Microsoft pulls option for offline Xbone update(Day 1 patch)
What is the point then? I understand that not everyone has access to internet, but according to the source this doesn't remove the option to install it through USB. It only removed the instructions so people would call tech support instead (which is stupid, but you can still google for instructions from another site so it doesn't really matter). If someone can afford an Xbox or PS4 and an HDTV (neither support SD without an adapter) what are the chances of them not being able to access internet at all? Of course, not having a day one update at all would be much better, but this is just an inconvenience, it's not a huge problem
Soldiers, people on vacation, rural gamers with dodgy internet connections, people with weird house setups, etc.
I'm apparently not following the situation properly, so I'm not judging Microsoft as I don't plan on buying an Xbone anyway, but the logic behind supporting such a system should at least be proper.

This is just a one-time update, it doesn't need internet connection after that.

Aight this is what I didn't understand.
My above post is the whole idea though.

not everyone has an internet connection
well i guess it doesn't matter because the xbone's only launching in 13 fuckin' countries anyway lmao so most countries that don't have a stable internet connection for most of its populace can't even fucking buy the console anyway without importing it
and if you don't have an internet connection you don't know that you need the day one update so you don't know you just wasted 500 us dollars on a fancy brick
you could actually play your games and watch movies without the update though lol
[editline]21st November 2013[/editline]
oh yeah i forgot the xbone is only launching in 13 countries, only 8 or so with full features within the first few weeks out of over 200
ps4 had 32, you realize that, right?
it's disgraceful to only launch a console in a handful of countries
tbh i'm disappointed with the launch countries of both the ps4 and the one but it's so fucking funny how few countries the one's launching in
EDIT: lol what can you even disagree with about this Zach
They could have launched it in more countries, but the kinect voice features wouldn't have been ready.

Wait is this actually why?
Wait is this actually why?
I'm pretty sure that is the reason yeah or at least partially the reason.
They could have launched it in more countries, but the kinect voice features wouldn't have been ready.
Okay? Pull out the Kinect and make the console a hundred bucks cheaper so noone has to waste money on it
just sell it as an add-on like sony's doing with their weird kinect clone that we've heard little about
then it'll probably be a way closer competitor to the ps4

But Kinects voice features aren't even ready in the countries its launching in. Watching the Polygon stream made it look just as shitty and unreliable as the 360s Kinect.

False. When I used the Kinect the voice commands worked almost flawlessly.
Sure, you have to be articlulate with your words and say the correct voice command, but it's certainly an amazing feature.
also, reading the OP, who gives an honest fuck? You guys are finding every little niggle to shit down Xbox Ones neck when there isn't any.
I seriously hope Xbox One crushes the PS4 just to rub it in your guy's faces.

False? I own a fucking Kinect it always never hears the first second of what I'm saying. I literally have to use a filler word just so it can hear me. That or its too busy listening to the TV show I'm watching instead of my voice.

Using anecdotal evidence against anecdotal evidence isn't a good argument tbh
I've seen a bunch of reviewers mad about kinect's voice recognition and I've heard no one say that it's great but that's also anecdotal so
I'm actually just so fucking baffled at the fact that you can't even fucking play games on the console without the update and there's literally no way of doing the update without connecting it to the Internet
It's totally surreal that a console won't work when you buy it
Even though the ps4 has a day one update you can install it from a USB and you can play games and watch movies without ever connecting your ps4 to the Internet or installing anything
ZachPL here: Remember kids, stating facts is dumb!
Tbh I'm just really disappointed with the way Microsoft's handling the one because they've got some legitimately great games coming out and the unified UI system for most of their games is sexy as fuck
It's just that adding weird microtransactions to them and restricting them to a really badly handled console is going to stifle people enjoying them
