god damn it I can't convert time for shit
If it's not cloudy, get as far away from bright lights as you can
Well, shit.
Places where the Perseid radiant isn't visible include the southern parts of Australia
Damn.
Funny, last night I looked at the full moon and saw a shooting star.
Why did they leave it so late to tell us?
Well, fuck. New South Wales represent.
I left about an hour ago to walk to a perfect place with minimal lighting since the city I'm in is light-polluted to shit. I arrived at this place only to get chased out by vicious racoons. Looks like I won't be seeing any meteor showers tonight. :smith:
I don't know if this is happening right now or if my time is off, but all I see at the moment is the ISS.
I stood outside for two hours and I only saw three thanks to the rediculous floodlights coming from the rona near my apartment. Don't forget - this is just the peak. It goes on through the 20th and will still have plenty of meteorites for the next couple of days.
Same, I didn't see a fucking thing.
This shit was such a downer.
Clouds....clouds errywhere. :(
Managed to see two since 23:00 suburbs Stockholm Will go out later.
You're seeing them tonight too??!!
Of course. You can already start to see them from July, it's only around 12-14 August where it peaks. Right now the hourly rate in Stockholm is ~20/hour- [editline]13th August 2011[/editline] http://leonid.arc.nasa.gov/estimator.html
Clouds, what a shame. If I'm still up at 4AM I'll check it out, I guess.

Good to know...
Back again. That was beautiful. Saw one really clear just in front of me and some fainter ones. If you live in the northern hemisphere now is your last chance to get a clear glimpse of the meteor shower before it fades. I think I saw a total of 6-7 in about 30 minutes.
I live right up in the north, but it's too cloudy tonight. I'm pretty upset because of that.
Only saw 1 in about 20 minutes, but it was a really beautiful one. Longest tail I've ever seen on one.
Same, I only saw one last night. A couple of my friends and I laid out and watched around 4 AM EST. It was damn beautiful though.
I hate central Texas for one reason: Whenever there is any astronomical event of any kind, it's always too fucking cloudy to even see it!

The first time I heard about Austin - aged six or so, this was my mental image of it. It was too fuckin' cloudy out here in the Phoenix area to see anything. We had a nice big thunderstorm.

How come nothing interesting happens in the southern hemisphere. I'm getting bored over here in Victoria. The only thing we get over here is rain.
Awesome. Maybe it took me 50 minutes, but in those 50 minutes I saw 5 meteors! This is the first time I've seen falling meteors in my life. Really amazing sight. Too bad clouds decided to come after that time and could barely see even the stars :( Also, light pollution is quite bad where I live since we have these 2 huge "security" lights. I wanted to turn them off but I have no idea how. Anyway, got lucky with those 50 minutes of clear sky.

These things make me wish to live somewhere less light-polluted.
