• EA: Quit hating us

EA is looking a little better now. Good E3 press conference and a solid line-up for the next generation of consoles. They dropped their online pass system, and seem to be slowly learning that keeping the internet hate machine happy is good for business. The last time people were relatively positive towards EA was back when they released Dead Space and Mirror's Edge. All the hate was focussed on Activision around that time (thanks to MW2). [editline]13th June 2013[/editline] This classic video illustrates my point quite well:
I hope EA actually get their shit together and patch up relations with consumers and fix up some bad business practices. Such a change for a large company would be amazing. Not holding my breath of course.
"we love the games that we make" said the publishing corporation Ok
Solution, stop doing things that makes people hate you. No-brainer, really.
They can't. Gamers will hate everything they do regardless of legitimate reasons. People flipped a shit over optional micro-transactions in DS3, but TF2 going pay to win free to play doesn't bother anyone. People are already claiming Mirror's Edge 2 is going to be ruined by EA. Pretty dumb considering the only reason Mirror's Edge or Dead Space got made was EA tried to create new IP's, of course nobody bought Mirror's Edge despite the positive sentiment so the new one is trying to repair their standing. EA just can't win.
It's always about greed and money What happened to just good entertainment. Now I can't shit on the toilet without toilet paper DLC
I never really got why EA was considered the worst company when ones like Jagex exist.
I never really got why EA was considered the worst company when ones like Jagex exist.
Because Jagex doesn't buy up smaller, better, companies to eat them up, shit them out, and serve it to you in a fancy plastic case; All while acting like they're better than you.
please don't hate us guys we're getting better really!
I like EA and I look forward to BF4, NFS Rival etc.
I'd love if they made their Origin only games available on Steam
I'd love if they made their Origin only games available on Steam
I would like if Steam made their Steamworks games available without Steam. Oh no, is that true? Steam does the same thing?!?!
EA doesn't hate players They're just incredibly out-of-touch with a sizable chunk of their target consumers
Naah, they prefer listening to their investors instead of their consumers.
please don't hate us guys we're getting better really!
Wow i almost forgot how bad EA was in the 90's, suing origin into bankruptcy and then buying them out was pretty low, but outright refusing to allow them to make any non-ultima games and then outright blocking all new projects until they eventually collapsed just so they could use them as a tax right-off is just plain evil. And then they go use their name and logo for their new drm response to steam, and they wonder why they ended up on the receiving end of a never ending hate train. Besides EA's never been good at keeping promises. http://www.dailytech.com/EA+Regrets+Stifling+Developers+Promises+Reform/article10636.htm
With EA’s most recent acquisition of BioWare and Pandemic, for which the publisher paid $860 million, the company now has to makes sure it doesn’t mess with a good thing. "Creative teams can be thought of as flowers in a hothouse -- you move the temperature up or down a few degrees and the flowers will die," Riccitiello said.
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/pandemic-staff-confirm-studios-closure
Unconfirmed rumours yesterday suggested that almost all of Pandemic's 200 staff were being laid off, including CEO Andrew Goldman, president Josh Resnick and vice president of product development Greg Borrud. Speaking to website Shacknews an EA spokesperson admitted the cuts, but attempted to couch them in more positive terms, saying: "The Pandemic brand and franchises will continue to live on. A core team of Pandemic developers will move to EALA and continue development on Pandemic games with a focus on quality, cost management and schedule integrity."
Only took them one year to mess up Pandemic. :EDIT: Almost forgot this gem from 2008 http://www.shacknews.com/article/51229/ea-concedes-poor-handling-of
Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello has admitted the company made serious mistakes in integrating several well-known developers, including Bullfrog and Westwood, into its corporate structure, Game|Life reports. "We at EA blew it, and to a degree I was involved in these things, so I blew it," Riccitiello said at this week's DICE Summit in Las Vegas. "When I talked to the creators that populated these companies at the time, they felt like they were buried and stifled." The CEO blamed the company's habit of applying similar management structures to studios brought under EA's wing, which in turn muted creative freedom. He went on to cite EA's recent acquisitions of BioWare and Maxis as examples of an improved model in which individual studios' corporate culture and goals remain intact.
All you have to do is see that EA ruined Origin, Bought the rights, and now uses it as its own flagship to see what kind of company EA is It's the digital version of pirating a merchant ship, killing its crew, and then using that ship to pirate some more
From previous problems that I have personally had with their games, the customer service that they offer is appalling. They either give stupid advice on things or take so long to get back to you on a problem it's not worth all the hassle.
Well EA now with Microsoft going down the shitter you have a chance to redeem yourself.
From previous problems that I have personally had with their games, the customer service that they offer is appalling. They are in another country. Staffed by a completely different company by idiots who do not know what they are doing.
Because Jagex doesn't buy up smaller, better, companies to eat them up, shit them out, and serve it to you in a fancy plastic case; All while acting like they're better than you.
Well that is kind of exactly what they did to Ace of Spades :v:
I would like if Steam made their Steamworks games available without Steam. Oh no, is that true? Steam does the same thing?!?!
Uh I just want to have all my games in one place is all ha
Do you honestly think their level 1 support is internal EA staff? They are in another country. Staffed by a completely different company by idiots who do not know what they are doing.
That is still their responsibility though.
World 1 - EA 0
I still find it incredibly silly how a fucking video game company won Worst Company in America rather than shit like AT&T or Bank of America or any of the equally as terrible and awful companies. I mean yeah EA did some stupid and fucked up shit, but not anywhere near as bad as BoA
They responded to that and basically said the same you did. You could see the anger in their letter.
Whatever people say, I still loved James Bond Nightfire
That was an awesome game, who ever made it.
Obviously not EA... </sarcasm>
If you don't want us to hate you, EA, stop making shitty, bland, regurgitated MMSs and start making good games like you did 15 years ago.
Reminds me of that Chris Crocker guy on youtube somehow...
This is why EA is bad.
This is why EA is bad.
Getting really tired of seeing this video instead of actual discussion. When ever somebody posts this it seems to me they're on a bandwagon and have no original thoughts or input of their own the on the matter. You can hate EA all you want. I'm not here to stop you, but at least explain why in words rather in an old and tired video macro.
