Nearly anything Obama supports, the republicans are instinctively against without any real reasons. I'm so sick and tired of party loyalty, can't these fucks ever think independently?
But they DO think independently!*
*Independently of reason.
I am also exceptionally grateful that nobody from New Mexico signed this hog-wash.
It may also cause severe civil unrest, with people interpreting it as an attempt to destroy the Republican party. Accusing 47 senators (nearly half the entire Senate, and virtually all the Republican senators) of treason is not to be taken lightly, even with something as blatant as this.
Now I'm just a foreigner, but imo, FUCK everybody who would cause civil unrest if the Logan Act gets enforced on this. This is exactly what the Logan Act is set up against, and should be used against.
This basically proves that the signatory Republicans are an entity hostile to the US government.
If it would have happened in any other country arranged like the US I'd bet my ass they'd already be getting clubbed by batons all the way to the jail.
So what's a better solution then? Do nothing? Give them a slap on the wrist and tell them don't do that again? Hope that the average Republican doesn't re-elect them?
I'm not saying they should be left off the hook, just that putting virtually the entire Republican presence in the Senate on trial for treason is going to cause a shitstorm.

And for good reason, they should absolutely not get away with this intact, and if that means saying good bye to the lot of them then so be it! As bad as our politics are over here in the UK, we don't have other parties going behind Cameron's back sabotaging peace talks, they would be sent out of office without a second thought!

Agreed. These guys need to be called to task. The disdain they're showing for the administration elected by the American people is one thing - The fact they're sabotaging international relations is another entirely. The treason charge needs to be pressed.

Obama needs to respond to this. I want to see what he does.
at this point, Obama can say drinking urine is bad for you, and the next day Fox news will be advertising a new brand of lemonade
this joke would be funnier if it werent true
People wonder why I no longer refer to myself as a Republican...
There's too many 'gamers' and not enough people willing to govern, they are all too willing to spout off talking points about their 'positions' but rarely do anything.
That's because politics is a game in which you can only meet with success if you're a slimeball by your very nature. Good intentions, foresight and benevolence get you nowhere. You've got to suck up to the right people and promise favors for the rest. This holds true whether you're Democrat or Republican, but the Republicans tend to wave their corruption around like they have a right to it.
Treason on this high a level should be punished by prison or death
What I don't get is, the Republicans control the House AND Senate. If they hate him so god-damned much, why don't they just vote to impeach him rather than commit treason?

I could have sworn they were supposed to do that by now. Literally, that's been a rumor for a while now.

Prison? Totally. Let's not get too crazy.
It sucks that Obama wants to create better relations, yet the Republican party is dragging him down. It creates a bad image for the U.S. overall.
Why is everyone so upset about this? I feel like nobody took the time to actually read the letter.
Yes, the GOP is a bunch of dicks. They pull a bunch of bullshit all the time. I dislike them as much as any rational person. In this instance, however, literally all they did is make sure Iran was informed as to how our government works. They might have done it for petty political reasons, but is it still a wrong thing?
Let's say they didn't send this letter, and Iran made an executive agreement with the Obama Administration. Everything is going good, Iran develops their nuclear power, they don't nuke anyone. 2017 comes around, the GOP gets into office, and bam they can change the agreement. If they didn't send this, a future Republican president could rescind the agreement and not lift the restrictions on the Iranian enrichment program, correct?
I was under the impression that the GOP was anti-Iran with nukes
