Eisenhower warned about the military-industrial complex. I love a huge army as much as the next guy, but if military spending makes up that much of our economy to slow it down if the government stops pumping so much money into it, then we have a problem.
This kicking the can down the road has to stop. Any recovery will hurt somewhat, but the sooner we get it over with, the sooner we can move on. Neither side has been the paragon on virtue on this issue; both are guilty of doing very stupid things. The Republicans should vote present and let the President and the Senate try their options, since they can't get it together, because it seems the nation doesn't like gridlock and all both sides do is blame one another.
Democrats are not perfect, but there is barely ever a reason to vote for a Republican over a Democrat (at least not recently since Eisenhower, Lincoln, and in some ways Roosevelt were all great).
(yes even Ron Paul, if you want to be a real Libertarian you'd vote for the likes of Gary Johnson)
Fuck off.
No sir, you fuck off.
In 1981 when Reagan took office:
Unemployment was in the double digits
Inflation was in the double digits
Interest rates were in double digits.
When Obama took office 2009:
Uemployment 7.x%
Single digit inflation
Single digit interest rates.
You mean to tell me Barack Obama had it worse? Go read some history pal.

Yeah, there's a reason to vote for a conservative. I'd rather not have everything be run by the state, ridiculous taxes and idiotic legislation like Obamacare and gun control.
Oh, and Roosevelt was a complete idiot.

but if the economy was poised to get worse under obama but poised to get better under reagan then it's still a bad comparison.
i mean obama hasn't handled the economy that well but he isn't incredibly bad or inept.

jesus christ here we go...
i mean obama hasn't handled the economy that well but he isn't incredibly bad or inept
Uh, he's handled pretty much everything he's done terribly. Cash for clunkers? Reverse Incometax? That cost taxpayers billions and caused bad inflation. All that cash for clunkers did was put free cash into the coffers of the auto industry. The reverse income tax just made the country go more into debt and cause bad inflation.
Then bailing out GM and the banks? Yeah, he's done a shit job as president. Thank god he can't be re-elected again.
Not to mention cash for clunkers had a severe negative impact on the used car market.

yeah you should too, obama is the hoover of our time. he wants to fix the economy and overall help people, so he passes shit to do said things. but they wont come into effect till way after hes out of office. hoover did walk into the depression exploding in his face and tried to fix it with his bills to make more jobs at providing infrastructure. he tried producing long term fixes that take a while to work. Republicans mostly do quick fixes that fuck us later on.

yeah lets not bail out all these MASSIVE companies and lose over a million jobs. THAT WOULD REALLY FIX THE ECONOMY.

You're an idiot. The USA is nowhere near having to big a government or high taxes by any standards other than Ron Paulian thinking, which is not a legitimate way of thinking anyway.
And Roosevelt was wrong in colonizing and massacring thousands of Filipinos for the sake of manliness, but besides that was an excellent President.

The Auto industry is vital for a rather large chunk of the US economy, as were the banks. They needed to be saved. As for your claims on inflation: inflation has barely been a problem in the last 4 years, and neither has debt.
Where have you been reading your news?
why do you have to point out that it's a gop house? it's not like dems are magically smarter
Vermin supreme is magically smarter. Dems are just using their head a bit more.
I read that vast cuts in Defense spending caused this quarter to look quite low and economic growth was still going strong.

There hasn't been a reason to vote republican for like two decades easily. No other 1st world country has a relevant party that is as conservative as the Republican Party. Obama and the Democrats would be considered mild right wing in most 1st World Countries. Center-Right. The Republicans? Far Right and some sad fringe 3rd party.
As for what are first world countries? Israel, Canada, lots of countries in Europe, Australia, and Japan.

Other than unemployment was rising at an alarming rate when Obama went into office: http://www.tradingeconomics.com/united-states/unemployment-rate
And you can't really blame a president for a lot happening in the first year of his first term.
It's not necessarily important how much water there's in the boat when you proclaim a new captain, it's whether there's a hole in the bottom or not.
