Games For Windows Live not completely going away..?

Watch as they relaunch GFWL through E3, making it more like Origin and Steam.
FUEL's been given a reprieve, yay. Its issues were many, but exploring the world was fun. It's a shame there wasn't a sequel that could design around those issues and build on the lessons learned.
Oh my God, someone else played Fuel? That game was so fun for reasons that had nothing to do with racing.

then throw whatever ash you have left after that into an active volcano
Don't forget to salt the remains before you burn them
don't want any nasty spirits coming up
How are you on Linux and Internet Explorer?

magic
they're probably talking about keeping multiplayer support for games that still rely on it
Hopefully this only means that they'll keep supporting old games that still use it, not that they're actually planning on bringing more games to the platform.
It means we'll at least still have GTA 4 online since Rockstar is seemingly never releasing V on PC
It's not like I was ever able to play it anyway. It doesn't let me connect to the online service because it claims I'm not logged in to my GFWL account (which I am), and when I try to log in from there it throws some error that apparently nobody knows how to fix.
GFWL should've never happened and I'm ashamed that there are games that actually used it.
Please, just kill the damn service. They're just beating a dead horse now.
Was is ever even officially confirmed that GFWL would shutdown? Did Microsoft release something about that?
Apart from the brief message that appeared on one of their support pages for a few hours, no.
Xbox.com's FAQ about the GFWL Marketplace shutdown explicitly says the main service will continue operating.

What exactly is going wrong? Because I had several massive issues getting it to work and I even educated the Rockstar support reps how I fixed it on my own before they even responded (not counting the first reply which was a Bad Reading paste of shit related to the 360 version).
Try creating a new silver gamertag if it doesn't like yours. I had to create a new one because my gold-sub 360 tag absolutely would not let me and a specific friend play in the same lobby; didn't matter who else was in there, if one of us was, the other would get an error 100% of the time.
If they release Halo 3 for PC and it's on GFWL I'll kill myself
