How does our government continue to function with these idiots in charge?
You call this functioning?
You call this functioning?
Well we aren't in total fucking anarchy yet, so a little bit yeah.
I honestly only give it 5-10 years before something happens here.
I can't wait for the day when ordinary citizens begin storming government buildings.
Vote Ron Paul, Newt, or John Huntsman, end the Fed.
Or Obama who was... very lackadaisical in managing the fed. (see Ben Bernanke, 2nd term)
No to any of those.
I wish everyone in the US realized that Democrats and Republicans suck and vote in an independent party/third party.

Wait? I bet the good armed half of the United States has plans for when shit hits the fan, that's why I don't worry that much about if the US government goes bad.
I can't wait for the day when ordinary citizens begin storming government buildings.
Yep, I can't wait for the day when peaceful protest and rational debate is overcome by violence and destruction.
CAN'T WAIT

I'd love to see this whole situation ironed out peacefully, if it can that is.
With that money you can give $1,000 to each person on Earth.
I'd love to see this whole situation ironed out peacefully, if it can that is.
Violence is usually a last resort. Even with the American revolution, we tried to peacefully leave Great Britain, but their abuses of their power lead us to throw them off. History likes to repeat itself from time to time.
we're so fucked
How does our government continue to function with these idiots in charge?
Probably because these "idiots" know more about economics than you do.
Amazes me how people could even be that greedy, how could you even realistically spend a FRACTION of what these bankers got in exchange for fucking our country?
Funny how pieces of paper control the world, and how much it screws most people over.
Yep it's also funny how the majority of the world economy is completely virtual and currency represents nothing of physical value. It's almost like a belief system of some kind that we all allow ourselves to get fucked in the ass by.
b-but the fed is good rite
someone gotta print da money rite guys
Probably because these "idiots" know more about economics than you do.
riiiight
all those economists in congress, forgot about them
the same economists who believe in a little red guy underground with a pitchfork, who think gay people are sinners who wont get to play a harp in heaven for eternity
forgot about all those great economists, the ones that let a private bank unconstitutionally control the printing of money
yep, all those economists.
They gave it all to OWS protestors.
Keeps the world spinning and shit.
They're actually doing a different protest now. It's about a huge bounced check.
haha its funny because the occupy protests are all hippies that want free money!!!!!!!
By March of 2009, the Fed had already dished out $7.77 trillion to save the US financial system,
And the Republicans were angry about Obama wanting to spend $700 billion yet $7.77 trillion was spent obviously before Obama even had three months in office, hmmm....I wonder who spent that money...
Fuck everything about the American political system. It's toxic and is the reason America is fucked so bad.
Probably because these "idiots" know more about economics than you do.
That's the problem.
They know how to abuse it to their advantage.
At minimum there should be FULL TRANSPARENCY on what they're doing, so they can't do any funny business like they currently do.
i bet a fair amount of that 'bailout' money went straight into the pockets of the bankers so they could buy another holiday home because their spanish villas and Hawaii holiday homes aren't satisfying their greed enough
No to any of those.

I know there are red necks that are all about being prepared for when shit hits the fan, while they seem paranoid and a little off their rails, I actually can't.
Well, that seems a bit like paying credit card bills with another credit card.
If you were going to pour a huge amount of money into the economy, wouldn't addressing the root causes of poverty, in order to inspire greater economic growth, be a much better use of funds? Every school in the country could be completely retrofitted with contemporary educational technology, with enough left over to completely overhaul the infrastructure of dozens of cities and towns.
It seems like that would have much more beneficial long-term effects than simply keeping several major banks afloat.
Especially considering the banks were the ones who started sinking their own ships to begin with.
Especially considering the banks were the ones who started sinking their own ships to begin with.
Somehow I got a mental image of filthy rich old men playing Battleships.
Which probably could be a good concept for a political cartoon regarding this situation..
Soooo.... are we going to start regulating capitalism a little bit more now, or what?
We're not really capitalist anymore. In a capitalist economy, the government wouldn't bail out failing businesses, and they'd let the market act on its own.

Playing Battleship with actual ships, no less.
"D'oh, you sunk my battleship! Edward, my good butler, here's a blank check, go fetch me another, will you? I must prepare for the second round!"

That's why I can't stand the people who are all "Oh those Occupy protestors just want a hand-out!" when it was the banks were the ones who seemed awfully eager to get all that money when shit went south.
Gotta love America.
Gotta love America.
Hey, at least we can do something to fix it.
Socialism 1
Capitalism 0
Probably because these "idiots" know more about economics than you do.
You deserve those boxes, and guessing from your intelligence on economics, boxes are what you'll eventually live in.
You don't fix problems like what the US had by giving over tax payer money to big businesses that were on the verge of collapse due to the fact that they were lead horribly. And then look what happened anyway, quite a few of those businesses went BANKRUPT.
Hey, at least we can do something to fix it.
We can, but no one wants to get up to actually do it.
Socialism 1
Capitalism 0
yeah man capitalizm got pWND!!!!
are you really so thick that you think a private bank that was illegally given the power to control an entire nations monetary supply and currency destroying the country equals "capitlism sucx!!!"
seriously what kind of convoluted fucking logic is this, it has nothing to do with capitalism
"haha take that oxygen breathers, ur money is on fire, maybe if u inhaled helium your country would be bettere!!!!"
You cannot defend the actions of men in power. Power corrupts, it's a fact, and "office"(the psychologoy of office behavior, and corporate behavior) psychology has shown in a lot of cases that the people with the power and the money don't feel accountable for their actions.
All cash should be in a physical form, atleast someone would see huge towers of money go missing and say something
i bet a fair amount of that 'bailout' money went straight into the pockets of the bankers so they could buy another holiday home because their spanish villas and Hawaii holiday homes aren't satisfying their greed enough
Why wouldn't it? People want to defend these CEO's like they've earned this, but they haven't, even if they did, that's horseshit.
The CEO of Lehman brothers made 415 million dollars during the bankrupting of his bank. He's not a minority case of what these people are making and doing. They're profiting from the failures of other things and of us because these people are unaccountable and will forever be that way. They have power, power takes away the realization you have to be accountable, this is backed up even when people are given just a bit of power, I don't have to imagine what happens when you give people nearly all of the power.
