This guy is overreacting, a new low? They've done this lots before, actually depicting men beating women, too. [editline]1st November 2011[/editline]
American Dad. The early episodes of Family Guy
Also this, some of the 1999 episodes of Family Guy are pretty funny, and don't have any of those "just like that time I ______" jokes usually.
"Sorry — police policy is that we can't step in until it's too late." That's funny. You guys need to get off your nerd horses and stop crying about this. There's been much worse on TV, turn on South Park and they do this every week.
What are people complaining about, I didnt find it to be making fun of it or anything.

Family guys sucks lately. I used to love the firsts seasons..
I don't see anything wrong with the video.. Just another Family Guy episode I guess. These shows have gone downhill. The Simpsons to me was the best.. from Season 2 - 9.. After that it has gone downhill. I never found Family Guy funny.. same goes to American Dad. Futurama is my favorite for the time being.
i dont see anything wrong with this episode, south park's writers have written far worse shit than this and that show is still on the air
But at least south park always gets the message right. This episode, in an attempt to be serious and heartfelt, all they did was blame the victim. What Quagmire says to her during the intervention is so misguided and wrong that it's pretty offensive. [editline]2nd November 2011[/editline]
Were it in Southpark or Simpsons nobody here would be calling it "in bad taste"
No, because the simpsons or south park wouldn't totally fuck up the message and basically teach people that it's the victims fault.

family guy is run by manatees. EVERYTHING THIS IS FUNNY OR NOTHING IS, jeez
Good episode. The end was intense.
It's a show :/ A goddamn cartoon and people are already overreacting. God fucking dammit.
Blaming the victim for domestic violence is like blaming the victim for a rape. It's very hard to get out of an abusive relationship, any fucking dimwitt should know that. And it's for a variety of reasons too, from fear to mixed feelings of affection and loss. At least shows like South Park know how to handle serious issues, instead of shitting all over them like Family Guy.
I've seen every ep of family guy up to Season 10, And i hate it, Really i do. It's a low-balling, unfunny show, But this is an overreaction, Nobody hates on say, Dara 'O Briain(SP?) or Frankie Boyle for making hilarious jokes about domestic violence, Hell IIRC there was a joke about it in Bottom.
The only mention of domestic violence in Bottom was Eddie beating up a collector for domestic violence and nicking her collection box.
It's a show :/ A goddamn cartoon and people are already overreacting. God fucking dammit.
great logic, as cartoons can obviously never be subject to analysis and they can never deliver a message. just forget children's cartoons having morals and old cartoon propaganda from wwii
I think the worst part of the episode was when the boyfriend managed to cock his double barreled shotgun like a pump action would be cocked.
I think the worst part of the episode was when the boyfriend managed to cock his double barreled shotgun like a pump action would be cocked.
oh no unrealistic gun cocking in a cartoon!!!! end of teh world :(
Everyone here is so quick to hate family guy that 1) it doesn't matter if they ARE funny anymore, you all decide they aren't and b) you lock only onto the worst possible aspects of an episode. I doubt any of you really considered what was being said beyond "eww its a domestic violence episode" The jokes are mostly about a) The police and their lack of concern for domestic violence. b) How only the moron ( peter ) thinks it is acceptable. c) How others are reluctant to help Then at the end quagmire lays serious truths on his sister, how there are people who want to and can help and that the power is with her always, but that she is choosing to remain with an abusive boyfriend, and that That is the thing that degrades her, not the abuse.
holy shit thank you. i was trying to type out this basically but couldn't find the words. anyone who watches family guy knows that macfarlane uses peter as a symbol of society in general. hence the fact that he's somewhat of an alcoholic, a horrible parent and spouse, and generally makes stupid decisions. the whole point of peter in this episode was to show that "if this idiot would say it, would you say it too?" [editline]2nd November 2011[/editline] They did the same with Stewie in an episode where he gets taken away by child services
You're all fucking idiots for thinking this episode is actually making fun of domestic violence. It's actually proving a point, nothing is fucking done about it, until it's to late. People get away with this shit every fucking day.

People get away with this shit every fucking day.
It's message is far worse, it teaches that the victim is at fault for choosing to stay in the relationship. This is despicable and couldn't be further from reality. The person who wrote the episode has a tenuous grasp on reality if they seriously believe what they wrote. While the episode may have one or two valid points regarding police intervention (although I'm not sure that one is right either), the be all and end all message of the episode is that it's her own fault. It's wrong, and offensive to think as such.
And what kid is dumb enough to believe that? All of them are already dead.
Feminists need to get the sand out of their vaginas.
This bitch needs to get off the rag and quit crying.
I just watched the episode. The damn thing is more of a domestic violence awareness episode than everything. Not that funny, but not at all making fun of domestic violence. Its more sad than anything.
I'm offended at the fact that people take such a terrible show seriously.
I'm starting to think Seth is just trying to sink Family Guy.
Feminists need to get the sand out of their vaginas.
I don't have a vagina.
This is the thread to bitch and complain about how awful Family Guy is right?
They did this because Seth McFarlane WANTS the show canceled.
Urm it's a comedy show. Nothing is off limit when it comes to comedy.
This man speaks the truth, just look at Ricky Gervais.
