Funnily enough, right after the German capitulation in World War II, he wanted to rearm what was left of the German military (several hundred thousand troops and lots of equipment) and attack the Soviet Union with them and the help of the United States in what was dubbed "Operation Unthinkable".

Britain paradoxically had a lot of industry left that stagnated, whilst Germany started from scratch and rebuilt very quickly whilst the British kinda fucked themselves over.
