Is it going to be bad if i say i want to play this but i haven't played any other Metal Gear game?
How many people are going to crucify me at this moment?
No-one cause we're not idiots. It is generally recommended tho to play the other titles first so you get more out of it. A friend of mine recently completed MGS1 and will soon start MGS2. You can play them in their release order as well: MGS 1 -> MGS 2 -> MGS 3 -> MGS 4 -> Peace Walker -> Ground Zeroes and then Phantom Pain later.
If however, you just want to play a good open world title ignore what I said and wait for Phantom Pain.

Actually i wanted to play Metal gear before, i was wondering if it was a better idea of playing the first through the recent release. I only know there is a shit ton of cutscenes.
And also the Metal Gear Rex looks epic

People exaggerate about the cutscene amount/length in MGS games. But the most egregious example is at the end of MGS4. There's literally over 70 minutes of cutscenes after the final boss fight.

I wish they made a spinoff where the game focuses on playing as metal gears. I think that would be awesome.

I always thought a spinoff where you worked for a PMC as a metal gear pilot that was kind of like armored core would of been cool but too far out there for the Metal Gear universe.
Then they made Rising

You know,
I bet, i fucking bet, that at the end of Phantom Pain, or near it, Big Boss is going to cut his ponytail off.
I'm looking to get the MGS for 3/2DS, should I?

It's definitely not the ideal platform and it's not a game that you want to just pick up and play whenever you're stuck in a line or something but if you go into it knowing that, go ahead.

it's actually the best version of Metal Gear Solid 3 because of the Peace Walker controls

Bad framerate, replaced Kerotans (they're Yoshis for no reason, fuck off Nintendo), and garbage resolution/Anti-Aliasing, and fairly broken (overpowered) Peace Walker controls.
But it makes up for it with Photo-Camo (take a pic of your dick, ultra sneaky camo)
Yeah, better to get the HD Edition version. The true definitive version so far.

Which is included in the Legacy Collection, to avoid confusion.

If you haven't get the HD Collection first. Then you can get it for 3DS, had a lot of fun replaying the game with other controls and photocamo.

If the 3DS version was ported to another platform like the Vita or the PS3/360, it'd be the best version but the hardware is so poor, whatever improvements the 3DS version has is completely negated by the platform it runs on.

yeah No
yeah a constant 15 fps is actually better for the gameplay
it actually seems to run at the same frame rate as the ps2 version

More cinematic, I hear.
Hey, don't be dissing the 3DS version of Snake Eater. It has framerate issues at certain times, yeah, but it was a tonne of fun and a pretty great port, all things considered. It was also the first time I played an MGS game, and I fell in love.

I was really doubtful of this, but low and behold-

Well I'll be. At least it seems the 3DS version is at a consistant framerate.
Don't play Portable Ops since it's not canon. One of the first lines in Peace Walker is the game telling you to forget about it
kojima himself said portable ops was canon (although may not perfectly represent the details of what happened)
