I don't get it, people loved the 3GS even though it was the 3G with a new camera, more ram, and a better processor. What makes that update any different from this? I just see people whining about this left and right. Boggles my mind. Oh well, it doesn't concern me anyway. I'm not buying another Apple phone. also lol 8MP camera. How about getting actually BETTER cameras instead of bumping up the resolution everytime.
The iPhone 5 will just be the iPhone 4 with features that should have already been in the iPhone 4.
less flash, less multitasking new gui and slightly updated look and 'smoother' also less camera thats the latest and the greatest revolutionary iPhone [editline]4th October 2011[/editline] but at least they give you a free case with it for only 150$ extra dollars though there is less range too
FLAC audio files?
Last I checked, iOS doesn't support FLAC.
A better camera and better processor does not warrant a new phone.
The 4S is for people who have a 3GS or older and not for the people who already have a iPhone 4 so for them its a good upgrade.
The 4S is for people who have a 3GS or older and not for the people who already have a iPhone 4 so for them its a good upgrade.
No it isn't, they could just buy the iPhone 4 for $100 dollars less and have most of the same features, or buy an Android phone and have more features.
The prices shown are with a 2 year contract. The phones without the contract (4S) are $600 and up. Just clearing that up.
No it isn't, they could just buy the iPhone 4 for $100 dollars less and have most of the same features, or buy an Android phone and have more features.
Well for the $100 you get 8GB more space, Bluetooth 4.0, another hour of 3G talk time, the Dual-core A5 chip, an extra 3MP for camera, and 1080p for video recording. It really comes down to the person but I say that is worth the extra $100 if you want the latest/greatest (in terms of iPhones) and you have one of the older iPhones.
HD movies? FLAC audio files? Do I need to go on, or do you get it now? Somewhat related to that fact: http://androidcommunity.com/sandisk-64gb-micro-sdxc-cards-working-on-multiple-android-devices-20110927/
HD experience on a phone = No FLAC on a phone = No Point redundant.
Which can be used for what on an iPhone?
Right now not much, but down the line it could prove to be a good move by apple: http://www.bluetooth.com/Pages/Low-Energy.aspx http://www.pcworld.com/article/208778/wifi_direct_vs_bluetooth_40_a_battle_for_supremacy.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_low_energy
http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/04/iphone-4s-vs-the-smartphone-elite-galaxy-s-ii-bionic-and-tita/ I do not see what the big deal is about.
In terms of specs, I'm not entirely sure which phone to get. Sure, GSII's screen is larger, but the retina's resolution is slightly larger. I currently have the 3GS and I'm not too sure which phone is better.

Play around with both iOS and Android 2.3 and see which one you prefer. I'd wait for the Android Ice Cream Sandwich devices kicking off with the Nexus Prime though.
Can't stop laughing at the video, it's the exact same video as last, but they make it seem so groundbreaking.
Well for the $100 you get 8GB more space, Bluetooth 4.0, another hour of 3G talk time, the Dual-core A5 chip, an extra 3MP for camera, and 1080p for video recording. Plenty of other phones have 8MP cameras. The A5 isn't anything special compared to the other high end smart phones on the market, neither is the 1080p recording or the extra 3G talk time. So no, I don't think it is worth the money when you could just not buy from Apple. I admit i don't know anything about the bluetooth 4.0 thing but that is because i have never really given a shit about bluetooth.
I have to say that 1080p video recording at 30fps is pretty nice.
The notification center of the Iphone 4S is STRANGELY similar to the notification overview of the Samsung Galaxy S2. I guess it is time to COUNTER-SUE!
I have to say that 1080p video recording at 30fps is pretty nice.
It's nice but the iPhone 4S isn't the first phone to have it.
Last I checked, iOS doesn't support FLAC.
Now that's just silly.
HD experience on a phone = No FLAC on a phone = No Point redundant.
Don't know about iPhones, but many newer android phones have a HDMI output (some of them via a cheap adapter cable) So it might be redundant when talking about iProducts.
I'll be upgrading to this as soon as possible; I had faith in android, it's a great but has ultimately let me down in many regards and I'm probably going to stick to Apple from here on out. I upgraded from an iPhone 3G to a HTC Desire HD and I was impressed, the screen was great and a I didn't realise what I was missing out on with features like notifications, customisation and widgets it was much speedier as well. However over time little issues cropped up; randomly going sluggish, awful battery life, not responding, apps crashing, lots of apps look like vomit and the selection isn't as good on iOS. Android is a good OS, but it's a rough diamond, there's not much polish at all. I've rooted it now and installed a custom ROM (which took an assload of research and an entire day, I'd never expect anyone other than a very advanced user to even attempt that) and I have to admit it was really satisfying to see the result and have a fancy new interface and features; but most of those problems still persist, battery life being the worst offender which is just really bad (and believe me I've tried to fix it). Now iOS 5 comes along and it has strengths of android and other mobile OS's but polished to a shine. Because of things like iMessage and iCloud, you become more at an advantage for owning more than one iOS device and for other people having iOS devices, and let me remind you there's more iphones out there an any one android device by miles. Find my Friend is also genius which I know I'll be using, but before you cry 'it copies google latitude' here's a reminder, fucking-no-one uses google latitude and don't try to argue to get people onto it - no one adapts which is why things like whatsapp don't become very popular; I know literally one person who uses it and she has to borrow her friend's iPhone to use it. Then there's iCloud; android will never have anything so seamless and polished for a long time, sure you have dropbox but that's fidgety compared to doing fuck-all and having your photos, documents, game saves, apps, music, calendars and everything synced over to your tablets, ipods and computers automatically. The apps are so much more numerous than on android and of much higher quality, I can't see that happening anytime soon on android, the market is uncontrolled and it's a more secure market place to sell apps. Android might be 'open' but in reality that really doesn't mean much, if anything it's negative in my experience. As much as you guys love jacking off to the idea of an 'open operating system' but that just leads to fragmentation; updates take longer as carriers and manufactures 'customise' them (bloat them), apps may be unstable or not even available (mine-craft pocket edition isn't even compatible with my phone for example). The average user doesn't care if the market place is locked and regulated, the average user doesn't care about rooting or installing ROMs, the average user doesn't care or understand what it means to have an 'open' operating system; they just want something that works and works well. Then this new iPhone crops up, voice control that actually works and is useful for something, a dual core processor (yes this is in every phone now, but considering I'm upgrading from a single core I'll still see a big improvement) and an absolutely gorgeous camera. They just pushed me from leaning on the fence about my decision. I know it seems like I'm heavily biased towards apple, but that's only because I was at one point convinced android was the bee's knees and I stuck with it for a year and discovered its flaws. I'll be giving up a few features like widgets and contact linking but it's worth it in the end for me. Android doesn't 'just work'.
It's nice but the iPhone 4S isn't the first phone to have it.
Correct, the samsung galaxy S2 had it over 7 months ago.
So no, I don't think it is worth the money when you could just not buy from Apple.
If you don't buy from Apple, what do you even get? http://www.google.com/phone/ Any of these? There's fucking hundreds of them. How do I know that what I buy won't be obsoleted by something better in 1-2 months? History shows us that this is precisely what's going to happen. So, that is why I choose the iPhone, knowing that my 3GS, already 2 years old, is going to be perfectly functional for another year or two, still able to run the latest apps without issues.
I'd be willing to bet the voice recognition connects back to Apple's servers, just like it does on Android, so it'll never work properly in America because your entire RF band is absolutely full of shit and your carriers are dicks.
The notification center of the Iphone 4S is STRANGELY similar to the notification overview of the Samsung Galaxy S2. I guess it is time to COUNTER-SUE!
It's actually very similar to the 3rd Party App, LockInfo. I'm slowly leaning towards the iPhone now. iTunes has become a staple in my life and will make syncing music and videos easier. I've played around with my cousin's GSII and I just love the larger screen. The Android OS however just isn't as smooth as the iOS. The iPhone's Media playtime will be huge for me too. I'm constantly listening to music on the go. Quick question, will iPhone's Micro SIM mean I will have to change numbers?

Mary. Maaaaaaary. Send. Mary. A. Text. Mary. Text. FOR FUCK'S SAKE YOU PIECE OF SHIT I HATE YOU no wait don't send that FUCK" Also that guy explaining the aerials and camera looks like the gay cop off My Name Is Earl.
So no, I don't think it is worth the money when you could just not buy from Apple.
That was never my point. Yes I understand that you can get a cheaper and "better" android phone but for the people who have a 3GS or older and are dead set on a iPhone the 4S is worth it. [editline]4th October 2011[/editline]
Quick question, will iPhone's Micro SIM mean I will have to change numbers?
No you should be able to keep it
Got my iPhone 4 when the price finally dropped, got my iPhone 3GS when the iPhone 4 came out in the USA, will do the same for iPhone 4S, when I make the money in two years.
