• [Europe]MP3 Player Default Maximum Volume Settings to be Lowered

People playing music so loud in their ears that you can hear it across any large room makes me shake my head and picture them as some deaf old guy/woman yelling "What? What? I can't hear you!"
I hear this all the time and from my option that's fucking stupid. Oh hey a great idea! Lets legalize drugs! It's peoples own choise to use them! After a year the system collapses as half of the mandkind are too high on heroin to give a fuck about doing their job. Get the idea? You have to protect people from themselfs. Also they don't know all the risks.
The law isn't stopping most drug users from doing drugs, you know. It's not like the average working man is going to shoot up heroin just for the sake of it being legal.
Should just get closed-back headphones.

Oh Just MP3 Players? Well nevermind then. I just use my mini laptop with earplugs, sweet.
Everybody's complaining, but is it really like the current max volume setting is the 'perfect' volume? Why isn't it 50% louder? If it WAS 50% louder and they were like, "lol, dropping it by 5%" you'd all have a fucking fit. People can find a way to bitch about anything. Fuck.
It's incredibly stupid anyway because of the fact that different headphones have different ohms impedance and dB sensitivity. Some people actually do have to turn it up to the max setting.
The law isn't stopping most drug users from doing drugs, you know. I think the intention is reduce things happening like drivers with MP3 players in their ears not hearing ambulance sirens. Kind of dumb nonetheless.
Read on! I understand the idea... But I don't agree with it. It's like smoking... You choose to damage your lungs, just like you choose to blow your ears out. I love having my MP3 on full blast.:buddy:
Yes, but you don't get to choose whether or not I smoke with you, just like you shouldn't be allowed to choose whether or not I listen to your shit.
As long as it can be overriden, I don't see the problem with this.
Some devices already have the maximum limit setting until you override it already. It's not really the people with headphones that bother me in public, it's the chavvy cunts that walk around with their mobile phone out blaring music, that shit should be banned.
This, I don't mind people with headphones, but the god damn retards that are too cheap to buy 1$ headphones yet they have a phone that costs around 300$ (probably stolen) and go in trains playing some horrible solja boy music.
So, basically, you think that the government should tell us everything we can and can't do in our lives? Yeah, that makes sense.
Yes, if you can't take care of yourself someone else will (like with little kids). And if you still want to damage yourself, well then too bad, you will be forbidden from doing that (because you're still part of the society and by damaging yourself you often damage others). And before you ask: No, I don't care if they take away freedom to give me safety (actually I'm all for it as long as it is within reasonable limits), and no this won't lead to fascism/communism.

ITT: 80% of posters didn't read anything but title, 10% think the EU is a "state" and the remaining 10% know how to turn a PC on.
That would be a good idea. Zapping chairs if you post without reading the OP? The dumber the post the stronger the zap.
A giant spike that gets rammed up your ass if you hit 25 bad reading ratings.

This is a good idea, they should have done it earlier.
Good idea. People don't realise that playing your music at full volume damages your hearing. Mine is never at full anyway, so it doesn't affect me anyway.
It's so annoying when somebody listens to music very loudly in trains. I thought headphones were made so that others wouldn't hear what you listened, not otherwise? During the 9th grade, those with headphones that made more noise were more "badass" than those who didn't :D Also, in case someone listened to music with his headphones and the surrouding people didn't hear it, it was interpreted that he/she listened it "too quietly" :D

You choose to damage your lungs, just like you choose to blow your ears out. I love having my MP3 on full blast.:buddy:
No it's different because smoking fucks with the people around you (especially asthmatics.) Having your music on loud only does harm to you. It's just a mild annoyance to others (incredibly mild. As in, anyone who actually complains about it is a whiny bitch). [editline]11:38PM[/editline]
First they don't let us listen to loud music, next thing you know we're living in a COMMUNIST DICTATORSHIP
When did we get to Australia?
The average working man drinks alcohol despite it being a depressant that tastes horrid and makes you feel especially terrible the next morning.
Find better tasting alcohol, don't drink into excess.
My ZEN-player already had an extra option for turning off the volume-limit when I bought it a year ago, so it's not new or anything.
Good if it's for speakers, BAD BAD BAD if it's for earphones
Good. Maybe my ears won't be raped by the kid listening to bad music so loudly you can hear it 3 rows from him in the bus/train. And I don't have to punch him in the face.
God damn now I can't annoy PLing and get punched in the face.
You also have to see the other reason: health care costs will skyrocket if suddenly millions of people need hearing aides...
Yes hearing aids cost like what, 10$ a piece? Oh boy the government is fucked up then. On the funny side, the cost of Iraq was per US taxpayer is around 5,000$, so you can get 500 hearing aids for every taxpayer. (Now they can listen to more carefully to invade "Iran" instead of "Iraq")
I hope you like your cochlea devoid of hair cells too.
It's worth it
This is a really good plan.
If people want to blast their eardurm, it's their own choice, why would the EU care about it?
Oh God, this is just like having your face gnawed off by rats! 1984 is approaching!
