The whole cover photo is ominous, it's like they made it look more sinister by purpose.
I hope he becomes president
A sequel to "Watch the Throne" with Jay-Z as Vice President and Kanye as President called "On the Throne" would be lit.

That's probably the point. Time has a record of being a bit overdramatic.
just realized the cover says "president of the divided states of america" hah epic zinger by time
even if it is a bit dramatic, we are fairly divided. The popular vote wasn't in Trumps favor, so that's going to just entrench anti-trump folks more. It also seems like Trump voters are fairly irritated in turn with the mindset that exists in the so-called "bubble" of liberalism, so I think it's going to be a tough few years tbh
You know who else used to shitpost this hard?
Hitler.
Then he died. Coincidence?
You know who else was Time Person of the Year?
Hitler.

You know who else was Time Person of the Year?
You.
Facepunch is hitler confirmed
I disagree with time magazine's definition of the word "person"
I disagree with time magazine's definition of the word "person"
I mean they literally nominated the fucking planet for the world once.
Their definition has been stretched to meaninglessness.

The division started long before the election.
Personally I hoped I'd be person of the year again
Work hard and someday you'll be the person of the year.

Well, are they wrong?
loving that cover photography
especially how his shadow is looming in the background somewhat threateningly
looking back at previous presidential person of the year covers is weird
it goes from this:

to this:
[thumb]http://img.timeinc.net/time/magazine/archive/covers/2008/1101081229_400.jpg[/thumb]
and then they turn obama into a sith lord:
I bet this makes his ego hard, all this recognition for nothing.
Well, nothing aside from earning the highest office in the United States and by extension the entire planet. Aside from that, yeah, nothing.

I wonder if it was intentional that the 'M' lined up behind his head almost as though he has little demon horns? Kinda funny.
dayym dats raycis 'nam sayin??
That is racist.
Objectively Trump became the face of conservative revolution going on. I still do think he would be the person of the year even if he hadn't won. Liberal Hillary would be just too mainstream and predictible to be honoured, but Trump's success would deifinietly not. Even if not he, then maybe Farage.
I was curious who else had gotten it so I looked it up.
Some guy named Hugh Johnson got it in 1933 :v:
I wonder if 2020's election will be as volatile and depressing after this year's.
The bar has been set extraordinarily low.
The division started long before the election.
Divisions that worsened due to the Republican's hatred of Obama, then Trump widened those divisions and used them to his advantage. I'm starting to wonder if divide and conquer is their new strategy, turn the people on each other and use that hatred to boost yourself into power.

Honestly, I don't think you can narrow the cause of this trend down to a single side or even say that this is a problem thats unique to the US, I mean my country is sadly getting more and more polarized too along with other European nations. This is the global political climate we have right now.

It's true, you can't. But having a Congress that refuses to work with the President out of spite was certainly something new in the US. They used the hatred this generated to sweep the elections and put the whole world and the future of humanity at risk. Worse yet is all that is happening, here and around the world, is shaking people's faith in democracy. If people lose faith in democracy, it becomes weak, and worst case scenario: we may lose it, and people will be cheering when we do.

wtf

It's like a tl;dr summary, just for 140 characters
I think he deserves the title, despite being a complete jackass. He basically blindsided half of the world, completely bucked the conventional order of American politics. It's alarming that he's president, but his rise to being the elect is pretty astonishing.

it reminds me of a toddler and convinces me more and more each time I see it that Trump is, in fact, a toddler
