What the hell is wrong with her? Yes. It's sad that she's this massive. No it is not the airline's fault whatsoever. Airplane seats are god damn tiny, and if you don't know that you're a closeted idiot that should come out from under whatever rock you live under. If she seriously thought she'd fit in one seat, she's too dumb to live in this world. If she knew full well she wouldn't fit in one seat and tried anyway she's a bitch. Also her comment about how the airline should have told her when she bought the ticket is hilarious. I bet anything she bought the tickets online like any other person. Last time I checked airline websites don't have an option to check called "I am a giant whale that will occupy more than one seat" or any other way of telling if you're too big for one seat. I hope a judge dismisses this. Well fuck me she sure did lose a LOT of weight. Not enough for a place seat tho.
something's weird about that news article. why didn't they use current pictures available on the website they advertised?
She laid her eggs after the first picture was taken

I didn't realise that I'm such a horrible person because I've never been on a plane.
Hahahahaha, it is sad that the airline needs to tell her that. How ridiculous. Soon while booking flights online they'll be a drop down bar so you can select your waist size. Maybe a big red stop sign will come up saying "You're not flying with us fatty!" with a link to a page where you can buy a salad.
But really, fat people on transport are disgusting. I was next to an obese woman on a peak hour train yesterday and her fat flowed into my seat. Awkwardly, my phone was vibrating in my pocket up against her. And I wasn't about to retrieve it.

Maybe in future everyone's computer chair will be a set of scales as well so problems like this can be avoided, and online advertising can be more targeted. Perhaps as your seat gets lower and lower due to increasing weight the keyboard will automatically get closer to you and wider so your fat arms can reach it more easily. To the drawing board!
How is it their fault if she is too bloated of a carcass to fit on a single seat? Maybe she should have mentioned that she is just too wide to fit on a single seat
Trouble is, maybe they don't wanna admit that they're fat? [SUB]"I'm not fat, I'm big boned"[/SUB]
Trouble is, maybe they don't wanna admit that they're fat? [SUB]"I'm not fat, I'm big boned"[/SUB]
Is that a bone made out of fat hanging from your belly?
So you want them to have a humiliating tick box on the website when ordering tickets which customers can tick if they are ‘obese’ and be forced to buy a second ticket immediately? It just seems pretty logical to me that if you were large, you’d go ahead and buy an extra ticket, not only in case of a situation arising, but also out of consideration for the person who could potentially get sat next to you and made uncomfortable. Try to tell me that guy is safely seated on the aeroplane? If he was in the window or central seat, how on earth would anyone be able to sit next to him?
So you want them to have a humiliating tick box on the website when ordering tickets which customers can tick if they are ‘obese’ and be forced to buy a second ticket immediately?
It's not humiliating, it's realistic. If you weigh nearly 400 lbs. but are still in denial that you need extra space, you're living in one distorted reality.
It's not humiliating, it's realistic. If you weigh nearly 400 lbs. but are still in denial that you need extra space, you're living in one distorted reality.
Yeah but I'm sure lots of obese people ARE in denial and would not tick the box because they assume they'll fit/ find it offensive/ bring up more idiotic bullshit to 'sue' over.
They should make a few seats on the plane for larger people or something, and have an option to buy one of those larger seats.
So, why didn't she buy 2 tickets instead of just one on the second time she flew, if she knew from the first time that she takes 2 seats?
They should make a few seats on the plane for larger people or something, and have an option to buy one of those larger seats.
And make then cost more than normal seats. Because you know, they're bigger
What I want to know is how you can make two seats accommodate someone who is that big, the belts aren't designed to stretch over two seats, so the person would pretty much not have to wear one, and thus make it unsafe for the other passengers/ for the airline to take off in case they have to stop in an emergency and suddenly everyone 10 rows in front is crushed by a ton or more of water and bone.
She has a valid point, though.
I thought she bought the tickets like at some desk or something. Had no idea she was buying the tickets online. This completely changes the situation. If you're wide and you know it, it's your fault for not admitting to it.
Trouble is, maybe they don't wanna admit that they're fat? [SUB]"I'm not fat, I'm big boned"[/SUB]
Reminds me of the comedy show from GTA 4 Fat people.. 2:46 big bones 2:57 plane seats Nail'd it.
why are people talking about ticking boxes, a decent solution would be adding a notice that if you're above X weight you need to buy two seats or be barred from flying [editline]5th May 2012[/editline] if they refuse and still buy a single seat, it's not the airline's fault is it
What? No she doesn't, the airlines have no way to know how much of a fucking land whale she is before hand do they?
Should say when she ordered the ticket that if she's to fat she'll have to pay for two seats, and thus she will win this case.
Should say when she ordered the ticket that if she's to fat she'll have to pay for two seats
No it shouldn't, she should use her brain and realize that she's so fat she needs an extra seat.
why are people talking about ticking boxes, a decent solution would be adding a notice that if you're above X weight you need to buy two seats or be barred from flying t
How the fuck would that work if you are more tall and wide? Weight is not the equivalent to the size of the body. [editline]5th May 2012[/editline]
No it shouldn't, she should use her brain and realize that she's so fat she needs an extra seat.
But judging from the (later) pictures, she isn't. How small are those seats, really? I could understand if she was as big as before, but not really from those other pictures. Maybe it's the angle, maybe it's not.
How the fuck would that work if you are more tall and wide? Weight is not the equivalent to the size of the body.
An "are you overweight" tickbox is just as descriptive
But judging from the (later) pictures, she isn't. How small are those seats, really? I could understand if she was as big as before, but not really from those other pictures. Maybe it's the angle, maybe it's not.
The seats are usually never wider than 50cm, looking at the new pictures of her, it seems obvious that she'd need to take up a significant portion of the adjacent seat.
Sensible move by the airline company. Aside from the complications that arise from trying to squeeze a two-ton beast into a single seat and keeping them from eating someone's baby, there are very strict weight thresholds for passengers/luggage that must not be exceeded. An overburdened airplane poses a serious threat to everyone on it and maybe even in the vicinity of the airfield. Not saying a single morbidly obese passenger could change THAT much, but in the commercial airliner business, you'd better not take chances.
