How do you believe someone is eighteen when they are twelve?
There are girls who develop very early and maintain their looks till pro-teens. I doubt however this was the case.
Is this the thread where we blame twelve year old girls for being victims?
I'm amazed at how many assumptions you can make, and how many words you can put in people's mouths, in so few words. You deserve an award for this.
Well then the message here is when in doubt, don't fuck around without confirmation.
what does "confirmation" entail exactly? [editline]29th July 2015[/editline] for the record these dudes are huge fucking creepers (people in their mid twenties trolling for "18 year olds", surrreeee) and I find it pretty hard to believe that they legitimately believed that she was 18, but I'm curious as to what your solution would be here if she lied about her age multiple times and then consented to whatever
I have a question. So, this girl was sexually abused after using this site that's designed for adults to organize one night stands. Alright, people lie about their age all the time. But... she's still using it? Shouldn't OKCupid have a responsibility to terminate her account? They know that she's underaged, they know that she got sexually abused... but they're still letting her use this service that exists to hook up one night stands?
what does "confirmation" entail exactly?
See some kind of ID, I would assume. Statutory rape is a big enough deal that asking to see some kind of proof rather than going by 'oh she said she's eighteen' doesn't seem excessive to me, even if it is rather awkward. If you're trying to hook up with someone who claims to be just barely legal and they adamantly refuse to give any kind of proof that they're of age, then the alarm bells should be ringing.
if you went through the effort to ask for some proof of age and they give you a fake, I'd imagine that you'd get a bit of leniency in court, no?
Pretty sure if you're ever caught fucking a minor you're going to jail, and being put on a list no matter the circumstance.
How would you prove that? "I asked her for her ID, jury, honest! She just tricked me!"
I wouldn't be surprised at all if the law in many places don't even recognise a person taking reasonable steps to confirm that their partner is over 18. It's like how in many places a minor can be charged with manufacturing child porn for taking a nude photo of themselves.
i don't know much about the people involved in this, but i can see why she'd continue to use OKC. statistically speaking, she probably got all the rape that OKC is gonna get her, so the coast should be clear now.
