bbc3 was good bad education and sex, sun and suspicious parents are the shit
In that case it won't save money at all (on Freeview anyway, I dunno how its shared on other platforms). Quite a silly move..
Not what they say:
According to industry newspaper Broadcast, moving BBC Three online "would amount to a sizeable step" towards delivering Lord Hall's £100m savings target by 2016. The channel's service budget was £85m in 2013/14 - although moving the channel online would not eradicate those costs entirely.

Why not BBC4? All they have there are extremely specific interest documentaries. I mean who would miss "Great British Railway Journeys" or "Parks and Recreation"?
Isn't parks and rec that quality mockumentary series or is this some other thing :v:
BBC3 showed quite a few good shows in it's running. Anyone watch Being Human? :P It got kind of bad when the original cast left, but it was pretty damn good for the first 2 or so seasons.
Because BBC 3's target audience is 18-34 and most of them watch shows online anyway
I don't :c then again this could encourage me to do something more productive with late nights, rather than watching repeats of (mostly) shit programmes [editline]5th March 2014[/editline]
I stopped watching BBC3 when I realised that I only watched American Dad on it. The only channels I seem to watch now are QUEST and Dave. Both channels chock full of delicious repeats of shows I know not to be bad. I think I'm in the target age group for BBC3, but not the actual target market.
Will this affect QI?
Why not BBC4? All they have there are extremely specific interest documentaries. BBC4 is a gem, sometimes a really rare doc will be shown and overall it's worth much more than Eastenders and Crap New Seth Macfarlane shows.
BBC Four’s primary role is to reflect a range of UK and international arts, music and culture. It should provide an ambitious range of innovative, high quality programming that is intellectually and culturally enriching, taking an expert and in-depth approach to a wide range of subjects.
BBC3's purpose is to showcase how much money bbc like to waste.
Now where will I watch my repeats of Family Guy
If you have Sky then FOX, although expect a 5 minute advert break every 10 minutes
Will this affect QI?
qi airs on two
but where else am i going to watch family guy/american dad repeats when I'm high? seriously though this is bullshit, young people still have to pay their TV license so why shouldn't they get a channel that caters to them?
I find BBC3 easy viewing when there's nothing else on, and while they're not always that funny, sometimes American Dad and similar shows are better to watch than some of the other stuff on TV.
But also where four of the BBCs most popular shows started: Little Britain, Torchwood, Being Human and Gavin & Stacy. Without the assistance BBC three gives to up and coming comedians and writers those programs would not exist.
Little Britain started out on the radio before going to BBC 3 and given it's popularity it was only a matter of time before it would get on TV, the rest, fair play but I have always been of the opinion that BBC 3 was the Beebes dumping ground for shows they weren't that confidant in but if they did well then they were DEFINITELY behind it from the start. Though If I'm honest I think that the net is the best place for BBC 3 to exist, given the viewing habits of their target audience.

I think you are right though about it being a dumping ground, they have probably seen it as a low risk channel for testing new things on (which is good).
As long as Dave keeps showing QI I'll be happy. Maybe a cheeky episode of have I got news for you if I'm feeling posh.
Seen this in the comments 1. BBC3 air's on the same digital band as one of the 2 children's channels. After 7pm the same frequency just switches to another channel, so it will be wasted bandwidth that they still pay for. 2. They are proposing to still produce the program content, just put it online only. So where exactly are you saving money? you still pay for the broadcast bandwidth and the content.

I liked all of the main trio to some degree or another, but when [sp]Mitchell went it seemed to turn into Annie and George whining for an hour every week[/sp]. Plus, I wish Herrick had more screentime. He was a great villain.
Nice spoiler there
Nice spoiler there
The show's been over for years at this point, but I'll tag it nonetheless.
