It's bad when it undermines the government operationally. Who do you go after in those cases? Hillary's a dead end and the DNC is a private organization. This comparison doesn't hold any weight outside of that superficial observation.
are you saying you don't want the american people to know the truth? :^)
Leaks are only bad if they make me look like an idiot!
(I wonder why WikiLeaks doesn't seem to publish any of these leaks though?)
Reminds me of when the UK government's memo to stop leaking memos was leaked.
That's a pretty limited set of options. I don't mean to get too far off topic, but what did those leaks even do other than maybe throw the election to Trump?
Selective release of hacked information to completely undermine 1/2 the political system is a pretty big deal. For example if you haven't noticed the Dems have been sorta engaged in a complete "political civil war" since the leaks. It's a huge deal that a foreign power is probably behind a hack/leak that basically completely undermined at least half the system in the most powerful representative democracy in the world, especially when both parties were shown to be hacked and one just so happened to not have any information released on them. Both parties are absolute trash, they're both full of corruption, no one can say with a straight face that the republican's hack might have not revealed anything dirty when it's basically established fact so many of them are bought by corporate interests, engage in crony capitalist practices, etc.
And if anything "giving the election to Trump" is a huge deal. That's 50% of the political climate, and 1/3rd of the government's branches. "throwing an election" like this is a huge deal in a system where there's only 2 parties.
At this point I'd say the only way Trump's administration can survive is to literally purge and replace everyone in the whole government, even if that means appointing people like Sargon of Akkad to key posts.
Hey Whoaly this whole situation confuses me can you find an analogy to the Protestant Reformation so that I can understand better?

Hahahahahahahaha Oh my god
"Let's just throw out every single professional and politician in the government of one of the worlds most powerful countries, and replace them entirely with people like my favourite asshole youtuber"
How disconnected from reality are you?
if he wasn't such a monster, sean spicer would be endearing in how much of a failure he is

im pretty sure you have no idea how civil servants work in most western governments...

ah yes another insane alt-righter who dedicates his entire life to fighting the videogame feminist conspiracy on youtube while utterly ignoring all evidence and fabricating shit to support his views.
sounds like your wet dream.

If the only way that the administration can survive is by removing all opposing force's ability to resist, then he is
A. defying the will of the people and
B. acting like a totalitarian dictator

Where is this whole encryption = bad thing coming from

It's been brewing for a while. Hillary Clinton, too, is on record saying we need a "Manhattan Project" for encryption.
The government does not like encryption.
Good, leak anything and everything from the government. Transparency is paramount to a democratic government and if it's not given willingly it should be taken.

I agree with the sentiment, but certain things like exact current troop locations I believe should be left state secrets in the name of protecting their lives.

If said government operations are actively harming the country and its citizens, I sure as hell would want them to be undermined.

It's weird that someone as right-leaning as you are would so readily trust the government to be entirely correct in its actions and therefore require no oversight and accountability.

If leaks or whistleblowing have the side effect of compromising operations or putting lives at risk it is the government's fault for needing to be leaked from/whisteblown on. (assuming the leak was about something else and incidentally had that kind of information)

I hear that...I find the blind trust in authority to be a common theme among "small government" conservatives.

Again, I agree with the sentiment (leak everything), I just think some discretion is a good thing. That said, 9 times out of 10 I'm pro-leaks.
I dunno how we got to the point where purging all dissent is something people are floating as a good idea.

the government loves encryption but only if they get to use it

That Overton window sure loves moving to the right...even FP isn't immune, it seems.
Stalin purged people who disagreed with him. These folks are just making everybody else's job more difficult, not to mention breaking the law. I'm not in favor of purging government employees (not here, not yet) but it would certainly be an open option.
Governments leak shit. They have to.

People want a transparent government, so the government thinks the people should be transparent, too. It's only fair! :downs:
