GTA5: Dan Houser would no more commit to PC than he would for Wii U

I think they will undoubtedly release it on PC, but they will say they are not particularly planning to as to make people like myself buy it twice (I will probably buy it twice). PC ports are so easy that there is literally no reason not to, however they are likely waiting just so that potential PC users are forced to first purchase a console version of the game (which are much more difficult to pirate, of course).
It's just a sales tactic, IMO
red dead redemption never got ported despite having a massive market, la noire got ported despite having almost no market
It's called shit business tactics. Not exploiting a market is worse than failing to exploit a market.
LA Noire was ported quickly (imo) because it was failing in the console market and they wanted to get as much out of it as they could as quickly as they could (went from full price to being on sale for $5 in a matter of weeks).
I think he honestly believes people will buy it twice.
I bought GTA4 at least twice.
I bought it 3 times.

yeah that's because they made a shit game
as far as Red Dead is concerned, I think they just couldn't work out some aspect of it, or thought that the gameplay style wouldn't appeal to PC gamers? I don't understand it either. Perhaps it had such a lifespan with the DLC that they didn't feel the need to spend time or money on a PC port.

I think they probably didn't want to keep a multiplayer server running

I bought it thrice. Once on Xbox, then the initial pc launch, and finally a Steam pack with IV and episodes.
I'll get the ps3 version of this on my roommate's ps3, but dammit, I want a pc version!

yeah, could have something to do with XBL based online stuff or something i dunno.

RDR was a different studio. There's certainly a slimmer of hope here because it's Rockstar North. I am starting to get worried though. If this doesn't make it to pc it will be the most disappointing bit of gaming news ever.
I only remember GTA on console. Those who are pissy about it not going to PC (immediately) need to shut up and deal with it.
Yeah because I can afford buying a console just for one game. Oh wait, I can't.
I've recently sold my Xbox (got a pretty good amount of money out of it too.) and went to exclusively playing on my PC, It breaks my heart to potentially see the gaming series I've played more then any other not be playable. I remember being 10 years old when Vice City came out and spending entire Saturdays driving around and trying to coax my character into Police boats without falling into the water and dying.
Hopefully he's just in "don't say anything about the game that isn't public knowledge" mode and there's going to be a PC edition.
I play both PC and console so I probably just don't understand the bias about one side being better than the other when I'm in it to satisfy the "lets play a game" craving.
When did anyone start talking about one console being better than the other? Are you wishing up arguments from thin air?
I played 4 on the PC and ended up getting it for the Xbox just so it would run at a decent rate. Even now it barely works for me and I have to drop settings (it's the only game I've had to do that with). I'll just save myself the hassle and buy GTA5 for the xbox.
Is there no love for a PC version over at Rockstar North?
Apparently not, according to the wikipedia page, Rockstar Toronto was responsible for the PC version of GTA IV. Rockstar Vancouver was responsible for Max Payne 3 and is in process of merging with the Toronto branch.
I heard reddit was running a petition to get this on PC, because they heard that the dude would do it if there was significant market.

I've decided I'm going to get it for my 360 just so that I get better support. My computer would probably run any PC version of GTA5 fine, but I'd have to deal with their DRM and such then.
Saw in an article that the reason why RDR wasn't on PC is because they didn't think it was going to do well (I was younger when RD: Revolver came out so I don't know if sales were good). Everything turned out better than expected, but due to their funding limiting it to consoles they couldn't port it to PC.
No source, so call bullshit if you'd like.

Link please. I'd like to sign it. I'm sure others will too.

I would be pissed if it didn't go to PC at all, but not if it was later than the console versions.
Them saying its "up for consideration" makes it sound more like "We might not release it for PC" instead of "A PC version will be released later"
And that would be extremely dumb.
Looks like my PS3 will be of use after all.
Every single GTA has been on PC up to this point, don't buck the trend <3
As fun as this game sounds, I am not getting it for xbox.

I would say the same with some other game but this is Grand Theft Auto. There is a huge demand for this game, even more so on pc. Why is Rockstar not doing this?
What a shame, I've played every GTA until GTA:SA on console, but then I discovered the marvels of user made custom content, like SAMP, iCEnhancer and LCPD:FR, to name a few. That's the kind of things that extend the replayability of a game and as a consequence, it's lifespan.
Not releasing the game in PC would be a huge blow to the kind of users that find this feature appealing, not to mention those who simply can't afford a console (I fit into both categories).

EA buys Valve Corporation
Half Life 3 cancelled, Team Fortress 3 in production, will be based in modern day
Steam/Origin replaced with Storigineam, monthly fees applied
Interplay revived by cooking mama publishers, will create Descent themed cooking mama games.
Trust me guys, this game will be on PC eventually. This is exactly what happened with GTA IV. There was no mention of a PC version from the start, but it came out eventually. It was a shitty port with a lot of problems, but at least it's playable if your computer is fast enough. Just wait and see.
As long as they don't requite me to log in 2 or 3 different places in order to play my copy of the game and not even fucking store my saves in some cloud service, I can wait.
What is this? He said this like a week ago
I would be more confident in the whole 'Rockstar eventually will release on PC' statements, if I was able to play Red Dead Redemption on PC

Although this is true, the success with the Max Payne 3 port does bring me some hope
Seems strange to make comments on producing a title of this scale for hardware ending it's life cycle, then to deny embracing a platform that is forever evolving and keeping up to date.
