Atheist group to distribute books in schools after bibles were allowed.

I really like Jesus.
Jesus was an anarchist.
Fuck organized religion.
You know, aggressive atheists are just as bad as aggressive religious folk, distributing books and shit? Yeah that's cool you're trying to prove a point that the policy is retarded, why not just open an actual debate with policy makers instead of distributing books.

Lay out an actual fucking argument for your side of the debate and present it to the appropriate people, not parcel out books and shit to everyone, because it just comes across as tit for tat no matter how much they don't want it to be taken that way.

That group's attorney sent a letter to Orange County Public Schools objecting to the district's policy allowing outside groups into schools at all. If the district doesn't change its policy, they will go ahead with the plan to distribute their atheist literature.
but they are? did you read the article or did you just see that atheists did something and immediately decided they should just shut up and stop trying to change the status quo? the point is that, in the event that the policy isn't reverted and religious texts continue being distributed to students in our education system, they're trying to take their "actual fucking argument" to somewhere that matters to counteract the inherent teaching of biblical principles and history in schools.. why do people freak out whenever atheists do anything other than quietly nod in disagreement to overwhelming religious influence in our government and education system? they're not asking you print "THIS SHITS FAKE" on every page of the bible, they're asking that, if you're going to teach kids about religious text and unavoidably the ideology presented by those texts, there should be an alternate viewpoint presented in the same context so kids know they're equal ideologies and schools of thought, rather than being presented with religious texts all their lives and shrugging off an atheist viewpoint as secondary later on in life. there are a lot of cases in which atheist groups do things just to be snarky and insult religious people but that isn't an excuse for people to cry foul and pretend atheists are committing acts of evil and intolerance for speaking up about a legitimate issue.
Evil of condoms?
Which commandment was that again? "Thou shalt not place rubber upon thy genital region"
Something about spilling the seed, which is interpreted as masturbation but I guess condoms count too.
Also I would like to oppose the idea that these students are smart enough to make their own decisions, we're talking about ORANGE FUCKING COUNTY where 80% of the population are just spoiled little cunts that use Facebook and Twitter all day.

Yeah he was such an anarchist, especially when he told people to pay their taxes, can't get much more anarchistic than that.

Nah, it's their take on "Thou shalt not kill." They believe by preventing conception you're murdering millions of potential people. It's one of the stupidest things ever.
Oh you cunts. The Bible has societal, cultural and historical significance and hence requires a look-over even though you may not agree with the contents.
No it doesn't. Really.

No I'm talking about the 10 year olds that have iPhones and tweet and instant message their friends constantly. That's Orange County for you.

They talk to their friends too?! My god they are worse then I thought.

They did start a debate with the policy makers, objecting to the policy and thus starting a dialogue. The policy maker told them they stand by their decision.
Just saying.
i see no problem, if bibles can be distributed, so can atheist information
but jesus christ, can you guys simmer down with your atheist circlejerk?
you guys do this every time.

Bibles have no place in a secular school outside of English and History.

uh what circlejerk are you talking about? i didn't know a portion of posters being entirely reasonable and agreeing that christians shouldnt have a monopoly on religious teaching in public schools is a circlejerk
It's the same reason people are called "aggressive atheists" for leaving pamphlets on a table, stupidity.
Equality!

Throw in some Buddhist texts of various sorts and we've got most of the major ones covered.

Oh, and some Sikh stuff would interesting too.
Oh you cunts. The Bible has societal, cultural and historical significance and hence requires a look-over even though you may not agree with the contents.
Distributing propaganda like that is just a douche move imo; its not like the students aren't smart enough to make their owned damned decisions
I'm usually the one defending the Christians but putting bibles in schools is entirely inappropriate, and the atheist group is only threatening to do this in the event of no change in policy.
Yet another war on religion, yay.
Bible thumps were in the wrong from the beginning for placing bibles in a place clearly dictated by separation of church and state, and atheists are wrong for making a bitchy argument about it.
Nobody wins, you lose, good day sir.
I doubt many of you have even read the bible, or the fact that you ever intend to.
Does this not contradict everyone's claims of indoctrination if they themselves are indoctrinated into an antitheist circlejerk band wagon??
Your opnions are worth as much as some foreigner commenting on a situation they don't even know the corcumstances of if you can't bring yourself to hear your opposition's texts too.

*legitimate criticism.
Whenever Christians say to be skeptical of what atheists say everyone laughs at them. So really all of you are being quite contradictory here for no good reason. Or perhaps you're just biased. I would say the latter.

Worked wonders for me.
The amount of baby killing and genocide in the bible is hilarious.
I find it impossible to believe anyone would truly agree with it.

And could you provide 10 examples of this that I cannot debunk?
Oh you cunts. The Bible has societal, cultural and historical significance and hence requires a look-over even though you may not agree with the contents.
Okay, we should give out copies of all books that have societal, cultural, and historical significance then.
Like Mein Kampf. Mein Kampf has major societal, cultural, and historical significance.
I suppose its just right not to let outside groups interfere with educational processes. It does create a distraction and a divide
My highschool was such that groups often were not allowed into the school and were forced on the streets outside if they wanted to prove something
Quite. Therefore, groups distributing bibles have no place in high school because they interfere with the educational process and spread misinformation while portraying it to be truth.

In that case you should abolish "scientific" teaching. "Junk" DNA is proven to be false, yet still taught by schools both primary and secondary. Thus the teachers have commited an illegal act of teaching false facts. Some more examples include mitochondrial DNA showing mankind to be 130,000 years old, despite recent studies showing it is actually closer to 6,000 years. Basilosaurus and Ambulocetus being the same size, yet one is actually almost ten times the size of the other. The list goes on and on. Funnily enough, most of the atheist push for these to be taught in schools despite the illegal part of doing so. This is misinformation being spread while being portrayed as the truth.
These are not "scientific" as science is a goal or finding out the reality of the world around us, what makes it and us tick, and finding the truth. The above mentioned examples display the exact opposite.

You really call book called "What is a freethinker?" a propaganda?
The point is that if there's nothing wrong with the distribution of bibles in schools, the opposing argument is entitled to its hearing - Especially if it encourages scrutiny and critical thought.
