Jim Inhofe Brings A Snowball To The Senate Floor To Prove Climate Change Is A 'Hoax'
No, instead you get mongs strolling in going 'Let's defund the NHS!'.
You shouldn't sneer down your nose across the pond. Your politicians aren't any smarter than ours. A different flavor of bullshit is, in the end, still bullshit.
There's a world of difference between saying "Let's reduce NHS funding" and a politician bringing in a snowball to say "this widely accepted scientific theory is shit".

A politician does something dumb. Amazing.
How about how parliament is a joke because all it seems they can do half the time is scream at each other?

That's what makes it the best. They can insult each other if they're clever about it and act like fucking idiots, much more interesting to watch than fillibuster after fillibuster.
I wonder what bonus amount he got from the big corps to do this.
This isn't some corporate conspiracy. This is a commonly held belief by people.

Oh my god there's tons of these videos on youtube. What the fuck is wrong with people.

Yet our country doesn't come to a grinding halt every second week because the opposition felt the need to block a law for no reason, our politicians actually work together to get shit done.
If and when shit finally hits the fan and the planet gets fucked over, at least we know who to go after.
We'll all be long dead before the real effects set in, that's part of the reason people are so apathetic about it.
Here has been very warm winters for a while now. I remember when i was a kid here was -20c in february. Most of the time it was +2 here or more this time, same thing last year. While polar vortex is pulling artic air to midwest usa, it is also pulling warm air into arctic. Stop stealing our winters!

I really wish people would stop saying that shit man, you're probably gonna witness major crop failures in your life time, we're gonna start seeing some pretty heavy effects in 20-30 years if things carry on the way they have been.

Except ours isn't at a grinding halt? I hardly approve of our government but you're greatly overstating how bad it is.
Global Warming existing is pretty well established, but what percentage is human caused is the question.
You can answer your own questions with some Googling. Look up "co2 emissions over time" instead of just sitting there letting it become this abstract, unfathomable question.
That reminds me of this amazing quote from last year's House hearing concerning Obama's Climate Action Plan.
Larry Bucshon: Is it true that this rule has no effect on the global temperature change?
Holdren: Can I take that? I'd like to respond to that.
Larry Bucshon: There's public comment out there that that question has been asked and answered saying no.
Holdren: You should look at the scientific literature rather than the public comments.
Larry Bucshon: Of all the climatologists whose careers depends on the climate changing to keep themselves publishing articles? Yes, I could read that, but I don't believe it.
Keep in mind that this is the House's Science, Space, and Technology committee.

You guys just recently passed a law saying "Okay maybe climate change is actually real," which the rest of the civilised world sorta agreed on like 20 years ago. You guys have a genuine two party system that just goes back and forth like a yoyo while you all decide as a nation whether you'd like the raspberry flavoured retards or the blueberry flavoured ones.
I'm not trying to say that the UK is a pristine and perfect political utopia, it's just as trash at times but at least we don't have ass clowns like this guy, I mean seriously what the fuck, you guys elected this guy.

I mean come the fuck on man, you say your governments not that bad when you let people with the intelligence of a 4 year old/average conspiracy theorist into power.
Expected a Republican when I read the thread title, got a Republican
No surprises here
I'm so glad this shit doesn't happen here in the UK. Like I actually can't imagine someone that dumb in power.
Have you even looked at parliament?
xkcd, relevant as always:

Good thing its called Climate Change instead of Global Warming. Our friend here has proved nothing.
He may have screwed his chances for re-election though. :v:

Nah lots of people like my retard parents follow this exact line of thinking all over the place, because it's easier to pick up a snowball than it is to pick up a scientific journal.

So I think this is whats going on here: Solid ice is solid. Snow is not. Snow happens to be a great insulator. If you're stranded in the Arctic, you can cover yourself in snow and keep warm if you got some winter clothing between you and the snow. Same reason igloos are warm inside too, etc. The snowball has a lot more of a capacity to absorb heat than the ice does, so it takes longer to melt.
What they should've done is put the snowball in a pot on the stove. Do the same with some shaved ice from the fridge compacted into a ball, and see what happens.

I might be wrong though.
I remember I made a joke like this in a news thread a while back and now I feel really bad
Climate change a hoax? Excuse me, but some decades ago the average winter around here was knee-deep snow and the summer temps never went above 35C. And now the winter is all wet and gross and the wind makes it really cold and no snow makes it also cold and when it is snow the traffic goes shit and everyone shits themselves, and in the summer the temps go above 40, and you be telling me "climate change is a hoax". It happened before, it is going down now and it's going much much faster due to people being dumb not realising that a good environment is more profitable in the long run
Proof that global warming is real? I remember trick-or-treating with 2-3 feet of snow. On Halloween! And we thought it was normal!
That was Southern Ontario.
Now, we didn't get any snow until the 1st of January. Sure it's cold out. But winter was cut in half.

John Holdren is a fucking soldier. He faces absolute retards in the Senate and the House of Representatives on a regular basis and still finds the heart to keep fighting the idiocy.

It's funny because this is just normal snow behavior. (obviously)
It's always snow during new years eve where I live, and fireworks have always left the same kind of burn marks in snow. Nobody questions it; that's just how snow works.
And we don't even have plane traffic, so whatever his theory is I don't think it applies here v:v:v
[editline]28th February 2015[/editline]
Why do they not just do the sensible thing of melting it to water slowly and then testing the water for chemicals?
Why dismiss it with something as simple as that?
Who said that snow can't get burn marks? :v:
It isn't the snow that's getting burn marks on it, the fireworks are just depositing burnt crap on top of the snow.
