According to my calcs thats 44% more monitor. Who's going to buy a graphics card powerful enough to actually drive it? The graphics card you got now giving 60+ fps on 1920x1080 isn't going to have nearly the same performance on a super high rez monitor like that. Graphics cards are going to have to catch up. Also, games aren't going to be that much better that this higher rez, since our eye can't see the difference. This will make a difference with bigger monitors though. I cannot see the pixels on my 22" 1920x1080 monitor. Seems a point of diminishing returns with average monitors.
Your eyes might not be able to see the difference, but I can quite clearly see the pixels on my 22" 1920x1080 monitor. PC monitors are hovering around 100ppi, cell phones are 300ppi+ and printers are doing 600dpi+

If I look real close I can see them, but at my viewing distance they cease to be pixels and become part of the image. This new higher res will help those mainly with large monitors I think.

The thing is however that it will probably be less performance-intensive to just apply rigorous amounts of anti-aliasing than make screens with such a resolution and pixel density that the individual pixels become invisible.
Are there any good IPS's out there for about 150 euros for gaming? (195 US dolla)
I feel so bad using a 1280x1024 monitor nowadays with phones having almost the same resolution :(
I remember when the 1600SW was hands down the best LCD panel on the market. I can't believe that was over 10 years ago.
I'm incredibly excited for this. I'd sell both of my monitors for just one of these.

Shit, just bought a 24" 1200p Dell 2412. All 27" here cost a fortune and this was the only IPS monitor at 1200p over 24" for a decent price (360$/270Euro) Maybe in 2 years Ill buy a single 27" display.

Would like a 1080p screen but my graphics card probably couldn't do it. (GTS 450) Besides I think I wouldn't go any higher than 1080p after I reach it because I like to be able to watch stuff in decent quality.
Maximum Digital Resolution 2560x1600 Maximum VGA Resolution 2048x1536
Fairly sure he is talking about game performance. I could in theory display on 3 monitors at 2560x1600. That doesn't mean I could expect anything close to reasonable performance with my current equipment.
