The guidelines for Polidicks say we can only use sites with Center-Left, Center, or Center-Right bias. Daily Beast has Left bias so I think it would be against the sub-forum rules for me to post it.
This is true. IIRC someone was banned because they used thehill.com as a source. The rules should also apply to similarly biased sites from the left.
This is true. IIRC someone was banned because they used thehill.com as a source. Anecdotally, I think that source isn't too biased, but I won't derail the thread any further over this. I hope another news site that falls under the allowed criteria covers the allegation, because if it's true, Trump could have really, really, really fucked things up.

Are you talking about "Trump Revealed Intel on the Most Serious Plot Against U.S. Planes Since 9/11" ?
You should just post it at this point.
The site alleged that some of the intel discussed included the laptop ban. CNN touches upon this somewhat so I'll use them as my source in the context of trying to follow the thread rules, but the gist is that bombs could be snuck in through using laptop batteries to cause another 9/11 scale threat. http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/15/politics/trump-russia-classified-information/
Laptop threat In April, CNN first reported that US intelligence and law enforcement agencies believed that ISIS and other terrorist organizations had developed new ways to place explosives in laptops and other electronic devices to evade airport security screening methods. US intelligence suggested that terrorists had obtained sophisticated airport security equipment that allowed them to test how to effectively conceal explosives in electronic devices, CNN reported at the time. That intelligence led the Trump administration to ban travelers flying out of 10 airports in eight countries in the Middle East and Africa from carrying electronic devices larger than cell phones aboard planes. The United Kingdom, which possessed the same intelligence, placed a similar prohibition on passengers flying from six countries, including two that were not on the US list. Officials told CNN that the ban came about following the collection of intercepted material and "human intelligence." The Department of Homeland Security is reportedly considering expanding the electronics ban to flights from Europe to the United States.
To answer Nesto's question, that was the article I was alluding to, but I'm not going to discuss it too heavily unless a source that fits the forum rules here also covers it in more detail. CNN kinda touches on some aspects of it.
Crazy how many of trump's supporters have made it a part of their identity and who they are, such that anything against trump is a personal attack on them they must defend against at all costs no matter how dumb the hill they choose to die on becomes.

They started the ban a few months ago(without telling people why, at the time) and every automatically assumed Muslim ban 3.0. And then they started reporting on the laptop threat shortly after. His article isn't anything spectacular past the incredibly clickbait headline.
Ah yes tell Russia secrets from Israel. Russia who is friends with Iran. This will go over well
I don't know what there is left to say at this point. Anyone still supporting the Trump administration is legitimately mentally ill and needs to see a doctor.
Even Nixons supporters left him eventually Some of the people here are making me question the limits of reason and sanity
Even Nixons supporters left him eventually Some of the people here are making me question the limits of reason and sanity
I really wonder where we'd be right now if it weren't for Trump's personality cult. We all know the Republicans would love to have President Pence or even Ryan but they realize their constituents back home are so attached to Trump as an individual and not a politician that they would immediately bite them in the ass for pushing an impeachment. How long would Nixon have lasted, had he had the same level of devotion?

Interesting tidbit from BBC regarding the legality of what he did http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-39933966?ocid=socialflow_facebook&ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbcnews&ns_source=facebook It's honestly amazing just how thin a line Trump walks with this country and the "just barely legal" actions he seems to take. Insanity I tell ya.

Insanity I tell ya.

Have any other presidents done this? It's not unheard of for the White House to reveal classified details to foreign governments, according to David Priess, author of the President's Book of Secrets. President George W Bush had several foreign leaders join him for daily classified briefings, including British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and Russian President Vladimir Putin. But as Mr Priess explains, the CIA prepared special briefing material to ensure nothing was shared that would jeopardise US intelligence. In Mr Trump's case, however, the CIA did not appear to be alerted of his plan to reveal information, according to the Washington Post report.
That's the damning paragraph. Trump didn't do anything against the law - but he certainly did something irrational, dumb, and very much on the spot.
It really is shocking the lengths trump supporters will go to to defend his actions when a year ago they would of laughed at you if you said stuff like this would happen
That's the damning paragraph. I really think he's so compulsive and thin skinned that he acts irrational and does dumb shit like this that yet again we have to exhaustingly listen to the damage control from the WH. I'm sick of his shit and the WH really. A lot of people are.

Nope. But it does say a lot if we elected someone held legally insane as president...

How long would Nixon have lasted, had he had the same level of devotion?
It's a trap for the Republicans. They didn't care for Trump for the most part during the campaign, especially towards the beginning, and when the Hollywood Access recording was leaked. However, he was the popular candidate. Eventually, to win the brownie points offered by their voter base, they submitted to supporting Trump. To this day, they support what he does and detract the scandals in support of him because it's what they think will keep their voter's support in their favor, now that they've spent all these years spinning an anti-Obama/Democrat narrative. For them to admit that Trump is awful NOW, after garrisoning themselves around his success as they have, would be akin to political suicide, where their own voter base would eat them alive at the polls, particularly among those who still believe Trump is a good president. They would likely be labeled as traitors if they were to do so.
They would likely be labeled as traitors if they were to do so.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Either way, they end up betraying someone. The question is, do you betray your country or a portion of your constituents?
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Either way, they end up betraying someone. The question is, do you betray your country or a portion of your constituents?
The only people they would ultimately betray if they did the right thing for the country, would be themselves and their party. The good of the nation should be above their petty power squabbles.
If Obama had done any of this you guys would be flipping tables and punching liberals clawing for answers but here you sit complacent as fuck with daddy don telling you lies to your face through the White House which you all lap up like the obedient loyal voters he wanted you to be when he then comes out and says stuff with his own mouth face and twitter account that contradicts this you can't even have the honesty to YOURSELVES to talk about this plainly
To be fair that's to be expected. Republicans gnaw at the bit to expose trash on Democrats. Democrats gnaw at the bit to expose trash on Republicans. This is going to be the same thing we had with Republicans complaining about every little thing Obama did except with the roles reversed. I typically think the truth is somewhere in between, since both sides have incentive to distort the truth. But dirt should be looked at either way, since one side has incentive to investigate potential shenanigans while the other has incentive to downplay it.

Like Obama vs a theoretical McCain would be a fair comparison but whilst 90% of Obama controversy i.e. the birther movement was flat-out invented by conspiracy theorists, the leaks against Trump are both well founded and infinitely more damning.

The great Obama controversy was about him being a Muslim Kenyan Socialist who wanted to topple Christianity in favor of mandatory Sharia Law -- ridiculous and completely baseless claims (pushed heavily, go figure, by Trump himself). Looking past the absurdity of those accusations, there is one major difference with the Trump scenario: actual evidence exists to support the allegations. With every passing day, more evidence mounts to support accusations of potential treason, willing collusion with a hostile foreign government to seize political power. Perhaps more damningly than that, however, the administration has already been caught with its pants down committing multiple high crimes of office, including intimidation, obstruction of justice, and blackmail, in direct attempts to disrupt or stop the investigation into those charges. The only 1:1 comparison in our country's history that draws close to this is Nixon's Watergate, and even that pales in severity next to what we're looking at within the Trump administration. Well said.
I wasn't even considering the birther thing as a republican bitching topic, because that wasn't the only one.

No offense OvB but did you even read the thread.
