There's a difference between ancient text and text made to disprove it imo I suppose its ok to do so; not necessary in my eyes though. You could just, you know, not read the Bible? [editline]edited[/editline] In better words. Aggressive atheists
You have no idea on what you're talking about. The shit they're handing isn't trying to disprove god. You can't disprove god, it's an falsifiable hypothesis. But why does it matter whether it's "ancient" text or not? Both are given to students to persuade them to a side. Atheist or Christian/Mormon/Catholic/etc (whatever holy book is handed out) This isn't aggression, this is trying to balance things out. Your argument make no sense.
No, the beliefs themselves are everyones own business, the rampancy of most religions and certainly all abrahamic religions is absolutely ridiculous.
What? You say that the beliefs are people's own business, then you say religions are rampant. Those two statements seem contradictory.
Oh you cunts. The Bible has societal, cultural and historical significance and hence requires a look-over even though you may not agree with the contents. Distributing propaganda like that is just a douche move imo; its not like the students aren't smart enough to make their owned damned decisions
"distributing propaganda" "calls bible a cultural phenomenon" makes sense.
What? You say that the beliefs are people's own business, then you say religions are rampant. Those two statements seem contradictory.
Do you understand the difference between personal belief and an organised religion? This is not difficult to comprehend, a catholic can follow most of the rules of their religion and have their own personal views on such things as gay marriage and murder and other shit, the actual religious organisations like the Vatican can have very strict rulings on such things. On a personal basis most people are content to keep their shit to themselves but on an organisational basis most religions or atheist organisations are just as flat out dumb as each other because they're all ramming their shit down peoples throats, the exact same way as each other with relatively minor differences. The people are fine, just when they all group together they end up suffering from hive mind stupidity.
I've read the bible and it has a fair few lessons that everyone should take to heart and learn from. You don't have to believe it's contents, I personally don't. But that doesn't mean you can't learn from it, and it doesn't mean people should constantly bash the bible. They should be promoting agnosticism and telling people to think about what they believe and make a choice from there, not attempting to push Atheism on everyone and saying a deity doesn't exist.
Well luckily it balances out because kids aren't going to read either one of them :v: Especially a King James bible. To a younger kid, that would be like just reading a dictionary.

Legally, monetarily, socially, etc..

Why do Christians get to be above everyone else, why not put the Quran in schools, its also ancient text
The beliefs purported by organized religion e.g. evil of condoms, evil of homosexuality, martyrdom, or apostasy are considerably stupider then any ideas advanced modern secular organizations.
Evil of condoms? Which commandment was that again? "Thou shalt not place rubber upon thy genital region"
Oh you cunts. The Bible has societal, cultural and historical significance and hence requires a look-over even though you may not agree with the contents. You can't fill in gaps in knowledge with religion, so why not give more than one argument to allow people to make up their own mind?
The beliefs purported by organized religion e.g. evil of condoms, evil of homosexuality, martyrdom, or apostasy are considerably stupider then any ideas advanced modern secular organizations.
That's great, but you're talking about the dumb bullshit that Pope Palpatine has announced who is widely acclaimed by everyone of the Catholic faith as a screaming retard. Regardless they all pump their bullshit with the same fervor. Personally I'm gonna carry on not giving a single fuck about any of this religion bullshit.
Read the Old Testament too.
A lot of times they don't even give that one out at schools. I've seen it happen it a few times and it's always an abridged New Testament.
You know, aggressive atheists are just as bad as aggressive religious folk, distributing books and shit? Yeah that's cool you're trying to prove a point that the policy is retarded, why not just open an actual debate with policy makers instead of distributing books. Lay out an actual fucking argument for your side of the debate and present it to the appropriate people, not parcel out books and shit to everyone, because it just comes across as tit for tat no matter how much they don't want it to be taken that way.
dam aggressive athes n there marxist plots they r sooooooooo bad even tho they are a small minority and don't decide policy like the aggressive religious people get to do

But you really seem to know what you're talking about so whatever. Edited for my awful attempt at grammar.
That's cool, but no Catholic I've ever talked too (I was raised Catholic) and I've literally heard nobody bash the pope. I mean, the only reason we have so many other Christian denominations was because of terrible and corrupt the Catholic church was.
The Bible or any other religious material has no place in schools. Schools are based on family principles. Children usually get religion from parent/guardian. The family often forces a religion upon the child. Allowing religion based material would disturb some families teachings, thus causing issue.
The beliefs purported by organized religion e.g. evil of condoms, evil of homosexuality, martyrdom, or apostasy are considerably stupider then any ideas advanced modern secular organizations.
Let's not also forget that religious people essentially murder hundreds of people each and every day by blocking research into life-saving medicine such as stem-cell research.

That's why they are students.
Let's not also forget that religious people essentially murder hundreds of people each and every day by blocking research into life-saving medicine such as stem-cell research.
Yes, luckily in '09 we elected someone with a functioning brain. Well in '08 we elected him, he started doing things in '09.
Fine as long as I'm not forced to read it.
Fine as long as I'm not forced to read it.
They're going to tie you into a chair and surgically remove your eyelids.
I think this is a good idea honestly. If I had known back in school that Atheism was a real thing I would have been much happier. I spent quite a long time in primary school utterly confused when it game to religion because everyone talked about Christianity like it was the only religion there was.
They're going to tie you into a chair and surgically remove your eyelids.
I meant it as in, it's fine since they're not going to force me to read it. An indirect response to the last page. Although personally I'd rather religion stayed out of schools beyond RE and left kids to believe what they want.
I meant it as in, it's fine since they're not going to force me to read it.
I understand what you meant, but if I actually needed clarification on something then copy-pasting what you typed earlier wouldn't help much.
There's an athiest bible?
