Yeah, okay, but you'll look like an idiot if you get that heated over a cell phone ringing. I don't give a fuck who you are. The way the conductor handled this almost made him worse than the guy whose phone rang.
yeah man I love hearing default iPhone tunes during a performance, let the guy continue with his chat with the boss, adds mood to the song. If I was entertaining people, and I had to hear a god damn annoying ringtone as I conduct music, I would be fucking pissed.
The conductor sounds like a real douche

Mahler Ninth is the composer’s final completed symphony, the last movement of which is a measured contemplation on death that ultimately falls silent. The composer’s work has special meaning to the New York Philharmonic which Mahler conducted during the final years of his life.
[editline]12th January 2012[/editline]
Yeah, okay, but you'll look like an idiot if you get that heated over a cell phone ringing. You say it as though he jumped down to the audience and started beating the guy up.
At least remember to put it on silent..goddamn it's not hard it's one flick of a button on the side of the iphone
May not of been smart to leave your phone on but the conductor is still an asshole. Just an orchestra.
Anybody that defends the person in the audience really needs to get some perspective.
I thought the conductor sticks doubled as spears so they could kill anyone who let their phone go off or disrupted the performance. Or maybe I just the wrong kind of performance...
May not of been smart to leave your phone on but the conductor is still an asshole. Just an orchestra.
haha yes it's just a little orcestra thing, not a big deal at all
haha yes it's just a little orcestra thing, not a big deal at all
Not really. Something small went wrong and the guy flipped shit, really unprofessional. Not saying it was professional that the phone went off but that was just a mistake.
lmao even worse than cell phones is when people take little kids to the movies/concert halls who have those fucking shoes that light up with every step and then dont keep the child from wandering around the theater
Not really. Something small went wrong and the guy flipped shit, really unprofessional. Not saying it was professional that the phone went off but that was just a mistake.
I would flip shit too if it was my job to practice something to perfection only to have it interrupted during an important performance. Personal mobile phones have been around for nearly 20 damn years, it should be a basic practice (not to mention common courtesy) to shut the damn thing off in situations like this.
Not really. Something small went wrong and the guy flipped shit, really unprofessional. Not saying it was professional that the phone went off but that was just a mistake.
The guy was well within his right and very professional. The jackass in the audience got what he deserved.
Not really. Something small went wrong and the guy flipped shit, really unprofessional. Not saying it was professional that the phone went off but that was just a mistake.
I wouldn't call a loud phone going off at the most important part of a philharmonic orchestra "small."
Not really. Something small went wrong and the guy flipped shit, really unprofessional. Not saying it was professional that the phone went off but that was just a mistake.
Who gives a shit, the guy pissed everyone off by interrupting, who cares if the conductor got pissed.
Who gives a shit, the guy pissed everyone off by interrupting, who cares if the conductor got pissed.
Yes but one was intentional, one wasn't. If you ask me the conductor is an asshole who takes his job to seriously. Music isn't about being pissed and having everything just right, it's about chilling it and having fun. Fuck ups happen but you just gotta get over it.
How anyone here is defending the guy in the audience is absolutely fucking beyond me. Folks, conductors and orchestra's pour their heart and soul into their performances, no different than any other type of artist out there. Having an interruption like that is inexcusable. Hell, imagine if something like this happened while you were watching a particularly moving part of a movie (say, for example, the Grey Havens scene in Return of the King). Now imagine the director, the cast, and the production team were in the audience as well. Your cell phone going off would ruin the entire goddamn experience for everyone. Its not sitting around in your garage with a bunch of your buddies drinking beer and plinking away at a couple of guitars and beating on some drums. Also, considering that this was a performance for an entire audience, and the jackass interrupted it, it was pretty damned serious.

If hendrix were alive he would of laughed it off and improvised a fucking awesome solo based off the ring tone.
Insult? Lmao. If hendrix were alive he would of laughed it off and improvised a fucking awesome solo based off the ring tone.
This isn't some rock concert or band performance, this is a symphony philharmonic performing classical music.
I'm beginning to believe you've never actually seriously delved into classical music, or participated in a local orchestra.
Nope, then again I don't like orchestra music. It just takes itself to seriously for me.

This isn't some small-time shitty band, it's a big deal.
Insult? Lmao. If hendrix were alive he would of laughed it off and improvised a fucking awesome solo based off the ring tone.
Thus proving you know precisely jack shit about music.
Insult? Lmao. If hendrix were alive he would of laughed it off and improvised a fucking awesome solo based off the ring tone.
Classical orchestra =/= classic rock. The difference in atmosphere between the two could hardly be more different.
Thus proving you know precisely jack shit about music.
No, it proves I don't know much about classical music. [editline]12th January 2012[/editline]
Classical orchestra =/= classic rock. The difference in atmosphere between the two could hardly be more different.
Which is probably why I don't like classical music then.
No, it proves I don't know much about classical music. [editline]12th January 2012[/editline] Which is probably why I don't like classical music then.
Okay. Then stop disrespecting it.
Nope, then again I don't like orchestra music. It just takes itself to seriously for me.
Considering it is a very old and refined form of music, comprised of many pieces carefully composed to achieve certain effects, with a lot of time and patience devoted to it.
No, it proves I don't know much about classical music. Which is probably why I don't like classical music then.
Then why were you trying to defend an idiot when you don't have a clue about what you're talking about?
Then why were you trying to defend an idiot when you don't have a clue about what you're talking about?
Because I enjoy making myself look like an idiot.
Because I enjoy making myself look like an idiot.
Well congratulations! You did an exceptional job at that!
