It's fucking terrible, if I were them, that would just make me more angry and more anti government. They should just start being skinheads and fucking shit up. Fuck Indonesia. Either way though, all that hair shaving bullshit isn't gonna make them change, they are what they are on the inside regardless of what they look like.
Religion strikes at freedom again!
Ahh man, those pics make the tone of this a lot sadder. "We're balding and if we can't have hair, you can't have any either."
what the fuck where are they plugging the razors in this is madness if they brought a generator solely for this I do need to applaud their commitment
Gotta love Aceh
After something like that I'd grow ever more punk than before. And despise Q'ran of my ass even more.
This is fucking stupid
I've said it before, and, at the risk of a million boxsis, I'll say it again: Indonesia is weird. And apparently stuck thirty years back.
1981? nahhh Try getting stuck 27. [sp]1984[/sp]
1981? nahhh Try getting stuck 27. [sp]1984[/sp]
Dat symbolism
Twenty-year-old punker, Fauzan, was quoted by the Associated Press as saying, "Why? Why my hair?! We didn't hurt anyone. This is how we’ve chosen to express ourselves. Why are they treating us like criminals?"
Took the words straight out of my mouth. Disliking punkers is fine but this is crossing the line.
I'm pretty sure this breaches some basic human rights. they were expressing themselves without hurting anyone else (except in the moshpits :v:).
I'm pretty sure this breaches some basic human rights. they were expressing themselves without hurting anyone else (except in the moshpits :v:).
The police are equipped with "prayer gear." What makes you think they care about human rights? "Going out on a raid! Got my...pepper spray, zip-cuffs, pistol, and...Islamic leaflets."
and I thought the Far Eastern Islamic countries are milder than the others. :(
and I thought the Far Eastern Islamic countries are milder than the others. :(
I think Indonesia varies from region to region, some are really backwater and others are fairly progressive.
I think Indonesia varies from region to region, some are really backwater and others are fairly progressive.
Banda Aceh is pretty religious. A few of my friends are from there. As for progressive you can cite Bali. It's pretty much the number 1 place in indonesia for tourism and debauchery. [editline]16th December 2011[/editline] As far as I know Indonesian kids are mostly all like the punkers, their interests are so wildly different than their parent's that it commonly causes friction. I guess my friends are lucky to have supporting (or just uncaring in their teenagedom) parents.
excellent.
Look on the bright side! Now they can buy really really cool wigs that are even MORE punk and MORE distracting that their hair before! They can all start a punk wig business together! Fellow FP'ers, we have a mission!

Should we be just as sad if they choose to shave a wig? It's like the cloning debate, only all the clones are made from horse-tails.
And Indonesia calls itself a democracy.
Sometimes i just silently pray to myself for a revolution damn it
oh lulz, reminding police not to breach human rights, this entire thing is a breach of human rights
Something tells me their parents supported this raid. 'Oh no my kids has became rebel listening to satanic music with their devil hair styles someone stop them oh no'
they act emo - punk.
emo started from hardcore punk.
If this was in the US shit would be flying
Whatt? The? Fuck? Do they (Indonesian gov/police) hate punk simply because it expresses rebellion, and had an aggressive sound or something? That really sucks for them. They can come to America and be a punk as they want. I want them to know that.
They can come to America and be a punk as they want. I want them to know that.
yeah its easy for 18-20 year olds to move to another continent
It depends on the area. As was said before areas like this people get harassed. Other places bands like Suffocation are allowed to play.
I've said it before, and, at the risk of a million boxsis, I'll say it again: Indonesia is weird. And apparently stuck thirty years back.
Forty*

Makes me proud to have been born there
Wow this is so dumb. God damn it Indonesia, get your shit together.
