Then why are the calls wrong? If they can see that it's wrong, then why don't they call it right? I can't believe that these people are just wrong every week if everyone can see the correct call. I mean, I assume they get some training.
All it takes to see that these replacement refs are terrible: Learn the basics of football. Watch all the games Sunday Rage at how terrible they are. It seems like half the games have refs that have some sort of bias (which in one case they had to pull a ref off the game for showing obvious bias towards one of the teams). The calls they make are often incorrect, they have screwed up so many times so far. They don't call penalties on plays that could potentially end a players career, they are giving extra time outs, making bad calls, showing favoritism... It is all around a terrible season to watch.

Apparently it is legal from what I've heard.
Rule 8, Section 1, Article 3, Item 5 As the announcer said, this was* a simultaneous catch. As such, the correct call was made at it belongs to the offense. The rule is clear. "if a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers." The issue is not who has the best control (2 hands or 1 hand) but was it simultaneous
Accompanying photo:

Not that I'm defending them, but I still can't understand how hard it is to watch replays for the right call within the rules of the game. Example, that video in OP, the seahawks guy looked like he touched the ball first (by a centimeter), but green bay guy looks like he grabbed it. I would assume that's an interception, but maybe it's who touches the ball first? [sp]Although maybe they're this bad so the good refs get better pay.[/sp]

(This is all according to my friend, who's a huge football nerd, I only watch on occasion) Last year packers had 60 flags whole season. This year so far (week 3) they're in the 20's.

If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control. If the ball is muffed after simultaneous touching by two such players, all the players of the passing team become eligible to catch the loose ball.
Just looked up the actual rule book.
idk maybe they just suck this year. have you considered that
That's a massive discrepency for a team that barely has any new players. Have you considered that?
i used to live in seattle and planning my whole life in that city yet that was a fucking horrid call
It's nowhere close to being entertaining, fight fight argue argue review are all filled in by commercial breaks, after commercial breaks, and it sucks too because they run like 3 different commercials
hi this is a thread talking about an event in football if you don't like football then great nobody cares
Just looked up the actual rule book.
Except one could argue that Golden Tate didn't even really catch the ball in the first place. He got a hand on it, but Jennings very clearly had possession. Once they hit the ground, maybe Jennings lost control of it, but we can't really tell with the footage. I'm standing by the view that it wasn't a touchdown.
ESPN's Sports Science did a great analysis of Golden Tate TD. Unfortunately they don't post the new videos online, but they were showing it on Sports Center today.
Ah damn, I wish I could have seen that. What was their verdict?
Ah damn, I wish I could have seen that. What was their verdict?
That he got the TD by catching MD Jennings :v:
Ah, I assume you watched us crush Vandy this past weekend? Such an easy lineup this season.
Go Vols.
Go Vols.
Haha get out of here! I'll be at the game on Saturday, no way the Bulldogs are going to lose this one (secretly I am super worried).
Haha get out of here! I'll be at the game on Saturday, no way the Bulldogs are going to lose this one (secretly I am super worried).
It depends on which Tennessee team shows up to play. If it's the team that showed up for NC State and the first half of the Florida game, it should be a competitive game; otherwise, you're going to kick our asses. Defensively, we're a lot like you guys were last year (transitioning into a 3-4). If you're able to stop the run and/or pressure Bray, you'll crush us. To be fair, our running game is miles ahead of what it was last year, but it's still not much better than ass. Regardless, I'll be yelling at my TV the whole time.
I like how everyone's flipping their shit on one of the more reasonable calls in that game, simply because it happened at a clutch time and went in favor of the seahawks.
