And when are people going to realise intelligence is intelligence.
If it learns and adapts information it has acquired to fit into a new situation then it is to some degree intelligent.
And soon we will have intelligent programmes analysing scientific information and discovering new technologies for us.

You can't just leave these programs to their own devices and expect them to learn. You have to give them a problem to solve. You could make an AI capable of flying a plane simulator by selecting for whichever programs get it closest to the destination.
