Fox's stages of denial: * Trump did not leak anything * It not a big deal * It might be a big deal, but not illegal * Hillary did much worse
So this was during the same conversation in which Russian media were allowed into the White House / Oval Office, but American media were not. That's fucking hilarious. Trump is [fill in pretty much any negative word here].
well don't leave us hanging, what's it called
r/trumpcriticizestrump
Looks like he might have blown it We'll probably know by the end of the day which country's intel Trump spilled
r/trumpcriticizestrump
good lord the amount of conspiracy theory posts about that sub getting onto /r/all :sbhj:
It's Ukraine I'm sure.
Ukraine? Do they even have an intel operation against IS? I'm kind of assuming it's one of the Five Eyes countries
Ukraine? Do they even have an intel operation against IS? I'm kind of assuming it's one of the Five Eyes countries
I'm thinking this news isn't directly tied to IS operations rather than to the general breach of confidentiality. Not a NATO country, but Ukraine is cooperating with US and any leak to direction of Russia would be vastly damaging to it. No other country has as much to lose for leaking to Russia.
No, it's not. Treason does not automatically occur whenever classified documents are swapped with a foreign nation. Stop fucking saying it's treason. Treason is the only crime defined clearly and succinctly in the American Constitution, as follows: While some parts were moved around, the United States code ultimately does not alter the description to any degree past specifying the actual sentence. Treason requires you to specifically assist an enemy, someone who is officially at war with the US. Last I checked, Russia isn't at war with the United States. Last I checked, they've been at peace with each other for a while now and they're both members of the United Nations since that whole thing came to exist. Trump is within his presidential functions to divulge this information. This doesn't mean he's not an incompetent buffoon who has no perception of the weight of his functions, with a completely reckless use of his clearance and with absolutely no diplomatic game whatsoever. But he's not a traitor.
If we're going by the exact wording of the law, America technically hasn't been at war with anyone since World War 2. America may not be actively at war with Russia but their relationship is anything but peaceful.

Although you are right, in case of that statement, breach of confidentiality is the issue. If Trump shows he can't keep confidental information, other countries do not wish to share that intel, especially if it can harm safety/interest of them or their allies.
We've gone from "this is fake news" to "yeah I did it so what"

I just got when Trump gets removed from office, it regains the trust of or allies
If the past week is any indication of things to come, Trump will probably just confirm the WaPo article by accident in an early-morning tweetstorm, right after has staff go on the record saying the whole thing never happened.

Well, shit.
There's more coming
He hasn't tweeted anything since this and I'm wondering if he's trying to find the # key or if the ellipses were just because he writes like a 13 year old.
Trump's twitter banner is great. Makes me want to tweet him "Hey, Nice header. Do any black people work with you?"
imagine publicly defending your dear leader only for him to come out and loudly incriminate himself hours later I would feel bad if it wasn't so fucking funny
imagine publicly defending your dear leader only for him to come out and loudly incriminate himself hours later I would feel bad if it wasn't so fucking funny
Wouldnt make much difference if he was guilty, his own bold statement that he would still have a load of supporters if he shot somebody in broad daylight considered on that front. At this point it's quite easy to see that his die-hards will support him to the end, even if he gets impeached and tossed on his ass into a prison cell. At that point, they'd probably issue a call to arms against the "Deep State" to liberate the country from those damned leftist scum. :downs:
Yeah he's actually admitted to it. What do you say about that, people who screamed "anonymous sources can't be trusted?"
I'm gonna go ahead and guess radio silence, maybe a thread about Hillary doing something shady years ago, and then we'll see the resident Trump babysitters next controversy in a couple of days.
There's more coming
Something that feels extremely comforting is scrolling through the replies on this and not finding a single defense of these actions. It's just people berating him. It feels good.
has nesto imploded from embarrassment yet having argued till he was blue in the face that trump didn't give intel, now that trump has tweeted admitting he has given intel
has nesto imploded from embarrassment yet having argued till he was blue in the face that trump didn't give intel, now that trump has tweeted admitting he has given intel
No, that's not how he operates. He did the exact same thing when Comey was fired, arguing vehemently that the allegations of Comey being fired for his directorship of the Russian investigation were all false, and stating that if they were proven true he would change his tune and find that disturbing. The next day, Trump admitted that Comey was fired for just that, and Nesto immediately jumped to a different angle of defense instead.
I think we should all learn from this and ignore nesto before he turns into the new Tudd
I think we should all learn from this and ignore nesto before he turns into the new Tudd
I don't think Tudd's head was as buried in the sand as nesto's. Nesto is living in a dark cave underground.
Just switched to Fox for a moment. They're focusing on tracing the source of the press leak, with anonymous statements from WH officials saying things like "It's horrible that someone would leak this info to the press, this poses a big risk to national security" without a hint of irony. Talk about shooting the messenger. On a more optimistic note, Krauthammer said that without intent, Trump's leak doesn't constitute "high crimes and misdemeanors." Just the fact that he's talking in terms of impeachment shows how dramatically the conversation has shifted. Methinks Fox senses a change in the wind?
