Future Windows Phones to have swappable accessories, Microsoft patent suggests

I'm not saying it's a smart product in the long term but it's a neat idea I hope will extend cellphone accessories in the future.
Interesting idea.
I wonder what they have in mind. I doubt they would have gone through the trouble if it wasn't worth it.
This would have made the HTC Surround actually worth buying( I mean, come on, a giant slide out SPEAKER? )
I love this idea. It's too bad that it might never get used.
Yes, I'd rather have Microsoft get hold of this patent than apple. I mean, it's not like Microsoft makes their own phones, this feature will be given to manufacturers like HTC and Samsung to make awesome phones with it. Oh dear, imagine all the games from Xbox indie (made with XNA) getting ported to windows phone (which is easy as cake) and be able to play them with this swappable gamepad. Hnnnnngg!!
Well, like Minilandstan said, they couldn't use it. Android phones are already so varied, maybe they can use it, but it's not like one person controls the manufacturing requirements of their phones so it's not really useful. But Windows phone needs something new to make the platform more unique, so why can't Microsoft have it? Or is this a case of "If I can't have it, you can't either?"
Yeah... just because they patent something, doesn't mean they'll ever use it. It will probably be a case of "I'm not going to use it, but I'll be damn if I'm going to let you use it!"
