filing chapter 11
end of the world
ok
RIP THQ. Thanks for all the good games you brought us. You did not deserve bankruptcy.
woa niqqa giving me boxes, u insensitive.
I know they'll deliver the games they are currently developing, but aknowledge that those will be the last.
No more Saints Row
No more Red Faction
No more Just Cause
The Red Faction series ended with Armageddon because it sold really badly

It was nothing like Guerrilla
That one was awesome
[editline]19th December 2012[/editline]
Just Cause has nothing to do with THQ though, at all.
My bad. I got it through a THQ Amazon sale a while back, so I thought it did.
But company of heroes 2 :(((
Whoa whoa whoa, hold the fuck up. What's gonna happen to Volition and Saints Row?
If they're sinking with the rest of the ship, i just want to see one more GOOD Saints Row before that, SR3 was just... bad.
I know Volition can do so much better, at least now they don't need to make the game completely from scratch.
But company of heroes 2 :(((
That game was just begging to do badly, what with the 60 dollar pricing.
That game was just begging to do badly, what with the 60 dollar pricing.
It must be shit because it costs $10 more than I would like to pay!!

Its Company of Heroes 2! Well worth the £40 price tag.
It must be shit because it costs $10 more than I would like to pay!!
That's not even close to what I'm saying. I never said CoH2 would be shit because of the labeled price, as I was looking forward to the game myself.
If you're going bankrupt, you should make your games cheaper, not more expensive. Less people are going to buy your game if it's 60 dollars than if it was 40 or 50. If Call of Duty released on a 40-50 price labeling, it would do extremely well. But Activision knows they don't need to do that because CoD games do well regardless of the price. THQ isn't in that kind of position.
If THQ wasn't in the process of going bankrupt than I'd be fine with the price. But to expect people to pay maximum regular price in your most desparate time just doesn't make sense to me.

To be honest nearly all big title games come out now with the 60 price tag or £40. It just seems to be the standard price these days.

Other big title games don't have to do extremely well in order for their company to survive. Even after all those indie bundle sales, even after THQ's stock went up 40%, it wasn't enough. THQ can't afford to make mistakes and take risks.
I think I've said this before, but I just don't get how this happens? Were their finances to badly managed? Did their operating costs exceed their income by so much?
THQ has developed / published some really spectacular, fun and well-sold games in the last few years. Where did all that money go? Botched / unfinished projects?
If it's just the burden of previous obligations, hopefully this will allow them to get a reboot.
Man, this just ruined my day.
Since the article mentions shedding legacy obligations, I'm guessing some past deal they made didn't pan out.
For example, maybe they got financing and spent it developing a MMO game that never saw the light of day. Now they owe that money back and have no way to pay it.
That would explain why they expect current development to continue. The current stuff has nothing to do with whatever sucked up their money.

I wasn't making fun of you, I was making fun of people who legitimately think like that
B-but company of heroes 2? What about Dawn of War 3? You can't die now THQ you just can't!
B-but company of heroes 2? What about Dawn of War 3? You can't die now THQ you just can't!
They haven't. Company of Heroes 2, along with all the other announced games (including things like Homefront 2) are still being developed and will be released.

Is Dawn of War 3 off the agenda now though?
That's a damn shame.
Is Dawn of War 3 off the agenda now though?
I think that was put on hold so Relic could focus on one thing at a time (Company of Heroes 2)
It's all my fault, I gave all of my $5 to the humble bundle team instead of to THQ. I'm sorry guys, I let you down.
Just looked at their debt filing for bankruptcy.
They only needed five more dollars, you bastard.
I think that was put on hold so Relic could focus on one thing at a time (Company of Heroes 2)
:( if they do go totally out of business I hope another publisher will be willing to give relic a new home.

I actually believe they are going down because of uDraw's failure and the whole company turned into a roller coaster
Heck, they even got sued over its design
Companies have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy before and come back, you guys need to be more optimistic instead of just saying stuff like, "RIP Relic, and 4A.".
if the obsidian south park rpg gets canned i'll kill myself and put a film of it on the internet

All of their games currently under development are safe.
SR3 was fucking shitty, make another one like SR2
I agree. SR2 had a better story, a more living world, better customization. More stuff.
SR3 was "hurr giant dildos"
Does this mean no more chance for another Red Faction game again? I like that series despite the last shitty entry that ruined it.
It's all my fault, I gave all of my $5 to the humble bundle team instead of to THQ. I'm sorry guys, I let you down.
But why would you do that?!

As if SR1 and SR2 were any more serious with flaming ATV rampages and running around in a hotdog suit killing people?
