It's the only thing I can think of which could have got Obama impeached if it were in any way true. My point still applies though. Much like the WaPo vs Fox bias vs credibility issue, whilst many people might disagree on policy with Obama, he was always clearly competent and there were no well grounded accusations of anything other than being a bit more liberal on some issues and possibly expanding the use of executive orders.

Regardless, stating that any one of the accusations of impropriety levied at the Obama administration are even within the same realm of credibility and severity as Trump's simply isn't accurate. What we're looking at with the Trump administration is unprecedented, and the evidence to support the accusations is becoming overwhelming.
You watch Fox News at any point in the last 8 years and they were always being hyper critical about Benghazi, the IRS, Fast and Furious, Eric Holder, Iran, etc, etc. The Republicans looked for every opportunity to cry fowl about Obama's legitimacy. I feel we're going to see the same thing for the duration of Trump's Presidency (however long that may be)

I'm not defending Trump's actions I just see a hint of humor in how vigorously the two sides are willing to tear into each other calm down people.

Again, Fox isn't comparable to any news source other than maybe MSNBC, and the accusations against Trump are on a different planet to any of those. Additionally, while Fox will actively lie to make stories, the Washington Post and NYT are credible news organisations.

Oh yeah, I'm not trying to dispute that. I'm just saying that the chief difference here lies in the credibility of the claims, the evidence supporting them, and the severity of the repercussions in our political system should they prove true.

Trump's disclosure endangered spy placed inside ISIS by Israel, officials say
The life of a spy placed by Israel inside ISIS is at risk tonight, according to current and former U.S. officials, after President Donald Trump reportedly disclosed classified information in a meeting with Russian officials last week.
The spy provided intelligence involving an active ISIS plot to bring down a passenger jet en route to the United States, with a bomb hidden in a laptop that U.S. officials believe can get through airport screening machines undetected. The information was reliable enough that the U.S. is considering a ban on laptops on all flights from Europe to the United States.
The sensitive intelligence was shared with the United States, officials say, on the condition that the source remain confidential.
"The real risk is not just this source," said Matt Olsen, the former Director of the National Counterterrorism Center and an ABC News contributor, "but future sources of information about plots against us."

My comment wasn't in regards to the severity of the claims. Just the eagerness of either side to find damning evidence to bring down the President. We saw it for 8 years, and if Trump pulls through this we're going to see it for the remainder of his Presidency.
Luckily for the Dems, it just might be that Trump has given them enough material to actually bring down the President. We'll have to see.
*It was also a comment on the willingness to defend the person being accused even when they're obviously wrong, simply because they're on your team.
That's true, but in this case the accusations are pretty well-founded. It's dangerous to get into anything resembling false equivalence between Obama/Clinton and Trump, because Trump is on an entirely different level. Remember back at the beginning when he basically called John McCain a pussy? That alone was far worse than literally anything Obama or Clinton has ever said, and looking back it's considered a minor roadbump on the never-ending roller coaster of insanity that is Donald Trump.

A theory but the potential difference here is that Obama wasn't lying about his popularity and taking credit for everything positive even when he really didn't do anything, potentially colluding with Russia(which some members of his administration might be guilty of) and trying to literally get rid of opposition and advocating prison for journalists whilst labeling them enemies of the state. People had the sense that Obama wasn't perfect and has his downside but he was a leader and valued democracy in comparison to Trump who just comes off as a whiner who can't take criticism and has undemocratic tendencies.
Trump's presidency hasn't even been half a year and is already filled with shady shit, corruption and questionable behavior that a democratic president shouldn't have, so the reactions are even bigger given that he's already extremely unpopular and the hope of getting rid of him and returning to a relatively normal administration makes everyone noticeably eager for it.

I hear what you're saying, and it's no great secret that I find Trump's policies and rhetoric to be deplorable and would love to see him burned if only to prevent the worst of his promises coming to fruition, but this ceased being a strictly partisan issue for me some time ago, and I should hope the same would be true for everybody else. Trump's crimes of office threaten the integrity of our entire federal government, our entire electoral process, and the national security of not only the United States, but that of most of our closest allies. Republican or Democrat, that's some very serious shit. I'll rail against his policy when his policy is important to the discussion: this has gone far beyond that point.

And rolling down the palace steps before the decade is out. Or at the very least, with electrodes affixed to either side in a well-funded sanitarium.
Considering that last post, the latter would probably be preferable. On the one hand, I would relish the notion of this being key to pushing him out of office. But on the other hand, dementia's a terrible, terrible thing.

It feels like that sometimes. I doubt there isn't a person on this plane of existence that disagrees.
Mr McMaster also revealed that Mr Trump decided to declassify the information "in the context of the conversation" with Russian officials, not beforehand.
Mr Trump, in a tweet sent Tuesday morning, cited "humanitarian reasons" for making the disclosure.
"As President I wanted to share with Russia (at an openly scheduled W.H. meeting) which I have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety," he wrote.
I feel like that's a very big in theory considering the amount of legal leeway politicians and even celebrities get.
Could you imagine being in the county jail with the President over night though? That would be wild.

It would mean 1/3 of the last 9 US Presidents have faced impeachment proceedings (unless I'm forgetting something). That's actually pretty fucked.
