants and so forth.
Right. Issue Cannabis Licenses in the same way alcohol and restaurant licenses are issued.
If you're just going to repeat yourself ignoring that the most popular method of consumption is harmful, then I think I'm just going to quit right now because I have slightly better things to do than talk to a brick wall.
Omg you're right it's harmful we must protect adults who know the danger from using it
Omg you're right it's harmful we must protect adults who know the danger from using it
If you learn to read a bit more carefully, you'll see that I never stated that weed should not be legalized. Quite the opposite.
Whoops you're right I missed that must be because I'm a faggot
[editline]09:59PM[/editline]
Also I didn't claim that was your argument, I using your statement that it's harmful because it's the most common argument I see against marijuana legalization.
More ammo for the pro-cannabis groups, personally i think thats pretty damn useful information. So ladies, mothers-to-be..hit da bong yo :D

It's harmful, but less harmful than tobacco anyway, thus why it'd make sense to legalize it.
Who said smoke?
You can eat it or vape it.
All three have a negative effect on the child.
Every time you don't smoke, Babies die.

Facepunch seems to be gradually pulling out of that hyper-conservative tailspin that it was in for a while there.

It never really had a hyper-conservative tailspin.
It's just the hyper-conservatives were just louder. (much like they are in life)
