Star Wars can be very good when it's done with a much higher level of seriousness added to it's characters. It has been shown in CG movie clips for games like Star Wars the Old Republic, that Star Wars can be even better than the movies, even without Lucas's help![/QUOTE] How the fuck does putting an interactive trailer in Portal 2 make it a movie that appeals to "30 year olds with big manly hairy balls"? Portal 2 was probably one of the most casual games that Valve has ever put out. If you honestly thought it was going to be some horror movie you should have at least attempted to watch the trailers, because it was pretty clear it was going to be a homage to E.T. and The Goonies. In my opinion, JJ is the perfect choice for a Star Wars movie. He obviously has a lot of room to fuck up, but I think he has the right people around to make sure he doesn't.

Yes but he also wrote Super 8 and that was one hell of a generic movie in terms of writing.

JJ Abrams isn't writing the script for the new Star Wars movie so it doesn't really matter.

The point being that he had to answer to the people he was working with, and that stopped the crazier ideas from making it to the screen. That's Lucas' problem, IMO, he has good ideas and bad ideas, and during the prequel trilogy there was nobody to separate one from the other.
