I was a little disappointed when I saw the full title:
I don't even have a phone.
I have a smartphone but I never use it.
I don't use most of my smart phones features, but i still use it quite a lot. Hell, just last night i was trying to hook up the internet in my new dorm room and discovered that i needed internet explorer to complete the hook up and no other browser would work. I used my phone's connection to download the needed file, hooked it up to my desk top and just dragged the file over. It's a really REALLY handy flash drive.
I went without a smartphone for a week after mine broke (galaxy s). Honestly I felt uneasy not having the world at my fingertips. Some people that hate on smartphones remind me of grizzly people living in the hills that haven't had a computer with internet or something. Joking aside, eventually they're going to need to move on because smartphones are very useful tools and they aren't going away until maybe we've got the technology for special contacts or implants. Then again I'm a person that creams over technology
Not really, if you actually make use of it. I mean, I think it's a pretty small minority that feel the way you described. It's a multitool for tool-seekers, and that's what makes it so valuable to have with you. It's something for everything that comes up.
I know I'm in the minority. I'm also the kind of person who would rather carry a pocket watch than wear a wristwatch. I like things which do exactly what I want them to do, without a load of features I'll never use.
The only real "phone" I have had was a Tracfone, and I hardly ever touched it. [sp]Now that being said, the closest thing I have to a smartphone is an iPod touch, and my interaction with that is a much different story.[/sp]
as someone who has gone through two smartphones they're really overrated gaming on phones sucks for 80% of the games that exist. typing is annoying and you have to rely on autocorrect. my 3G has always been unreliable. etc etc
Speak for yourself - I've loved every part of my phone (Galaxy Nexus). I can type really well on it, the 4G always works if I'm remotely near a city (or on the ocean) and the games although I don't play too many games on it I like the ones I have. I used to be one of the people thinking they were over-rated, then I got one. EDIT: also everyone should have already figured this out but this a shit article just trying to get attention, of course we could fucking live without smart phones but that doesn't matter. We could technically live without clothes, internet, video games, etc - but why would we? They're all great inventions and if we enjoy using them, we should.
I really enjoy having a nice phone, but I can and do live without it most of the time.
Sure you can live without a smartphone, but there's no reason not to if you can afford it. It's like having a swiss army knife, there's just so many things you can do with one. I've done everything from measurement to head-tracking in video games with mine.
I'll only upgrade my ye olde smartphone when there's another great and fair priced one with full QWERTY keyboard on the market. [sp]AKA never :'([/sp]
Smartphones are less reliable and more expensive than normal pre-paid cellphones, but they're great for internet radio and browsing. I sort of miss my old samsung phone though, it was pretty durable and had really long battery life. It had bad signal all the time though.
Got my first smartphone 8 months ago. Man I can't imagine living without it.
Plug in and call. Except I never take it out of my car. [editline]24th August 2012[/editline] And I can't use it while I drive either.
My Sony Ericsson W595 has kept going for several years now and it shows no signs of ceasing operation for a several more. Dumphones 4 life
I DONT EVEN FUCKING OWN A SMARTPHONE what the hell is this world coming to
I feel like the Gawker 'journalist' ripped this off from their kid's school newspaper or something. Like, how is this news? Why am I supposed to care? Why is it so badly written?
Fuck that
I don't even own a phone. So.
Dumb phones for life! I really have absolutely no need for a smartphone.
Nokia N70

I have never had, needed, nor wanted a smartphone. I can't stand touch screens and why would I give up this baby? The thing doubles as a self defence weapon.
If it runs on Symbian it's a smartphone, soz mate.
I DONT EVEN FUCKING OWN A SMARTPHONE what the hell is this world coming to
Yeah, how dare people adapt and utilize new technology!
I don't have a phone at all, if I have to I use the landline or Google Talk.
Yeah, how dare people adapt and utilize new technology!
There's a difference between "utilizing" and "being glued to your phone".
I've never owned a smartphone. I still don't own one. I still have a pulse. How odd.
not gonna lie when fdurnk the googlemaps ios useful as fuark it saved my life this morning
For my part, I never had a smartphone or anything similar (only a Sony Ericsson T610 if that counts but I sold it after a week) and I am going just fine.
So I used to have a Rumor2, just a basic texting phone and it was good for that, but it was so fucking boring if I ever got caught in a situation with nothing to do, I couldn't play any games or anything because guitar hero on that shitty little phone got rather boring. I now have an SGS3 and I don't want to say that my life is happier, because it doesn't affect me that much, but it definitely has helped.
What a letdown.
Never liked touch screens. I prefer to actually be able to feel the buttons when I am typing. My current, dying slide phone
I don't understand why so many people become so attached to their cellphones. I had one and almost never used it, in fact I used it so little that my mom took it from me and gave it to my 10 year old sister. My 10 year old sister managed to use the phone more times than me within the span of 1 week than I did within the span of almost two years.
That's it I've had it I'm getting a Jitterbug fuck everyone forever
