don't buy the console version I'm so tired of seeing FP'ers go "ugh console version delayed a month?! (ACIII), that's it I'm buying the console version" these people are what's wrong with gaming and what is making the PC get 2nd class support
I'm going to buy the console version.
I hope this isn't serious. Saints Row The Third is one of the most abysmal piece of shit games that ever surfaced this atmosphere, there is no good aspect in that shit. BTW: http://rockstarnexus.com/article/60/Grand-Theft-Auto-V-appears-in-Social-Club-files-on-PC
The game may have been ridiculous but it certainly wasn't shit
Either Microsoft is paying them shitloads to delay the PC version or they simply don't have the manpower to develop a PC port simultaniously. I mean surely you can't be so stupid that you ignore the PC market.

Anyway, that's not it. Like all GTA games, they just need some time to make the PC port and I guess releasing the console versions first is just a stupid marketing tactic so people like me will buy the game twice.
Why should Microsoft pay them to delay the PC version? If anything, they should delay the PS3 version. ...
Because Microsoft's main gaming platform is the 360, that's their idea of the future. That said, I highly doubt Microsoft is saying "Don't release for Windows", but more likely something like "Release for 360 first, then for other platforms if you want".
By turning your back on the PC market I flat out REFUSE to buy your game. That's 60 euros you won't see anytime soon Rockstar. Good Job. GTA 4 on PC has proven that it has staying power in the market, does anyone still buy gta 4 on console? No, do they still buy it on PC for new mods that come out from time to time? Yes Go fuck yourself Rockstar!
Games live longer on PC by nature, but sadly the platform isn't as profitable as consoles (for most games)
How many people use the 360 and PS3 combined for videogames? How much do devs/pubs make off of them compared to PC users? Think about that for a second.
Fair enough the market is there - but I just think it'd be more logical to make the game look as great as possible for a high-end PC, and then scale down your graphical detail for consoles, as opposed to doing it the other way and ending up with a tarnished product. I suppose Piracy might be why they do it. - If the game is released on consoles they know people will buy it. If it was released on console & PC at the same time, the likelihood of hacky releases would be higher and it'd cost more to launch on all platforms (unless they went for a Steam-only release, which they should).
Get an Xbox 260, or PS3. Stop bitching
Get an Xbox 260, or PS3. Stop bitching
thank you v much facepunch user... i'll drop that 300 dollars right now and chill the fuck out... good advice. i'm about to switch up my whole life with this drunken purchase, what a turnaround [editline]fuck[/editline] it's broken [editline]fuck[/editline] i broke it
From a marketing and investor perspective, it is seen as loss of revenue. It doesn't matter if 'you' don't see it that way, people aren't going to invest in something as much time or money where there is a large potential for loss of sales.
And again, you are bringing up piracy. It's not a valid line of reasoning because it exists on all platforms, and there is little to indicate it is notably heavier on one platform vs another. What's more, lost sales do not directly equate to piracy. GTA IV is the textbook example coincidentally enough. I, and many other people were completely and utterly unable to get legitimate versions of the game running. Without resorting to cracks, it was impossible. I personally just didn't bother. If I hadn't been gifted the game I'd have sought to return it. As it was, most of the people I knew with the game were "pirating" it, despite owning legitimate copies. In short, most stats measuring piracy are completely fucked up, and basing decisions off of them is almost universally idiotic. Dev costs distribution costs easier to support easier to push microtransactions existing online play APIs existing engines more locked down so harder to cheat (not relevant for single player games, and obviously not impossible) higher end hardware (example, shattered horizon requires dx10/11 support) modding communities All of those are reasons for preferring a platform over another. Not necessarily consoles or PCs, but any platform.
A lot of people seem to fail to understand that Xbox platform is simply the immediate choice of a market for Rockstar's video game product because it has the most consumers. On a relevant note to the above is that, a lot of the PC market, or the user base, does not even consist of video game consumers, or gamers. In other words, if PC had the most potential buyers/pre-orderers for their game, thus the biggest market, GTAV would sure as fuck be released on the PC first.
I only remember GTA on console. Those who are pissy about it not going to PC (immediately) need to shut up and deal with it.
Well good for you. But some of us aren't fifteen.
Well good for you. But some of us aren't fifteen.
I'm 19 and my first GTA game was GTA2, but come on, GTA3 was where the fun really began
I'll be happy enough getting it on Console. GTA is mainly a console thing, but i prefer a PC version of it, For the modding and video capture.
Tons of people butthurt in this thread. Some of you probably have an xbox or a ps3, so just get it on console. It's not the end of the world.
Some of us, maybe personally I don't have any consoles, so I have the right to be quite annoyed right now

HYPOTHETICALLY if I had been born say 2 years earlier and GTA5 was released simultaneously on PC and console, I would have just pirated the PC version then bought the game when it went on sale or when the time was right. If this happened today I would just buy the PC version outright, but I can see/imagine there are still a lot of people that would take advantage of the option of piracy on the PC when they might be forced to buy it on consoles otherwise, etc [editline]21st November 2012[/editline]
Get an Xbox 260, or PS3.
Uh, you're wrong. Anywho, I really hope they port it over to a PC, I can't bother to buy the game two times once again, I can't spend my money like that.
Well if it doesn't come out on the PC I simply won't buy it on any platform then. PC or bust; I don't have the time, willingness, or patience to play these games with them anymore.
fyi it will come out; it always does, stop being melodramatic
Why? This bullshit is developed on a PC, and uses methods that can be easily integrated to accommodate for PC and make loads of profit.
it isnt easy to port a game like gta5 to the pc, you stupid fuck!
it isnt easy to port a game like gta5 to the pc, you stupid fuck!
GTA 4 was a utter piece of garbage port. It is so badly optimized it's not even funny.
Is Rockstar Social Club used in any way on the console platforms? What's showing up in those files might simply be there because the file is used in general across all platforms perhaps.
GTA4 is the only game I know that I can't max out on my computer. Deus Ex HR, Hitman Absolution, Borderlands 2, Skyrim with 50 graphical enhancers, cake. Yet I can't max GTA4 and it will KICK ME FROM MULTIPLAYER GAMES for shit reasons. If there's going to be more of that in GTA5 along with a 6-12 month delay it won't be worth the $60 its bound to cost. Honestly they should have waited for next-gen instead of the old ass consoles that are out now, because I'm not buying a 360/PS3 just to have next-gen come out soon after.
Is Rockstar Social Club used in any way on the console platforms? It's like Waypoint with Halo.
does gta iv still require windows live to save games and rockstar social club to play?
GTA 4 was a utter piece of garbage port. It is so badly optimized it's not even funny.
Episodes from liberty city redeemed it. It optimized the fuck out of the damn game. The base game runs great now too.
Yeah Delta616 it's definitely better than it was but for some reason night shadows setting still causes major stutter for me with a GTX560, i7 920 4.2GHz and 6GB DDR3 Weirdly I could whack the night shadows right up on my previous card, a Radeon 4870
