I'm starting to think the only reason China supports them is the proximity of Beijing to North Korea. You know, fallout.
NK is beginning to piss me of with their wannabe take over the world and become leaders thing.
That depends on the direction of the region's prevailing winds.
Roughly over 48%-60% chance of fallout blowing into China if I'm thinking correctly here. Obviously let's just assume the entire region is fucked if NK (Or any other nation, however unlikely) detonates a nuclear weapon within North Korea's borders.
You forgot that NK has ludicrous amounts of AA that would take down anything in seconds
It's very outdated AA. Helicopters and low-flying planes would be in danger, but jets could fly high and fast enough to avoid most weapons. Only the area around Pyongyang and some sections of the DMZ have AA weapons that pose any kind of threat to modern aircraft.
Not like you have any clear information on what they(NK) have.
There are fairly accurate assessments online, such as http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?128528-Bluffer-s-guide-Fortress-North-Korea
There are people who literally make a living out of finding out the capabilities of NK. They have been doing this for the past decade or so. I don't think you quite grasp the concept of political intelligence. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/report/1997/nkor.pdf
Yeah, I know they're probably going to have shit like SA-2's (horrible). But you have to take into account the large amount of arms smuggling they do. I'm not saying they're well equipped, I'm saying we don't know for sure.
A massive air raid on those guns would end that. As far as i know, NK doesn't have shit for AA missiles, and cannons are worthless vs supersonic bombers.
There are shitloads of AA emplacements around the artillery. Hell, there's shitloads of AA emplacements all along the border
There are shitloads of AA emplacements around the artillery. Hell, there's shitloads of AA emplacements all along the border
All of which is really only as good as the RADAR systems that govern their targeting capabilities. How advanced do you think they are? They are also stationary, allowing even something as conventional as a B-52 to lob a cruise missile from beyond visual range set to strike a defined point.
The worst thing we could do is underestimate them really.
