My 14 year old sled dog got to a point she could barely walk due to her joints. She couldn't get up on the couch or go for a walk more than a few blocks without horrible limping. I switched her off her dog food (which was Blue Buffallo Wilderness) to fresh chicken, beef livers, and organ meats. She's been on that diet for about 8 months now and has lost 20 pounds and can sprint for half a mile. She's like a new dog again. Maybe you should try a fresh based diet.
How's that even possible? You make it sound like the usual canned dog-food is bad and detrimental to your dog's health. Why even feed dogs that shit?
My dad does not like dogs or cats and I probs won't have a place I'm allowed such things for at least another 5 years what do??
Get a lizard
My fucking dog died. I had to have her put down by injection because she was suffering from diabetes and we only picked up on it very late unfortunately. She went blind in a period of 5 days, blew her kidneys in 2 weeks and so forth. We couldn't have her suffering anymore, so I took her in my arms to give her a last hug. Comforted her, since she was scared eversince she became blind so rapidly. I feel guilty as hell, for comforting her when the doctor stuck the needle in her. I feel like I betrayed her by comforting her, just before we killed her. Hurts man. Sucks hard knowing she felt this way about me... Kinda explains why she would 'know' when I was about to come home (always around 6pm) and she'd wait in front of the gate that leads to my carpark. If I was late, she'd wait as long as it took no matter if it rained or snowed and my girlfriend couldn't get her to come inside no matter what. Sweetest dog ever you were, Juultje. If I am to buy another dog again, I just hope it'll be half as amazing as you, because she'd be a damn good dog. Makes me wonder what dogs think of other dogs that live in the same house hold. About a week ago we lost one of our dogs to a fire and the family member that's taken it the hardest was my pug. He's just been acting really upset since then. A lot less active and a lot more time spent looking out the window as if he was waiting for him. I never really put too much thought into how they saw each other since they were just dogs. But my pug must've seen him as a really good friend.
How's that even possible? You make it sound like the usual canned dog-food is bad and detrimental to your dog's health. Why even feed dogs that shit?
canned food is absolute shit, but high quality dry food is fine. mix it with a bit of water, occasionally add an egg or something. if you got your dog from a breeder ask for their help, they might know good brands. BARF (I assume that's what he suggested) is fine but you need to be careful with it so your dog gets all the nutrients etc it needs. wouldn't suggest it for someone who knows nothing about it.

My Pit bull/Husky mix is such a goofball, but holy shut if he wants to go somewhere it doesn't matter how much you weigh because he is a goddamn tank and barrels through.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/loQYNAu.jpg[/t] My dog is one cheeky cunt m8
Reminds me of this...
Toy poodles! Hypoallergenic! For reals.
Or any poodles. If you're serious about wanting a dog, standard poodles have the best temperaments of the lot. Also, they don't shed, or get greasy, or stink, and they're so soft. I've got one, and she's adorable. Little bit energetic, little bit bouncy, but she's such a great dog. And I say that as someone who couldn't stand dogs until we got her. [t]http://i.imgur.com/KMKEAcq.jpg[/t] Just look at that face. Could you say no to that face?

I don't know how, I wasn't there when it happened. It was most likely natural causes, being nearly 13 or 14 years old. He wasn't the smartest dog, in fact he was quite the opposite, but he was a great friend and he cared for everyone in the house. I feel horrible for not being with him when he passed away.
If you don't have a Caucasian Shepard, you don't have a real dog:
I'm pretty sure that's a lion
I want a dog but I'm super allergic to anything with fur :(
also going to jump on the wagon and suggest a Havanese or a Bichon Frise They've got no fur (double layered coat, with a down layer and a long layer), just hair (grows to a fixed length, one layer, not as thick, no shedding), so you don't need to brush them nearly as much, nor will you need allergy medication to be around them. They're friendly and indoor-oriented and great! [t]http://i.imgur.com/biL0ODF.jpg[/t]
I can't help but go hug my dogs now.
big dogs have loads of health problems
So do small ones, check.
big dogs have loads of health problems
The belgian shepherd actually has very few health problems. From what I learned by being in the community, they usually also live really long considering they are "big dogs" I saw one at an exhibit who was 16 years old.
"Dogs are also the only non-primate animal to look people in the eyes. This is something Andics, along with other researchers, discovered about a decade ago when he studied the domestication of wolves, which he thought would share that trait. They endeavored to raise wolves like dogs. This is a unique behavior between dogs and humans — dogs seek out eye contact from people, but not their biological dog parents." Is this true? I'm pretty sure my GF's cat looks us in the eyes periodically.
We had an Australian Shepherd for 16 years. She passed away of old age about 3 years ago, but damn if she wasn't the best dog anyone could ask for. I don't have a picture right now, but she looked pretty much like this: Very majestic, fun, and energetic friend. She definitely loved us a lot. She could catch a Frisbee like nobody's business. Very loyal too.
My dog, and my mom and uncle's dog. May aunt has another five ...
One of my dogs is terrible at sleeping. He's borderline autistic but I love him.
He looks like a pancake. Can I have him?

I'm pretty sure my GF's cat looks us in the eyes periodically.
It's more of the "seeking out eye contact" bit really. Kinda like looking to see how you're doing, if they want attention (dogs are really, really good at getting your attention btw, its hard as hell to ignore a whine), if they want some of the food your eating, stuff like that. While I get that some cats can be really friendly like a dog, it's not quite as universally common in cats as it is in dogs. You're a LOT more likely to find a super friendly dog than you are a cat. Of course, the window for socializing dogs is a lot larger and longer than it is for cats.
