Goddamn, Thanks Guys I'm glad I didn't have to argue alone.
Britain can no longer call us all racists!! :4chan:
Oh and Mephis, If you're still here like the stubborn fool you are, we didn't need to read the book, the closing sentence basically gave away the entire argument in it's entire paranoid nutcase fashion.
It's not paranoia. It's not foolishness. It's not conspiracy theories. It's rooted in verifiable psychological principles of hypnosis which do work. I found that independently and read it over the past two days, along with loads of independent material on hypnosis that was not linked to any political party or bias.
This paper is reliable. It was written awhile ago and gets overconfident towards the end but the psychological information it bases itself on is fact. Ericksonian hypnosis works. Neuro-Linguistic Programming works. Research it. Look it up on youtube. It is used in therapy.
The sources do check out. Check out Milton Erickson on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_H._Erickson
There are play-by-play breakdowns of Obama's speeches.
They all follow the same format and are intended to hypnotize an audience in the same way that psychologists and hypnotists do.

Ending sentence is not at all indicative of the contents of the book. It's partly an instruction manual on Ericksonian hypnosis and partly an explanation on how Obama utilizes those techniques in his speech. As I said, it can get overconfident but if you look at the sources, and look at the speeches themselves, it's a good source of information. Not nutcased or stupidly biased like you would think. Check my post history. I went crazy over Obama when he won.

So I don't get it do you seriously believe that Obama used hypnosis techniques to hoodwink all the voters, or are you just saying that the paper is based in fact but the authors are crazed :tinfoil: nutjobs?

More likely the second one.
All conspiracy theories have some plausibility but are very unlikely.
I'd like to point out that being a symbol for race and foreign relations improvement and being a good and worthy leader are not mutually exclusive.

True, but I'd take the new guy over McCain any day.
Society is a complicated machine kept together with the duct tape of ignorance and stupidity. Let's weld it together with knowledge and understanding, shall we?

I am saying that based on my OWN research on Ericksonian hypnosis techniques, and a very thorough look at Obama's speeches in California, Denver, Nevada, and his Perfect Union speech, regardless of the information presented in that paper (which I verified to be based on legitimate research, even though it was biased and contained an overconfident letter at the end that was proven wrong) ...
I believe that Obama is intentionally using the fundamental teachings of Ericksonian hypnosis, a form of hypnosis that is utilized by slightly altering body language and everyday speech in a careful manner to send signals to the subconscious mind, to alter people's opinions of him.
Ericksonian hypnosis is a proven technique that is used in hypnotherapy, and it is effective in putting people into light trance states. Obama's speeches are 40-50 minutes long and contain paragraph upon paragraph of these pace-and-lead style suggestions. It happens in every speech and I have pored through them and studied his body language. Over these long speeches audiences become incredibly susceptible to suggestion.
The basics of hypnosis are not that horribly complicated to understand. Courses are available on conversational hypnosis. One course, which the paper I read refers to often, details methodology for hypnosis that is startlingly similar to some of the oratory techniques that Obama uses over and over in all of his speeches.
A big thing you have to realize is that what is happening here is NOT the same as saying "look into my eyes" or waving a pocket watch. This is not the same kind of hypnosis. This is a whole different theory, which is why everyone is laughing and shrugging it off.
Read about Milton Erickson. Read about Neuro Linguistic Programming. About Conversational hypnosis. Do I sound crazy? Illogical?
You do realize what you're saying sounds like some sort of Comic book super-villain plot to take over the world right?

Or a guy adapting a hypnosis technique as a tactic to ensure his chances of winning an election and swaying those who are susceptible to hypnosis, such as young and educated people.
The things he does are tiny things. Really small. Emphasis on certain words. Melody and rhythm in his voice. Body language. Gestures. Vagueness in his slogans. Imagery and symbolism. Strategic pauses in between certain words.
The thing that makes it Ericksonian hypnosis is where and when it happens and that it's consistent. It happens always, always in his speeches and rallies. Not as much during off-the-cuff event like town-halls. There's just so much that coincides with staples of Ericksonian teachings ... and it happens every time. It's so consistent that it's creepy.

You're just splitting hairs. It's a cheap plot hook seen in many comic books and cheap sci-fi novels.
I can't believe we're even arguing this.
I'd be more inclined to believe that John McCain was the Manchurian Candidate

I think that if you tried reading up on the subjects I'm talking about, and then went into that paper that mephis mentioned with a healthy dose of skepticism and read through it and then read its play-by-plays of Obama's speeches ... you might reconsider. You really might. I went into that thing determined I would not believe a single thing unless I verified it myself with my own eyes and ears. I went out with every single thing verified.
Honest to God, I am not trolling you. I am being completely sincere with this. I am not trying to harass.

I took psychology, and you're talking about something that came from mephis, our resident closeted furry neckbeard with survivalist tendencies and a massive paranoia problem.
"A light will shine down frome somewhere, it will light upon you, you'll experience an epiphany, and you'll realize you'll have to vote for Barack."
No, I'm talking about something that he happened to find that I also found myself.

There, now it's my file. Is that better?
And I don't have paranoia problems. I used to like Barack. I encouraged both of my parents to vote for Barack. They originally thought he was muslim. I fought with them for two weeks until I convinced them he was the best choice.
You could use the same argument for many candidates in the past.
I'd be more inclined to believe that I'm actually just imagining all this because it's so cliche it's not even funny.
That that time I almost crashed my car didn't end the way I thought it did and this is just a comatose hallucination spiraling out of control.
That they used hypnotic speech...? Uh-uh. Not like Obama's doing it. His speeches are essentially nothing but pace-and-lead. Stacked language. Transfer of emotion. Hypnotic metaphor. Hypnotic imagery. It's all designed to give an emotional high and put reason to the side so he can speak more to the subconscious. That's why he says "I WILL be the next President" and "YOU ALL HAVE CHOSEN me." Incedibly presumptuous language, no? Arrogant. No one in the crowd ever complains though. He just tells them what to believe.
That's the quote from Obama by the way, in my earlier post, in case you've never heard it. He said that at a rally. Wouldn't you be a little worried if you heard that? Apparently not.
I certainly didn't download that hypnotism pdf, and on the off chance that I did I certainly didn't download it with the intention of hypnotizing people. :v:

If that's true we were fucked either way.
Besides, there's nothing anyone can do now.
Dammit, why does every conservative on this forum turn out to be a mephis alt? The man's some sort of hyrda, you can never beat him because he always comes back, just as ignorant as before.

THEN HE WILL "ACCIDENTALLY"(MORE LIKE TRY TO BECAUSE OF MIND CONTROL) LAUNCH THE MISSILES AT EUROPE AND MAKE THE NEW WORLD ORDER
IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW
The Vietnam War was fought over a bet that Howard Hughes lost to Aristotle Onassis.
