GTA5: Dan Houser would no more commit to PC than he would for Wii U
ROI is higher on consoles than it is PC, from a marketing perspective PC ROI will be lower due to things like piracy.
Piracy exists, and has existed, on all console platforms for decades. That argument is nonsense at best.
Development costs for non specific hardware and such are real concerns, albeit rather poor ones.
Max Payne actually didn't meet their expectations, even though it was amazing
As long as it made a profit it should still be good.
GTAIV was a pretty terrible port, it had all kinds of performance problems and still requires a fairly powerful rig to power through the lack of optimization. After experiencing that, I'm not too hyped up about a GTAV port.

From a marketing and investment standpoint however it works differently. Sure it is on consoles but the effect is not as apparent to investors or others. From an investment and company perspective consoles are much more stable to guarantee sales and higher return on investment much earlier than a PC version. Thus a PS3/Xbox360 would take priority over PC which will probably not generate as much or as fast.
Saints row 3 is pretty different from GTA.
And the max payne 3 port was very good from what I hear. I would be more than willing to give them a second chance, especially for GTAV...
given allot of other Rockstar PC ports (GTAIV and LA Noir) as well as them not porting RDR, and all the negative comments they've given PC gaming the past few years, it's gonna be real hard convincing Rockstar to port GTAV. And when we do get it, expect minimal resources poured into it, and performance issues and crashes.

Yeah, at this point Rockstar hates PC gamers and PC fans hate Rockstar's shitty ports. I wouldn't be surprised if they never release another PC game.
EDIT: Except Max Payne 3. That was an excellent port.

Have either of you played GTA IV or LA Noire? GTA IV had a rough launch but it works perfectly now. They're fine. Max Payne 3 was a fantastic port. One of the best I've played and I'm sure many people would agree with me. Neither of you know what you're talking about.
wow gta is literally the worst series ever now there is no hope of return rockstar
GTA IV had a rough launch but it works perfectly now.
Not for me or anyone I know personally
GTA IV had a rough launch but it works perfectly now.
Now now, I wouldn't go so far as to say that
I really do hope it will make it onto PC. Despite all the DRM crap with the rockstar club and GFWL, I was still able to play GTA4 and then extended the life of the game by modding it.
Not for me or anyone I know personally
Runs 60FPS for me on multiple variations of my computer and also on my friends' computers.

GTA IV still has terrible performance issues, it doesn't run nearly as well as it should on hardware that can max out any other game on the market. And from what I hear, L.A. Noire also had some pretty terrible optimization at release (being locked at 30 fps, terrible controls etc.). The only one I haven't heard any complaints about is Max Payne.
I only remember GTA on console. Those who are pissy about it not going to PC (immediately) need to shut up and deal with it.
Your comment might've be relevant if GTA didn't start out on PC.
I play both PC and console so I probably just don't understand the bias about one side being better than the other when I'm in it to satisfy the "lets play a game" craving.
Not everyone is a "hurr durr PC master race" kind of person, some people could just not own a console or simply find PC controls comfortable. No need to jump to conclusions like this.

If I can get it running in a playable state (20-30 fps on low) on a tablet PC with an intel HD 3000 GPU, I can't honestly say its got horrible performance issues.
That quote more insinuates he thinks PC gamers don't make much of a market.
And I think it's their goddamn own fault with their shitty DRM. Pirating is just easier than buying it, as you can just play the game when you get an illegal version, and need to fuck around with GFWL and social club for ages when you actually buy it.
Why should I legitimately buy a game, when I could just pirate it and just play it?

None of that has to deal with piracy. There are a number of 'legitimate' reasons to prefer one platform over any of the others. Piracy just isn't one of them.

LA Noire is 30 fps capped
IIRC, their last game was Max Payne 3 which, from what I heard, is an amazing port on PC. GTA IV was created for consoles, yes, but it was also a test on limits of what they designed the engine for. They've gotten used to the engine they've created, so they undoubtedly will have less of a problem porting to PC. Although, I'm not saying they will, I'm saying that if they do, it will probably be a pretty good port. At least I hope they do and it will be a good port.
LA Noire is 30 fps capped
that was because the facial animations were recorded at 30, if everything else was running at 60 itd look funny
Do we really care? We have Saints Row III, and it doesn't use GFWL (lol GTAIV). A GTAV port would probably be piss poor and break records for terrible PC ports.
saints row 3 is a piss poor port as well
Yes i'm sure there's no market whatsoever for a GTA game on the PC, that's completely reasonable, yup.
that was because the facial animations were recorded at 30, if everything else was running at 60 itd look funny
I don't see why, they could either interpolate the animation (Which is what everybody else does), or just render the facial animation at 30fps and everything else at 60fps (I'm not sure why that would "look funny", you already see things like that in games, videos play back at a slower rate, etc.)
Yes i'm sure there's no market whatsoever for a GTA game on the PC, that's completely reasonable, yup.
red dead redemption never got ported despite having a massive market, la noire got ported despite having almost no market
Don't fucking pull an RDR on me again Rockstar, I can only have my heart broken so many times.
If you're that concerned that it won't make it to PC, make your voice heard to them.
that was because the facial animations were recorded at 30, if everything else was running at 60 itd look funny
Bioshock had the physics and animations capped at 30 fps and it looked funny, but the gameplay was still good
I think he honestly believes people will buy it twice.
I bought GTA4 at least twice.
I've no idea what's making consoles have more potential selling power to them.
