They took out features that were industry standard, forcing the players to accept dlc as the only custom content, and shit like that is catching on with other games.

Yes, a publisher always has a say on content etc, but Bungie lays golden eggs so I doubt Activision would interfere too much, at least for the first game.

They have been since they split with Microsoft in 2007, the deal they signed with Activision is only a publishing deal. But honestly I think they are beyond the general image associated with indie devs, and why the hell include companies like Valve and Epic in there.
He's the CEO, he doesn't need to give a shit about any part of the consumers except their money. As long as the developers are passionate about it and have fun, there's no harm in the CEO being a CEO. If you want to complain about the ethics of capitalism, that's a whole different discussion. The only thing I can think of that Activision has screwed up as a publisher is the whole Infinity Ward controversy, but now IW is going to make a new IP, which sounds like a good deal to me.
