22:31 It has been reported that 'an emergency situation' has now been declared at Fukushima No 2 plant - in addition to the ongoing cooling problems at Fukushima No 1 plant. NHK says that in both cases small amounts of radioactive material may be vented into the air to ease the pressure - 'it is hoped that this will not affect human beings in a serious manner,' says the Japanese Nuclear Safety agency.
I don't like this :ohdear:
They've evacuated 51,007 people from the Fukushima area
Fuck. I don't like this :ohdear:
It shouldn't be bad as Chernobyl, since it was creating radioactive smoke after the roof fell apart and the core melted, right? This could only be bad if it will go on for a long time period.
Ugh, I wish Sky News would give better citations, they just said on tv channel, that "A Second PLANT, may be affected" I hope to god they just meant the second reactor, and not plant...
UPDATE : Full control of the reactor was lost. They cant control the pressure. Poor Japan.
You'd think submerging a nuclear reactor in a tsunami would cool it well enough
UPDATE : Full control of the reactor was lost. They cant control the pressure. Poor Japan.
Source?
You'd think submerging a nuclear reactor in a tsunami would cool it well enough
Imagine pouring boiling hot water on a bomb that goes off on heat Yeah, that
Source?
Yeah, im not putting my sights on this unless you have a article or video to back it up...
Oh
UPDATE : Full control of the reactor was lost. They cant control the pressure. Poor Japan.
If this is true, Fuck. There isn't really much else to say.
Depends how deep down the rabbit hole you go. Chemistry and Physics become closer the further along the line you go.
no the deeper you go the further apart they get
If this is true, Fuck. There isn't really much else to say.
What's the source on this?
so much shit happening in the world at the moment [editline]11th March 2011[/editline]
What's the source on this?
read reuters
Power company TEPCO says it has lost the ability to control reactor pressure at Fukushima No. 1 and No.2 reactors. A spokesman said pressure is stable inside the reactors but is rising in the containment vessels. He said it is not known if there will be a need to release pressure at the plant at this point. That would involve a release of radiation. by Reuters_Helen Cook at 11:04 PM
Okay guys, This one just popped up on Reuters. Power company TEPCO says it has lost the ability to control reactor pressure at Fukushima No. 1 and No.2 reactors.
no the deeper you go the further apart they get
My chemistry course has a shittonne of stuff I did in physics last year - properties of light, nuclear reactions and properties, so on so forth. By university level they might start separating out again - I wouldn't know.
UPDATE : Full control of the reactor was lost. They cant control the pressure. Poor Japan.
they could handle a bomb they'll do fine here [editline]11th March 2011[/editline]
My chemistry course has a shittonne of stuff I did in physics last year - properties of light, nuclear reactions and properties, so on so forth.
so you did highschool physics before chemistry? Chemistry was a prerequisite to physics in my school.
Two different levels. I did Higher Physics and Chemistry in the same year, then did Advanced Higher Chemistry the year after. Advanced chemistry contains a lot from Higher Physics.
if japan turns into nuclear wasteland where will we get our anime and weird fucked up t.v shows, toys, and technology???? in seriousness, I hope they fix this shit and aren't any serious repercussions from it.
Why does the reactor continue to heat up even after it is off?
You can't just hit a button and it instantly cools down. That's why the water in the reactor is hot years after it's not being used anymore. They have to contain it in a building.
Okay guys, This one just popped up on Reuters. Power company TEPCO says it has lost the ability to control reactor pressure at Fukushima No. 1 and No.2 reactors.
Oh god. :(
where are the Fukushima No. 1 and No.2 reactors? exactly? send google maps maybe, idk.
You can't just hit a button and it instantly cools down. That's why the water in the reactor is hot years after it's not being used anymore. They have to contain it in a building.
They contain it because the water becomes radioactive waste after it's used as a heat conductor and coolant. It's not hot for years afterwards, but they can't simply pump it out to sea.
they could handle a bomb they'll do fine here
Despite it being a nuclear bomb, it didn't leave that much radioactive debris in comparison to the amount that would be deposited by a reactor.
Two different levels. I did Higher Physics and Chemistry in the same year, then did Advanced Higher Chemistry the year after. Advanced chemistry contains a lot from Higher Physics.
we had chemistry, physics, and AP physics and you had no reason to take both physics and AP physics because they were the same to anyone who didn't need an AP credit
They contain it because the water becomes radioactive waste after it's used as a heat conductor and coolant. It's not hot for years afterwards, but they can't simply pump it out to sea.
It's still hot, bro. They cool it down inside the containment buildings.
