quote one person that said she deserved. go ahead, do it. you literally cant. but i can quote several people accusing others of saying she deserved.
what does that say about you?
Oh so she doesn't deserve it but noone feels sympathy because it was "her fault?"

I don't get you.
I actually do feel sympathy for her because no one should have to go through that shit.
Does that mean people don't have responsibility in the events that happen in their lives?
Would you only be happy if we all just jacked off about our sympathy for her and ignored the causes that allowed this event to happen, namely her actions that exist in the real world and have real world consequences? Does it stick in your craw to try and both have sympathy for a person, and truthfully acknowledge their actions without ignoring context and consequence?

I didn't say people should be forced to feel sympathy. But considering she was advised poorly people are shifting the blame to it being her fault.

I just honestly think you don't understand what I'm saying and I've said it so many times in so many different ways that I don't think you want to

I wonder how much sympathy a mid 30's-40's man would get in this thread.
I'm guessing none because they're supposed to be tech savvy, right?
My point is it doesn't matter who you are or what you do, you exist in a world where there are people who want to go after you. That sucks, but you can't change it, you have to deal with it. For all intents and purposes, it seems that talking about realitys potentially harsh nature to ones simple mistakes has sent some of you into a fucking tizzy.
she did a dumb so she should have her entire life ruined because of it : D
Especially if she didn't manage the security of her site, 100% her fault! So she should have her identity stolen, her income trashed, her credit destroyed, because she made a mistake and we should all be OK with it because we dislike her!
Nobody said that, doxxing objectively bad in my opinion and that applies to all, just like freedom of speech, which applies even to people I disagree with. Buuuuut, none of that means I gotta like Leslie Jones, my main issue with her is that being against smart comics bit, that basically makes her an anti intellectual which is the one thing that ruins a person for me no matter what other amazing traits they have.
Having said that: it goes without saying it sucks this shit happened to her, fuck the people that did it etc etc, it's really not enough of a conversation for me to post about. Discussing her opinions however is an actual discussion.

i don't feel sympathy for her because this is the direct result to her several poor decisions she made. does that mean i'm blaming her? no. it means i'm not ignoring the chain of events that lead to this. does it mean i think she deserves it? no. it means i'm not ignoring the chain of events that lead to this. why do you seem to think that feeling no sympathy = thinking she deserved it.
since i know you're going to conveniently ignore that, i'll repeat it in bold for you.
why do you seem to think that feeling no sympathy = thinking she deserved it?
she is an uninformed user of technology. you know what happens when you use something without being uninformed on the proper use of said thing? you use it wrong. does that mean you deserve every bad thing that happens to you? no. does that mean you deserve sympathy for not educating yourself? no.
i'm not taking her side, nor am i condoning the attacks against her. she is just some person that is in the news right now, and may or may not be in the future. i am as neutral as you can get on her. i have never seen anything she has been in, i have never listened to any of her comedy, literally all i know her for are "if you dont like this person you're sexist/racist!!!", "this person did something on twitter a while ago", and now "this person stored their personal info on a webserver and said webserver got hacked". my opinions on her are formed on only that last one, because it's the only thing i've read about her that i can actually form an opinion on.
my opinion is that she is using a technology while being uninformed of its proper use. that is her fault. and i'll rephrase this so you can't just take that one sentence and say "SEE YOU SAID ITS HER FAULT!!!" like i know you want to. her ignorance on the basics of safety 101 on the internet is her fault. her ignorance lead to her being hacked. the hack is the result of her ignorance. if she was less ignorant, she would not have been hacked. the hack was NOT ethical or justified, but if she was less ignorant, the hack would NOT have happened in the first place.
you can't just ignore causality so you can sit on your high horse and pretend you're better than anyone else. you're not. you're just an ass.
What did she do to piss internet off like this?
What did she do to piss internet off like this?
She attempted to "fight back" agaisnt trolls on twitter, this put her in a spotlight to EVEN WORSE trolls who knew which buttons to push, and she continued to feed them reactions, going as far as to re-post what they sent her including things like furry porn and the "niggerz bop" song.
Now there's basically a target on her back to other internet trolls, which is most likely what this hack was about.
I didn't say people should be forced to feel sympathy. But considering she was advised poorly people are shifting the blame to it being her fault.
No one's piling blame entirely on her and the world isn't black and white. Being a victim of an attack doesn't suddenly eliminate anything you personally did/did not do that contributed to it.
It's completely valid to say she could have been more careful and thought about where to store that content especially since it's personal.
That doesn't suddenly mean she is entirely the cause of this but she was definitely careless at one point and that is something she, and potentially anyone else who stores things similarly, should think about a lot more.
It's one thing to dismiss it as "eh, she's 49 years old, she's not tech savvy, cut her some slack", but even then, what makes you think that storing something so personal as nude pics on "The Cloud" (in this case, somewhere deep down her website) was a reasonable idea to begin with?
Never change, FP.
My mother just recently learned herself that every photo she takes is sent to Google photos from her phone. She didn't know it was happening.
I completely wouldn't put it past her to not know what photos were where. Is it still super irresponsible? Yeah, you should learn what your phone does with clouds. Is it unbelievable that she wouldn't know what was uploaded to her cloud? I think no but that's me
