Sam Smith's Bond Theme Song 'Writing's on the Wall' Has Been Released

I like the song, the orchestra and lyrics feels James Bondish. I'm sure in time people will get used to the song like they did Skyfall.
Not bad but not great either, Casino Royale was the best Craig theme imo.

Best Bond theme. Chris Cornell was the perfect guy to sing a Bond theme.
I think when the movie comes out this will be better. Its a music video song. Just try to image James Bondy things happening while its playing. Not bad.
The song isn't that bad.
I'll need to see this playing over some Bond snippets before I can really judge.
it's okay, but not great.
Well, not every theme can be a Dr.No, Goldfinger, or Skyfall.

But none of them should be wimpy.
Not big on the theme (on its own), but in the context of the film I think it has the potential to be great.
Theres a norwegian comedian who made a james bond song parody in the early two thousands and it's fucking amazing.

This shit is perfect for a bond movie, use this instead.
I loved Casino Royale's theme and I fucking loved Quantum of Solace's theme, and Skyfall's theme was okay - but this is just garbage. The lyrics are terrible and it doesn't help that Sam Smith sounds like a 13 year old. This is the worst Bond theme in recent memory.
I don't know why but my favorites always been Quantum of Solace's.
Sam described it as a "classic Bond song" in a full interview with Grimmy
what it sounds nothing like a classic bond song it just sounds like generic soul music

I absolutely agree, this beats skyfall
It's a well made good song but like, i seriously think that we got spoiled by past songs so much. So like this is good and all but not good enough.
Out of all Craig's movies this feel the weakest. I say weakest because it's not a bad song but all his others had more punch to them. The first two movie started cool and the songs didn't slow down. In Skyfall the opening was more dark and moody but that didn't stop the song to pump you up for the movie. Here it's just seems moody without really making you excited. But we'll see what the opening atmosphere is going to be like.
I think it's hard to pick one, but Live and let die is definitely one of my favourites. I think Adele did a good job but otherwise I'm not parital to the newer ones.
What even is this song about? He's whimpering about not being able to live or beathe without someone, which would've been more appropriate for Casino Royale and On her Majesty's Secret Service. It'd been established that this film was of a Revenge flick, with Bond finding out that Spectre have been behind so much of his pain. That calls for an almost methodical song that gives way to something pumping ala "You know my name", not Sam Smith sounding like someone kicked a puppy and recorded it mewling.

Agree with you here, listening to the start of the Casino Royale theme it insantly hits you with the percussion and guitar
It's almost violent, but still 'suave' with the smooth guitar throughout
Skyfall is a lot more measured, but still forceful thanks to Adele's vocal power, and again there's a lot of percussion involved
This new theme starts off pretty well, the orchestral sound is all there, it's undoubtedly bond. It's just the piano and the vocals after that, might as well just be another one of his usual love songs. The 'build' suddenly arrives and pays off a little but then the high notes just don't seem to fit whatsoever
Bond themes are orchestral and suave, but also violent and confident, I'm not hearing the latter. Should probably wait for the full version
This should be the movie's theme song

It's not dreadful, but it doesn't feel like a Bond track to me personally.
Some of the instrumental parts made me think of Evil Genius though.
EDIT
Actually, listening to the others again, in comparison it would have really helped if it had that twangy guitar that the Bond films are known for.
What's with the skeleton? It looks so stupid, I just can't take that poster seriously.
Its bland, lacks any punch, and its probably the worst Bond theme I've ever heard
Pretty much.
And I'd say its not really Sam Smith's fault either. The guy has put out some good music, he's got great vocal range, but the instrumentation is just so dry that his voice isn't complemented as it should be.
Somebody should just call Lalo Schifrin for the instrumentals
And for the voice....
Mmmm....
That's a hard one
It sounds more like a piece for an establishing shot of an important location, not an intro song.
Its no 'you know my name'.

Casino Royale is probably the best post 60's Bond, but Goldfinger is my personal favorite.
I definitely like the older ones but Goldeneye always holds a spot in my heart

and goldeneye and an honourable mention to tomorrow never dies.
craigs movies have the worst fucking music. skyfall was passable at best but very forgettable. id rather take something akin to The Living Daylights again but i guess its not as edgy and grimdark as modern audiences want it to be
Dude... finally. The two best Bond films, and the two best Bond themes (Goldeneye is personally right there alongside them but hey for the sake of argument). So damn good!! I don't know what is missing exactly from these snore fest new Bond themes, but they're just too... modern? No, not modern. Hmm, you know what I mean surely. They lack that grandeur and drama that the old Bond themes had - all the new Bond films' themes could just be any old song on the radio. If you went and played a classic Bond film's theme on the radio everyone would stop and go "What on earth is THIS!!".
Anyway, big thumbs up to you mate, Dalton's Bond is wickedly underappreciated. I think those two films were the BEST. Sam Smith's theme is bedtime music.
*edit* Actually, Casino Royale's theme was pretty good. But Quantum of Sleepiness and Sleepfall were pretty sub par.
