Perth in the top 10? That's a surprise. I guess Transperth is pretty cool though... when my bus actually comes on time.
Melbourne, fuck yeah. [editline]30th August 2011[/editline] It's not that boring, we have relatively large per capita crime rates.
Getting stabbed is too boring.

Moved here 6 months ago, and loving it. :D [editline]30th August 2011[/editline]
Australia and New Zealand are the two countries I want to visit the most.
New Zealand: Great place to holiday, shit place to live.

Weird considering 90% of australias wildlife will try and kill you.
Australia Master-Race.
Weird considering 90% of australias wildlife will try and kill you.
Yes but it's also heaven for people who do like dangerous wildlife, hot weather and colorful fish. Australians, you lucky fucking bastards.
Weird considering 90% of australias wildlife will try and kill you.
Yeah, but only pussys get bothered by that. I mean, we invented the bush doof, which could easily result in death if animals attacked, but we just go Steve Irwin on them.
I'd prefer not to live in a city, personally.
Being a resident of Metro Vanouver I'm happy about this, as it means housing prices will go down from ~two million for a one bedroom bungalow. And it will no longer cost $750/mo to rent a cubicle sized crawlspace.
What the fuck are they on about? With the house prices here I wouldn't put it top of the list. We had to move out to the edge of the city and build in a developing suburb just to be able to get a decent, affordable house. Otherwise I guess it's pretty cool. It's easy to travel to basically anywhere in the city. It's not too bad a place.
The reason the housing is so expensive is because most country's (America at least) Don't build nice places anymore. Where I live, its illegal. The only building structure that can be conceived by the tiny minds of developers and banks are suburbs, strip malls, and office parks that make up the outskirts of any city. Sorry I had to vent. It really bothers me when this sort of topic comes up, there is nothing stopping any city from becoming nice it just takes smarter development and smarter transportation methods.
How is Australia's stab capital the most livable city in Australia, let alone the world?
4 Australian cities in the top 10 as well, good effort.
THIS is the reason that I want to move to Australia.
How is Australia's stab capital the most livable city in Australia, let alone the world?
Telling from how bad-ass you would have to survive Australia's murderous wildlife alone, I'm surprised getting stabbed isn't the national past time.
Yeah, but only pussys get bothered by that. I mean, we invented the bush doof, which could easily result in death if animals attacked, but we just go Steve Irwin on them.
So you get stabbed my manta rays in the chest? ... too early?
I've looked in multiple lists and Vienna has appeared in almost every list. It usually takes 2nd or 3rd though. As a consistent winner and Austria's only city in the top 10 I give Vienna the award.
Pfft. Sydney is clearly the best.
I live in London, I've seen kids young as seven carrying a knife, and threaten people. Whilst I lived in perth, it was so peaceful. Can't wait to return. <3
Not bad for Canada. Vancouver at 3rd, Toronto at 4th and Calgary at 5th. I'd like to know what makes up that 0.2 difference though. EDIT: Found it.
According to the team that determines the list, Vancouver lost its title because of regional traffic issues following a highway closure on Vancouver Island. "When we look at the survey, we don't just look at the immediate urban environment of a city ... The closures on the highway were quite high-profile, they caused quite a lot of inconvenience to people I think, and that was one of the factors that we had fed back to us," said John Copestake of the Economist's Intelligence Unit.
Uhh, I'm pretty sure Vancouver isn't on Vancouver Island guys.
Would still rather live in Vancouver or Vienna because of Australia's shit government
:downs:
The USA's government is leaps and bounds ahead of Australia's IMO. Australia is a nanny state.
Congrats, you both have shit governments. Happy?
It's a matter of opinion. [editline]31st August 2011[/editline]
Australia is a nanny state.
Ever thought that's why four Australian cities are the most liveable in the world?
vancouver sucks we have cool alleyways
No, Vancouver has better alleys. Vancouver has more hookers and crack too [editline]30th August 2011[/editline]
The USA's government is leaps and bounds ahead of Australia's IMO.
The USA's government is leaps and bounds ahead of Australia's IMO. Australia is a nanny state.
We're filthy socialists, all of us [editline]31st August 2011[/editline] where do you get this shit? Australia's government is fine champagne compared to the goon that is your government
Ever thought that's why four Australian cities are the most liveable in the world?
Canada isn't a nanny state that repeatedly censors media and bans trivial things and yet it has multiple cities on this list as well. [editline]30th August 2011[/editline]
All of the most oppressive governments in the world help you when you're sick or umemployed you're right that's what hitler is infamous for
I wasn't criticizing welfare or health care, I was criticizing Australia's strange tendency to ban and censor trivial things in the interest of "protecting the people"
I wasn't criticizing welfare or health care, I was criticizing Australia's strange tendency to ban and censor trivial things in the interest of "protecting the people"
So Australia banning a few "trivial things" makes their government worse than the American government, which suffers from a poor health care and welfare system? What? You're kidding me here, right?
