They did this a while ago though. Shekau told the world he loved ISIS months ago and ISIS returned the favor and gave them their blessing.
Rumors had been circulating around the terror cell gossip channels for months, but now it's finally confirmed! Boko Haram has signed a 10 year franchising deal with ISIS, and to celebrate, you can head to Syria to claim a free ISIS-Boko Haram T-Shirt, as well as your very own piece of the Middle East in the form of a chunk of a recently demolished historical artifact!

Yes but only now is it making headlines.
Dont know how late i am but i heard NATO has been sending special forces teams to Nigeria to aid then and train their soldiers in counter-terrorism.
As it goes, remove the tumour before it spreads.
Al Qaeda is soo last decade.
So did everyone just forget about Al Qaeda? I mean we killed Osama but last I've heard they were still a big threat.

I do
Sometimes when I'm alone I think to myself, "Is blazyd taking a shit right now?"
"And if so, what is he thinking about?"

Al-Qaeda was behind the Charlie Hebdo attacks.

I imagined him googling "Boko Haram and ISIS alliance" then wondered how many agencies are watching him now.

They're still very strong in Mali, despite major French efforts to eliminate them.
Also Al Qaeda is one of groups responsible in recent government overthrow in Yemen.
And I think there is a strong presence if Al Qaeda in China and Indonesia.
Reason why Al Qaeda lost major coverage is because they're nowhere near to evil of ISIS. Al Qaeda never attempted to genocide any ethnic group, exterminate non-Sunni Muslims, destroy cultural and historical heritages and etc.
They're still horrible people( terrorist attacks mostly aimed at civilian populace, oppressive on Shia Muslims and etc.), but not on Nazi bad ideology level like ISIS is.

Didn't they say that they hated DAESH too?
Didn't they say that they hated DAESH too?
Yep, they despise Daesh. Al Qaeda is very bad, but not genocidal bad.
Even Al Qaeda, funnily enough, has some standards.
That militant group's name sounds like the name of an anime.
I dunno, sounds like a pretentious indie band to me for some reason

You are both wrong. Al Qaeda very much would love to see Shias massacred on end. But they're "playing the long game" so to speak. Right now, their focus is getting non muslims out of the middle east in order to deal with "heretical" muslims.
On top of that, Al Qaeda is a cell-based organization. It has very few members, but it "franchises out" to independent people who give them their allegiance. These cells are too spread out to make a full on assault as DAESH/ISIS is doing.
Don't be fooled that Al Qaeda is somehow marginally better than ISIS. They have the very same goals, just the inability to commit to them all at the moment.

But... you only responded to me.
This won't change much

Oh, did not realize that :v:
Half the time I don't pay attention to posters, just what's said.
