Something similar happened to me on a flight from Tennessee to Florida. It was a small plane with no bathroom and the flight only took an hour. I was seated next to an older gentleman who through some small talk i found out he was a professor at the University of Tennessee. About 30 minutes into the flight he kind of raised him self off of his seat and stayed in that position for a few minutes. Immediately the cabin was filled with an awful smell. I can only assume that he proceeded to crap his pants instead of holding it till we landed . The next 30 minutes were awful. The smell didn't dissipate.

I dont know why they were surprised. The plane was just one of those little puddlejumpers for short flights. Been on them a few times, I mean do you expect them to have a full plane for some little trip between maritime provinces with like 10 people on it?
I still wish we had some option other than AirCanada around here though. They screw people over way too often, and the prices are all jacked up bs. Even of it would cost me more (it wouldnt) I would rather fly non air canada at almost any opportunity.
