Jesus Christ, that girl needs help.
No, she just needs a Microsoft Surface Pro 3
It's a 12 year old kid, kids haven't quite fully developed a concept of risk and causality fully by that point. It's very unlikely the kid did this knowing full well that if it worked, that'd be the end of their mother and just cause more problems than it could ever solve.
You can't be serious... The little shit knew that bleach was bad, you can't tell me that she hadn't developed "the concept of risk and causality"

Uh dude 12 years old you are far past the point of knowing that trying to kill your parents over extremely petty shit like taking something away they pay for is completely fucked up and wrong.
Do you forget being a kid? Were you that stupid and insane at age 12 or no? Im gonna go with no.
You know, news like this will just become common in our era, because kids in the west simply get everything they want and turn extremely spoiled. Generations like this turn so self-centered and narcissistic because of that,
they start thinking in the way of "YOU TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME? HOW DARE YOU?!". Without openly saying it they believe they are the center of the world and their feelings are the most important.
I blame parenting really. If you raise kid insane enough to kill someone for a phone you done fucked up
It's the rare cases where kids/people just *snap* that kinda scares me. It's like something from a slasher film.

It's nice to know you were completely retarded at age 12, but for the rest of us I think we were all pretty aware that if something is dead we'll never interact with it again.

So you basically just described most child. It isn't a era thing, there has always been self centered people and there will continue to be self centered people.
I highly doubt kids attempting murder will become regular thing, people are being too dramatic.

TIL there was no such thing as spoiled children before now.
Why are people so obsessed with their fucking phones
Most anything can develop into addiction if you don't set limits for yourself. "Too much of a good thing" becomes the case when it cripples other aspects of one's self.
I think it's depending on if she got the phone from her parents, or has been saving money in the past six years because an iPhone is so fucking expensive. If she'd get pissed off because she saved money and bought it by herself it is slightly understandable.
Thing is, when you buy stuff yourself, you will feel more responsible about it. Although that won't count for me because I am posting this from a filled bathtub.
Is it possible to ban a user from only a specific part of the forum? Like Sensationalist Headlines for example? I came in here thinking there was some new interesting shit and saw the title of this thread. I went "Oh fuck. Already saw the title. Might as well click it anyway." which did not make me feel better. I remember back in 2010 when some shit like this happened and everyone would be making death puns.
That being said, either the kid needs psychiatric help or there's more to the story about the how the parent has been treating their kid. That website doesn't tell me anything. There's never any context (but this story is only a day old so it could be too soon I guess).
I want to believe that this was a "last straw" sort of thing and not an instant jump to murder from a stolen iPhone. This totally doesn't justify the bleach, though.
Am i the only one who finds that ironic since you posted that from your phone? I must be the only one who doesn't own a smartphone only an old ipod that i sometimes use to browse the net, even then i almost never post with it.
Yeah, you probably are. Just because I posted that using my phone doesn't mean I'm addicted to it.
an apple a day keeps the psychiatric doctor away

Heh, apple; I see what you did there. :P

Actually, news like this pop up every now and then in this section.
I'm saying that if you are given everything you want without working for it as a child, you are TURNED narcissistic. It's not a disorder that you are born with.
It won't be an epidemic, but I doubt children* in the past killed their parents over toys as often as today.
I think everyone has missed the point that a 12 year old has a phone. What kind of parent gives a young child a device like that at such a young age, she's 12. Not 15.

I got my first cell phone when I was 10. It happens a lot more than you think.

I had a phone at 9. Most people at my school had one as well. Although I rarely used it: it was meant for me to call my mom to say if I was staying after school or going to a friend's house

How do you know that it makes someone that way? You don't.
I also don't see your point, how does a child work for their stuff? They can't. I highly doubt this child attempted murder over one incident. There are very deep rooted issues.
Correlation does not imply causation, I know your trying to go with the whole this generation is spoiled argument and the whole age elitism thing. Honesty a poor argument.
Also thanks for being a lad and correcting my spelling error, it can be a bit hard to type on my phone.

Yeah no that's bullshit. It's only been 5 years since I was this dipshit's age and back then I at least had a concept of right or wrong when it comes to fucking poisoning someone with bleach.

It's easy for me to skip over that when I got my first iPhone at like age 11.
I had my first phone when I was 7, it was this one. Never used it to talk though.
kids are fucking spoiled. i didn't have a phone when i was a kid. i didn't have a bike. i had to walk uphill both ways to school and these little spoiled kids cry when their phone gets taken away, usually after they do something like buy a shitload of games or apps with their parents credit cards.
Yeah, but, here's the thing. How many times does this happen a year, tops? I would be surprised if world wide the number was even over 50 a year. I think this is far more a case of some children being mentally ill or having psychological problems, not because THESE DARN KIDS THESE DAYS WITH THEIR FANCY SCHMANCY TECHNOLOGY BLBRLBLRBL
Every generation complains about the conveniences of the youth and how the youth these days are terrible, dumber, and spoiled. You didn't have a fancy smart phone when you were a kid, your parents didn't have fancy video games and ipods and computers as a kid, your grandparents didn't have such and such so on and so on. TV, games, movies, phones, THAT DEVIL MUSIC, fucking radio, and in hindsight, nothing has ever ~ruined youth~ in any generation previous, but these kinds of complaints have been on fucking repeat for centuries. We've been on a steady positive increase in society for millennia. Yeah, you didn't have a phone, but you also didn't have to worry about fucking polio as a kid did you? Or the Civil War showing up at your doorstep? Or freezing to death in the winter? Or the fucking black death, or so on. And yet you're not cussing the conveniences of your childhood and probably think you're just fine and functioning.
Kids are not being ruined because their lives were less shitty than yours might have been. There's no miserableness quota they're failing to meet here.
Again, this is something I bring up a lot, but, in the modern age, with news readily available at a more insane pace and quantity than literally ever before, of course things are going to be blown out of proportion all the time, because that is interesting and gets people to read the news. It's a very simple concept. As much as you might think X is getting worse and worse because you hear about it all the time in the news, the truth is that things like this are getting better across the board, for the most part. As for the kid stuff?
I think this is the product of mentally dysfunctional children. I don't think this is the product of having phones or whatever else you want to be a bitter old person about.
I had a shitty Sony Ericsson when I was 10, mainly for calling my parents, then when I was 12 got a massive LG phone on symbian with a slide out keyboard. They were both shit and cheap so if I lost it or anything happened there wasn't any loss. My parents brought me up to actually respect them, unlike many parents now, so when they asked me to turn off my PS2 I would, and I wouldn't complain.
Seriously. We've arrived to point where sons/daughters will try to kill their parents only for a motherfucking phone.
I find it surprising and not surprising at the same time.
These kids that do things like this are psychopaths. Psychopaths have very little or no self control at all. Stupid things like this will trigger their desires, you're acting like this is some common thing.
This is the same reaction you would get if you were to take away an addict's beer or cigarettes away. Such a reaction shows an addiction.
As for what phones I had as a kid? They were made out of two tin cans and a string in between.
You guys are acting like this is a "darn kids these days" scenario haha, she tried to MURDER her mother, this child is mentally disturbed
You guys are acting like this is a "darn kids these days" scenario haha, she tried to MURDER her mother, this child is mentally disturbed
You mean you don't try and murder your parents? boy oh boy, every kid I knew back then had it all wrong. This sure is embarrassing.
I'm actually blown away at the fact that people are less worried about the fact that this child tried to kill her mother, and more worried about her "Just being a spoiled kid"
did these people not read the title of the thread fully? can they read at all?

at age 12 you should be responsible enough to use your phone for friends and family.
a phone can be used to tell your dad "Hey parent of mine I need a lift from school its raining"
A phone is used to keep track of the child. No problems there. My view is a lot of the other things put on there can lead to addiction of behavior and having it removed from one's possession can lead to hostility.
Why twice. Why wasn't the line drawn the first time?
Apple just got its first minion!!, they might take over the world several years later
